  1. this whole thing reeks of 'trying too hard' but God bless em if it catches on.
  2. as someone who has a pacifica in the garage, and test drove a blazer a few weeks ago, the pacifica is a better driving vehicle, much better all around. Blazer isn't an equal. Pacifica is a great rig, deserves way more credit than people give Chrysler. Blazer is good enough for those who drive that and nothing else.
  3. i saw a red hot Blazer RS on the road the other day. It is distinctive. Too bad that person paid close to 50 geezels for it. That's exactly why GM puffs up the MSRP. The early adopter fanbois slip GM the 15 grand in profit so the cheap asses like me can wait till its priced 70% of MSRP. Fine by me, let the fanbois pay. At the autoshow last weekend was where i compared Equinox and Blazer side by side for space, there is not much usable space difference, which reflects bad on the Blazer. If you want a v6, you get the Blazer. If cargo area is a big concern, they want to push you from the Mexican made Blazer to the 'we want to sell as many as we can' Traverse. It's like some product planning person at GM wrote an algorith to determine exactly what size down from the Traverse needed to be to sell just enough to occupy a Mexican plant, but sell at a price close to the Traverse. And be that choice that Equinox doubters could move up to with a bit more money. Actually comparing the Blazer and then looking at the Acadia with the two rear seats folded, the Acadia is a better choice than the Blazer if cargo is your thing....which again is probably intentional by GM. The more upright shape does help a bit with real cargo usefulness. If you want an Acadia, and are comparing the Blazer, get a 2019 Acadia, BIG DISCOUNTS, CHEAP LEASES, and before they switch to the stupid pushbutton shifter in 2020 (and grille change). You can probably land a sweet Acadia Denali or SLT for a killer deal and have a more useful vehicle than the Blazer, fashion be damned.
  4. i still stand by the gist of what i said on another thread. it looks fresh for an hour and then its sort of blends into the landscape and has a bit of dull to it. Sort of like the new Genesis sedan, it has a cache to it but at the same time there is a bit of faux about it. but yes, as a lease vehicle or a cost effective vehicle its certainly ok. It's better than the hot mess Camry. And I would say better than Altima too from an excitement standpoint. And at least they didn't put a CVT in it either, right?
  5. i was at the auto show locally here yesterday and spent a fair amount of time looking at the Cadillacs on hand. Cadillac had great representation in terms of people and examples of their cars. Since they finally have the new XT4 it seemed like a lot of Cadillac interest from the show attenders, more than recent years IMO. Most people were looking at the Escalade or XT5 and those looking at the XT5 discovered the XT4. I have been a bit of a rag on the XT5 but admit that it is probably the core product for Cadillac right now and the one that keeps the doors open the most along with the Escalade. And so the XT5 is positioned to sell (to the women like mentioned above by someone, c'mon this is the truth). Looking at all the competition in one place it is true, the Cadillac interior does lack when compared to nice high end Mercedes and BMW, and then you look at Ford Edges and the like and you understand that Cadillac perceives their best sales volume to be in the squishy zone that is above the mainstream brands but not top tier. They position their crossovers to blend some perception of luxury but not be exclusive. I think the XT6 is needed, it's unfortunate its a frankenstein rushed to market with parts bin approach but it is far too clear that crossovers is where the sales volume is, and this is the quick way to solve that for Cadillac. Cadillac could and should improve interiors and try to offer something more enticing in the powertrain department than just the 3.6. Unless Cadillac can feel like they can exclusively compete in the market only in higher priced segments, we will continue to have B grade interiors and common powertrains. On the higher trim packages the Cadillacs do make a much better impression on interiors so maybe the problem is the base level interiors that they feel they need to keep their base trim vehicles attractively priced. EVERYONE at these shows is looking almost entirely at crossovers and trucks. So you can understand why Cadillac may be wanting to soften the quest for excellence and just try to get stuff out there that sells while the market is scorched earth. (I would even suggest that Cadillac should consider offering a pickup again). I spent a lot of time in this sweet rig yesterday. Had a nice long conversation with a gentlemen and his very young son (his son proudly said he was 'a Cadillac man too'). Heard some other people talk at length too and ask some of the reps some questions. One of the reps told someone the CT6 will go on 'haitus' for a year or so in about a year or two and will be 'redesigned'. Not easy to decipher if that means whole new model or if current model changes plants and gets some cosmetic surgery. I would have taken this sweet CT6 as is exactly (although i wish it were the twin turbo). Crystal white plus tan. oOh yeah. People still believe Cadillac is a large sedan brand, despite the Crossover focus, it is still clear Cadillac's stereotype is large crusing sedans. When they have gotten away from that the last ten years or so like they have that partially explains Cadillac's faltering. It also explains that I believe to still have a large sedan in the future is critical for brand image, crossovers be darned. How well Cadillac does this car and the Escalade IMO will do far more to keep Cadillac's image than getting too tricky on the crossovers part. Crossovers, just give the people what they want and cash the checks.
