  1. yeah and because you see so many moms pulling their kids around the mall in radio flyers? um, deny the mom the stroller and she denies your soldier.
  2. in my mind, baby gear is the definite factor in whether a sedan or suv doesn't cut the mustard. usually the stroller and pack and play is the make or break items. those two things alone will kill a mid size sedan trunk or crossover cargo area. for a lot of folks too, bicycles. the g8's trunk to me looks sizable enough for most folks with 1 to 2 kids, as long as the stroller isn't around. the g8's trunk has large dimensions but isn't very high and the cargo area is not extended much by folding the rear seat. overall though the g8 is one of the better hauling sedans. my 500 was pretty much the most useful sedan available. huge trunk. you could get baby gear in there and have room for groceries. you could pack for a weekend with the fam and even fit the bicycle and scooter in there. the front and rear seats fold too and really make for a useful ride. there's not many more sedans that have that kind of functionality. Honestly not a lot of crossovers or SUV's do either. the aztek can haul pretty much anything a van will, except it does not have the length or third row in the cargo area. the seats fold and tumble and pull out. the tek would easily swallow the stroller and pack and play and tons of other bags and coolers and you still wouldn't block the rear window. i laugh at things like the cx-9. put anyone in the third row, and you have no trunk space. what's the point? Get a van......if cargo is a big factor. the taurus x we did not think we would have a need for lots of huge cargo, but to be honest its not near as useful as the aztek is. although the x's flip fold seats in the third row rock. from what i recall, the equinox has a good sized cargo hold if the second row is moved up far and it doesn't have the space robbing wheel arches with the slots for the tray. the xl7 is a 3 row equinox. truth is, for a three row i don't think its all that useful. but just as a 2 row, its not bad. the xl7 ranks as the vehicle i test drove that i absolutely wanted to get out of right away. i thought it was a terrible. strange, considering how much i liked the vue. now the gxp torrent might drive a lot better than that xl7. i sure hope it does. and honestly i thought the g8 gt was a nice car. the v6 version did not impress me. the redndezvoux was probably the best packaged crossover pre lambda that GM had. lots of room in the cargo hold. not a huge hulking vehicle. a way better packaging solution than the equinox, etc.
  3. read the comments on that thread. a couple of pro toyota loosers, and lots of anti toyota sentiment too. funny stuff.
  4. moving forward
  5. i wonder if i could have convinced him to take the aztek off my hands instead......
  6. any truth to the rumor that the next GTO will be G3 based?
  7. perhaps they could even do an 'aircraft aluminum' spoiler on the hatch and lots of plastic cladding to appeal to the fast and furious set.
  8. maybe his wife or even the dude didn't want a rwd only car, bad in winter.
  9. or they could have had the first '333' special edition badges.
  10. it's called 'paying for sex'. if you don't get the wife her car of choice you get no sex (this does not apply in my household fortunately) if you don't get the sex from your wife you have to get it either from yourself (only so much before that gets old) or from another woman. the second option there actually costs you too, in the form of a nasty costly divorce and alimony. as with most anything in life, it comes back to money, food, shelter, and sex.
  11. that rear hatch looks awfully familiar......(to the aztek in my garage)
  12. lmao
  13. every weekend we take my daughter to the local donut place and have donuts and milk and coffee. it's a dive, but she likes donuts. so the clientele is kind of rough. last weekend someone was there with a new hyundai genesis. it was a beautiful car. (needs a new grille). perfect car for the times, actually. if you were wealthy and couldn't get a new S-Class. It's a Hyundai, so folks can't look at you dirty. They have Hyundais at the airport. any future GM platform regardless of which way the engine sits, should be able to sell with AWD right out of the chute.
  14. this is the best looking buick sedan since the 95 riv (and how long BEFORE THAT?) and yet people are being raggy about it looking 'foreign' or 'not buick'. step back people. this is huge. enjoy it for once! that said, seems to me like some of the interior plastic could be better. cool thing. park this thing NEXT to the 95 riviera. they look perfectly in company with each other, don't they?
  15. different strokes, sure. but how many of you coupe lovers are out there. seems to me the business case is not there to do it. pontiac even killed the grand prix coupe on the last go round. and the GTO (great car) didn't sell either. Scion Tc is the only coupe i recall selling decently lately. Mini and 3 series too. The last domestic mid priced coupe besides the mustang to sell at all was.......? IMHO if you want a coupe, the camaro is here and mustang is decent now too. lots of rice coupes out there too. I think the market could tolerate a hardtop convertible riviera coupe. can nayone find #'s on what %age of the market is coupes these days? 10%? the g7 GTO concept should be a go in my eyes. but i believe pontiac as a whole should not be gutted.
  16. it's simple. most buyers don't like coupes. they're all lucky to sell the coupes they do. if you loathe sedans, then crossovers and suv's must make you batty. simply put. joe american has only x dollars a month in his checking account. they must get maximum value for their car purchase. function is a major priority. no dollar can be wasted. most cars are owned by more than one person. those people have kids and co workers and geriatric relatives. let me see if you'd enjoy me coming to your house and raising the threshold of your bathroom door to 42" above finished floor. all of a sudden taking a pee begins to be a big pain the ass. just like climbing in the back of a car when its a coupe. lest you rip me on this. late 60's bonne? early 70's elcamino, 73 vega, 74 vega, 76 chevette, 73 monte, 77 electra (which remained in my person till 94)...95 tird. all coupes. once i got a sedan, it was no looking back. i spent many years of my childhood climbing in the back of the monte and the electra with my sisters and now i think, what the eff was dad thinking? i have nothing against coupes. finding a gently used last gen cougar with 5 speed intrigues the $h! out of me right now. but to be honest, to justify wasting my money on a vehicle with such poor function, i'd need to be wealthy and need it to be like my 5th car right now. the astra 3 door i would like if rear window visibility wasn't terrible. after nights like tonight, you keep thinking awd crossover is the best way to go, even if its ugly and all of that.
  17. yup. its a huge mistake. chevy needs to come through in this scenario, but i question if it ever will.
  18. and here i thought it was time for chrysler to die. well done. i hope we see this in the showrooms.
  19. ride and handling and acceleration better than a DTS too.
  20. yeah, its a wide butt. a nice improvement over the current taurus. its not beautiful. but it is decent and just fine to compete with the imports. to me the c pillar and rear door are g6-ey.
  21. what GM will brand serve the younger mid size and compact demographic? too many folks don't want a chevy. can't afford caddy. don't want a buick. there is no saturn or pontiac to plug that gap. well, GM got the cash but now must bend to what everyone else wants. here's the thing. saturn may just transfer ownership somehow because of their unique arrangement. are they neccessarily dead? GM already said they can't find a saab buyer. and pontiac still having 4 models etc. is not niche to me. maybe in volume, but the brand will still be there and need some marketing effort. let's close down chrysler entirey please if we need to get rid of pontiac.
  22. well, congress could require GM to get rid of corvettes camaros and CTSv's instead.
  23. well it sure sells well now when you consider 10 years ago, no one in this country would spend money on small cars without a lot of space. the driving qualities of it obviously are a reason, but an equal amount of it is the fashion/bmw component.
