  1. microsoft decades of excellence
  2. WINDOWS VISTA there, I'll start. everyone else, chime in, what products SUCK. i.e. suck so bad you wish you could gain revenge on their maker......
  3. LOL
  4. ok, the 500 has been showing big time mpg lately on the DIC. so tonight i was setting out on a rant and i set it so it would keep track of my mileage tonight. got back, about 50-60 miles of stop and go with some light freeway. 26.4 mpg. damn. not bad for a big ass car! My 2 loaner Focuses this year didn't barely crack 25 with me beating on them. i checked the progress of the whole tank and its around 27....includes half my last trip and the recent in town driving. the cool air can't alone be responsible....plus the car is running like a demon and has lots more snap and throttle response. Then I remembered. When i filled up across the state border on the way back last sunday.....i put in non-ethanol/non-oxygenated gas...almost a full tank. or it was the other way around....it was a 89 octane blend. i can't recall. anyways, i think its the gas....my mpg has been up about 10% this summer prior to this tank, the car must be finally breaking in....but this 25+ in in town driving, I'll take that!
  5. Pontiac ASTRe Chevrolet ASTRo Holden/Opel/Vauxhall/Saturn ASTRa I fully expect the Buick Astru and the Saab Astri to be on the horizon.
  6. no way to forget that excellent ride!
  7. my feeling is if they can justify the G8 Ute, its even easier justifying the G8 wagon. a G8 wagon with a 300hp direct inject six pot and 6 speed auto would be sweet. this CTS wagon is hotter than hell tho. The rear is sexy. To me it makes the sedan look clumsy.
  8. James Healy of USA Today review is sort of lukewarm..... http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/review...honda-fit_N.htm
  9. oh, good talking point.... since you brought it up..... light pink dark pink light brown so yeah, the dark brown ones, I could see where it would be nice to lighten those up a bit.
  10. kiss my AS..TRA?
  11. buicks to me seem as if you'd want a lexus / e and s class mercedes feel to them. pontiacs? alfa, ferrari, a little bmw. saturn is sposedly going VW, opel, acura, etc. saabs concepts have been so cool lately. when will they get any of that to the showfloor?
  12. absolutely. the depth and color switching of the silver sand is a knockout. the aura has some interesting hues now. too bad the astras color palate is so limited.
  13. i called 2 dealers to look at fits and neither had any. spoken for before hitting the lot.
  14. 'SILVER SAND' is the color i want. It a beige with a silvery undertone to it. Looks awesome vs. the black leather.
  15. i dunno. GM as a whole needs to sort out that mess. i think i see saturn developing into premium smaller vehicles, as opposed to chevy (cheap daewoos). this opens pontiac up to unique models small or large but with defined performance characteristics. Buick can focus on extreme comfort that is value based. I think eventually Pontiac/Buick/GMC will be folded into Chevy. Pontiac and Buick will exist with fewer models and will serve the need for buyers who don't want asian type appliances (which is where Chevy seems to be going). In my opinion it makes more sense to pair Caddy when needed with Saturn and Saab. Its tough for me to see how Caddy complements Chevy, going off into the future. In reality I like all GM brands in one house, but I think it will be tough for BPG to survive on its lonesome. Saturn has few dealers so I think they can tread water...except it was disappointing to see the Insignia not coming here. I think Buick and Pontiac can survive and thrive more if folded into Chevy stores as premium product. They can be more tightly focused and they won't need as many models. It's conceivable for example that we could have an Alpha G6 line (wagon, sedan, coupe), Zeta G8 line (wagon, sedan, coupe), the Solstices (moved to Alpha), maybe a clone delta compact with exclusive 2.0 turbo. If they really needed to keep the Vibe I suppose they could but to be honest its a very confused offering that sells well now because of expensive gas. I'm not sure how you do Buick but a park avenue, a Lucerne, a LaCrosse/Invicta.........I would add a 4 place hardtop convertible ala Riviera. Enclave of course. I would add a 2 row crossover and I think that's all Buick needs. Some may argue Buick needs a compact. Who knows on that one. As usual, its the idea of buying off dealers and consolidation. Saturn is a different cat. Seldom do you have other brands, plus owners of the franchises own multiple dealers. I think Saturn has more rope than BPG right now......but that's why the Insignia delay is so confusing. To assault the Saturn showroom in 2010 with a new Insignia and Astra and tall MPV like vehicle would have boosted them dramatically.

  17. to add "when arriving at the rental counter at the airport" sorry, couldn't resist....
  18. imagine the doofuses that forget to 'plug in their cars' at night.
  19. you think the 18" 3 door wheels would work on the 5 door...with new tires?
  20. to me its a matter of if i qualify for all the incentives, then i can get it at a price i know it won't cost me anything / much to drive the car for a couple years....then if i need to sell it to upsize again, i won't lose my shorts on trying to sell a car with no value. I can get the car fully loaded and not break the bank. we got the taurus X and I love it, and even though its not as big as a minivan, it can serve as a family hauler enough I think. I know over time I will lose money on that car, even buying it lightly used. So its not like I need to get another large car, even though it would prove useful to have a second larger vehicle. if i can get one at the price i want it might make sense....if i can't there are too many other options available at the higher prices that i can justify my money as better spent....price vs. value.
  21. ITS EASY TO GET EXCITED ABOUT THIS THING! easily trumps other hybrids on style. GM is in the game in a huge way. love the interior!
  22. congrats! way to go!
  23. spent noon today on another LOOOONNNNNNGGG astra test drive. really is a nice drive......sweet. we all know the shortcomings but this car makes up for those in other ways. the car feels more like a glove than many other compacts. it has the feel of an expensive comfortable leather jacket you always want to wear. i spent about 15 min playing with the advanced audio. the high res screen is awesome and once you figure out the menus and how to adjust your sound settings you get real sweet sound out of the effer. sucks that this car is going so underappreciated. salesguy said one customer went on a long trip with a 5 speed and averaged 42mpg for the trip....admittedly at only about 60mph, but still. he said mileage seems to be exceeding EPA #'s and this corresponds with user reports on edmunds.
  24. cool