  6. at this point to me, i like how the Pacifica drives, if it were either, and it kept the same v6, it'd be something I'd look at seriously.
  7. nope they're working on EV's hahahahah
  8. A coworker has a Q-something i have been in a couple times. I have no idea why it's considered so nice inside. But that one is black inside. Still, The XT5 interior is highly dependent on trim and color to leave an impression and the XT6 interior is very similar. Caddy shoulda done better
  9. jUST SAYIN vw BUICK this WILL SELL THESE THINGS https://www.autoevolution.com/news/vw-arteon-trunk-is-big-enough-for-a-ukrainian-brunette-to-rest-in-121846.html
  10. We love ours, but now this past winter, I do think AWD would be nice to have. I think i could live with losing the Stow N Go because of it. But at the same time, i had thought if Chrysler put out a new 3 row crossover SUV with AWD and same drivetrain I might prefer that and get away from the minivan. Main reason is kids are growing up and concern for flinging doors around not as much. Also, I would prefer to get vehicle with real center console and shifter. The twist knob for a shifter is ok to use and space efficient, but at the end of the day, I still like a shifter. Cadillac XT4 or a small knob like on the Regal with a is the way to go if you still want your man card. Minivan sales DO suffer in part due to lack of AWD in this neck of the woods.
  11. the very first thing i thought. this 2020 sonata looked fresh for about an hour. And now it already looks faux to me. Still better than that hot mess camry though
  12. with the specs it says, it should be a 6 second car. I'm not sure it needs a v6. Look to the Passat 3.6 to see the times on that, unless we mean turbo v6. Regal 4 is a better car than the v6 AWD GS. GS is marginally faster, but the four cylinder is better in that car. It depends if the v6 is any good or not. GM's 3.6 is sort of not mind blowing.
  13. will be cool to see how the engine performs.
  14. the quest for CAFE has had manufacturers whittling away at cabin volume and shape and size with aggression the last 10 years and for bigger people (of which there are plenty of in this country) it does make for tight cabins. The Volt for example was a pretty useless car, no wonder they have to kill it. Why not a Ford Edge or explorer sized electric car?
  15. the company i work for got a bunch of the new style 19 silverados for their construction field people. So they must have got them for a decent price arrangement. I wanted to go out and look at a 4 popper today but couldn't make it out. They are discounted nicely now.
  16. Lots of good Blazer pictures in this article. Loaded up premier. https://www.motor1.com/photo/3801689/2019-chevy-blazer-premier-awd-review/
  17. maybe crossovers will never be exciting. But they are practical. I would go for the ST Edge in comparison too. I wanted to go drive a Stelvio today. Didn't get around to it, but that starts looking like even an option in comparison, Fiat be damned.
  18. I have a sinking feeling q1 will be a bloodbath for GM. I hope I am wrong. On the bright side, last week of March they may be throwing thousands more on the hood in addition to what’s already on there, to anyone with a pulse and an SSN to fill out a credit app. wow look at alpha romeos year to date. Lol
  19. DOH! Again! 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS and 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Face Off: Which Is Detroit's Best Two-Row Mid-Size SUV?
  20. this will become the litmus test to see if muhrican consumers are willing to skip the dealer.
  21. Many Cadillac dealers that require probably more sales volume just to keep the doors open.
