  1. yup, that is the new trend.
  2. the reason this would would be done pre-bama is to kill the union. i don't think obama would provide a deal like this to bust the union. so part of the agenda is 'bust the union'. second is to require bankruptcy to fix the legacy costs issue and provide DIP to keep consumer confidence in buying warranted gm stuff etc.
  3. i would keep a g8 (sedan and wagon), the solstice (assumes the sky is gone if they shut down saturn), and seriously a g6 (next aura? / because there are some who don't want a chevy and don't want a buick). if saturn dies than pontiac gets an astra. that is what i would do. i would consider running pontiac at 100k volume then. it sounds though like GM is saying to holden, no more aussie chassis for you. you will assimilate.
  4. this could be the most fair piece i have seen on this issue for quite some time now.
  5. your post has no cred whatsoever because you included the altima. you want to talk dimestore? mondeo is not here. new maxima interior is an abortion. jetta is ok, but lacks any sorts of visual interest and is bland overall. why set a low standard like that? the key to the interior of this regal is execution. the design is fine. they need to get the materials and textures right, nice precise fits, nicer feeling switchgear. someone suggested the azera as a benchmark. sure, if you like FAUX. buick cannot nor should not be priced so high that it cannot sell in decent volume. again, not everyone wants chevy, not everyone wants caddy (too pricey too ghetto). buick needs to be better than toyota and i would say better than vw also. buick will never sell at audi prices. nor will it sell at lexus prices. hyundai is the spolier because it will redefine what you should pay for certain amenities, just as lexus and infiniti did way back when as well. when i think of the level of finish in the current volvo s60, that is about where maybe this regal should be, maybe a little less is acceptable. somewhere inbetween what a passat is and an s60 is about where a buick (maybe not the regal but the lacrosse) should be at. http://www.km77.com/00/opel/insignia/g03.asp now, i do think as a buick there needs to be much richer and genuine finishes, more interesting accents, and have good 'touch points' but i am willing to wait and see what the plastics turn out like also.
  6. must be the labor then that my dad was being a whiny as-s about. i'm like 'dad, it costs money to have a shop and tools and all of that'. And my dad is an ex implement / diesel mechanic. i suppose maybe he figures he gave away his time so everyone else's is overvalued....LOL struts in general are kind of expensive. i had a few quotes to replace struts and shocks on my 'tek, 800-1000 bucks including labor.
  7. again, the agreement and what we both want as the commited couple was either 2 or 3 kids. i aint gettin younger, had to do it or deal with the breaking of the trust. and in truth, i want to also. just that it got put off way too long. GRRRRR. time and money goes too fast and lose sense of what priorities really are. in a perfect world i would be game for 3 or 4, but that assumes a younger version of ME, and a good enough job and economy for me to make tons of money so she can be june cleaver if she wants, and we can afford all the expenses and time that are required to raising kids. so as a couple that was what we're built around, and its all worth it, even if 'return to greatness' is delayed and underfunded. there was a few pockets when she was prego last time where she got randy streaks, but on the whole, not very much so in comparison to the 'trying to conceive' period before hand. talk about a horny woman! guys maybe you had one of those too. can't get enough if what she really wants is the seed.
  8. i'd get an accent before say, a toyota.
  9. oh come on, i know that. i was just saying it's been awhile, so much so, that i may need to expand my horizons as far as getting that part of the deal. i.e. 'think outside the box' for me. LOL bfore y'all get judgmental on me, the mrs is knocked up again and happens to be one of those that just isnt into that kinda of stuff when she is. and other women aren't available as an option to jump in for mop up duty. up until that though, you had better be in great cardio shape, iykwim. cause it might fall off. urban legend is that woman get randy when preggers, a lot do, but mine is one that her appetite goes down once the seed has been planted. with women, you learn some things are biological and hormonal.
  10. BTW, whole pineapples 2 for 6 bucks at the store this week.! WOOHOO! favorite part of eating pineapple. it's so sweet, but slightly acidic. but then you always end up getting a bunch of it all over, it's so juicy.
  11. yup those green gassy veggies and also coffee are taste killers. i've heard that snickers and pineapple are among the most 'fruitful' remedies. um, not that i would know first hand though. IYKWIM.
  12. i mentioned to my wife i had the big tub of pineapple, but no takers. her loss i guess. maybe i will have to become a guy guy LOL
  13. solitary CHERRY......
  14. hondas are short stroke if i recall and i think that's party why they are not such big shakers.
  15. the camry is a sad joke. corolla also. unless you kneel to consumer reports.
  16. holy crap the condition of that thing is amazing. wow! perfect color too! honestly, i've always wanted one of those regals. i remember when those came out, and i read the articles about it in car and driver over and over. in my mind, the original 2 door w bodies were stunning cars, each one. i knew so many people with grand prixs it was amazing. i loved the dash in those regals. they said GM built cars no one wanted in the 80's, however, many of those cars I love, aside from their quality issues. in my mind the w bodies were bold, daring, and efficient.
  17. my dad has put off putting struts in his seville, but his is a 92, and i don't think those in any way are electronic, although he did say they are expensive and he is as tight as it gets. but he said they were extremely costly, is it the same type of deal?
  18. would you give your inheritance to your family, or to strangers from the next state?
  19. veracruz ain't bad. to me its what the 2nd gen rendezxvoux should have been. veracruz is much nicer than this lexus abortion. 1st gen x5's are really nice. i've ridden in an x3. seems a bit poseurish. toyota ought to get their shorts in a bind. the genesis and veracruz make you ask the question 'why would i spend so much more on a pukey toyota'?
  20. http://www.canadiandriver.com/thenews/2008...-jobs-first.htm this is what needs to get out to the general public Washington, D.C. - The U.S. non-profit research centre Good Jobs First said that foreign-owned auto assembly plants in that country have received a total of US$3.6 billion in state and local subsidies, mostly from southern states. “As elected officials debate aid for the Big Three, taxpayers have the right to know the full extent of government involvement in America’s auto industry,” said Greg LeRoy, executive director of Good Jobs First. “And while proposed federal aid to the Big Three would take the form of a loan, the vast majority of subsidies to foreign auto plants were taxpayer gifts such as property and sales tax exemptions, income tax credits, infrastructure aid, land discounts, and training grants.” The centre released the following list of funding, which it said is “conservative” and does not account for inflation:
  21. http://www.canadiandriver.com/thenews/2008...e-uaw-nader.htm nader as an ally?
  22. sometimes you don't even need the flat tire. as long as there is no lubircation crisis.
  23. very nice pic. don't be so modest. !
  24. let's hope they can get enough profit from fits. the new accord sucks and the new pilot goes beyond sucking. the new pilot is up there with my aztek in terms of ugly.
