  1. mazda is sportiness at a good price. no surprise they had an decent month. mazda5 taking off? maybe folks are finding out about it. cx-7 would really boom if they would do the right thing and put a v6 option in it. even C/D raked on the turbo four.
  2. its goes to show you the desperation of people. it's like what is the cheapest way i can get a piece of toyota greatness!!!!!!!!
  3. while yes, the euro focus and next gen focus are without question better cars, i think all this really says is that when ford made the decision to rehash the old one again, it was during a very dire time in the company, and considering the lack of resources, and all the other things that factored into it, needing to update all their vehicles on skeleton budgets, without the company going under or making a deadly risky decision......that buying an extra 30 months or whatever with the existing vehicle at least for the last few months, has probably turned out ok as a business strategy. If its primarily because of gadgets, then hooray. Again, enthusiasts tend to neglect that normal Joe Buyer puts a lot more wow on gadgets then say, steering feel at 9/10ths.......... if you are selling your home, do you simply paint the rooms or do you gut the cabinets and tile and plumbing fixtures? How much do you want to spend, and how much do you expect to get back, and how fast do you need to do it? They didn't want to spend 40 grand on tile, fixtures and cabinets, so they painted the walls and hung a picture and baked some sync cookies at the open house. Need to sell a used car.....do you fix all that you know is wrong with it or do you put a new stereo and speakers in it and hope some punk buys it because its got thumping bass?
  4. uplander almost outsold the acadia ! lol
  5. 2010 taurus cannot come fast enough. the crossovers are cannibalizing large sedans in general.
  6. kia down is odd to me. i thought they would be even or flat.
  7. rich getting richer in this country. this makes sense.
  8. yaris only offsets how poorly corolla did. scion models not goign thru the roof. Yaris is not a good torch bearer of toyo's 'legendary reliability' camry's leasing cheap is what that is.
  9. hmmm, and that focus is such a terrible product? so, 50 bucks worth of parts, some software, a microphone and bluetooth and usb port......= sales gains. didn't need to overhaul the whole production line and burn billions in new manufacturing setup just for increased sales. New dash, some software and media ports, good honest attainable price. "People don't buy cars on gadgets" HMMMMMM. seems to me that folks are ok spending 15.5k price out the door for a 'non enthusiast' terrible old rehash of a proven car, rather than testing the waters with a euro focus. yeah, the euro focus would sell too if the price were that good, but it seems to me like ford's execs are fine when mpg's meet mp3's at a price cash strapped Americans like to see. Like it or not, it seems to be bearing out that they are happy with the sales numbers they are seeing on this terrible human tragedy so far. business 101. sales increase + acceptable investment = meet objectives. Chicago triplets are the ones getting abused. Looks like the redesign failed and that the Fusion and Edge / MKx is cannibalizing them in a big way as far as ford's own customer base.
  10. duh, units will be down. market share is critical when unit sales are down.

  12. shame on you o-boi can't tell 2 hondas apart?
  13. UK folks are generally sour on US folk, in addition to not quite getting how US families pack up and go on trips that mean cargo area is required. Since you can cross the UK in a short amount of time, its no wonder one could be lulled into thinking something as fragile and piddly as a prius would be adequate for trips. I'd love to see a prius make it through a blizzard without getting blown off the road. Or be capable of handling 2 adults, 3 kids, and pack k plays, strollers, tents, coolers, luggage, christmas presents, bicycles, etc. just goes to show someone who doesn't understand how families like to travel. how bout 2 adults and 4-6 kids and their hockey gear travelling to tournaments?
  14. better you stay where your at, you'll get broader experience, which is better when you're just starting out. Mol's fun.
  15. all toyo ads are pompous. how can you single out only one? i turn the radio off when the tundra ads come on.

  21. LOL what are you smoking. please help to understand what 'honda family hybrid' you are talking about? the insight is a pop can for 2 (and a tight one, not for a family) and the accord hybrid not only had poor performance, it was expensive, got bad mpg, and got cancelled because NO ONE WOULD BUY ONE. oh, i get it. you figured you could cram a kid or two under the hatchback. a little tight sure, as long as timmy doesn't mind NO SEAT BELT NO SEAT And having his face pressed against the glass. "Brace yourself Timmy! there's a bump up ahead!!!!" ford escape hybrid, now there is a legitimate family vehicle.

    Golf Hybrid

its fine, the goal of higher mileage, but lets cooperate as 50 states, because it makes it easier to achieve the goals that way.
  23. wow you are a big time pessimist you have no faith in our ability to get things done. its been proven over and over, Americans only gravitate to small cars when forced by finances. By nature they do not like to get small cars.
