  1. yeah and it's also several thousand cheaper. and the fwd based crossovers are much more popular with the market. i don't see the GC getting 30mpg rating on the highway. urban legend about GC's is that they rarely exceed mid teens in fuel economy.
  2. these live shots look a little nicer. front end is still boring as hell.
  3. Happy Easter to you as well (and those that still seem to recognize it or other religious holidays, aside from when people want a day off from work, or need to use it as a reason to shop and buy presents, which is when they suddenly become religious for a couple days).
  4. truth is when GM shuts down saturn and pontiac, all that volume will go out the door. volume and share. japan and korea will get those sales. VW is the only german brand that sells affordable cars. No one is going to ditch pontiac and buy even a 1 series. they can't even keep the price of those reasonable.
  5. 'teasing' usually means the end result is something awesome. i.e. teasing for sex etc. to use the word teasing and show us this is wrong, totally wrong.
  6. assuming the BMW is in good shape you'd have to say that however, the cobalt would be covered powertrain for 5/100. the BMW has what 43k warranty left? if you were in a salt state, too, the new car might be a better option as it has not been in salt for 4 years like the BMW might be (if it were driven in winter). you generally shouldbe suspect of rust being possible in any car 5 years or older.
  7. yeah, it has a lot of the same bland Korean ness. The Terrain is now the macho king. actually this vehicle is nicely redone, but inside and outside, its been stripped of personality. The average car buyer cannot tell this a Jeep from first glance. The front, in particular, where a vehicle of this status needs to make an immediate and unmistakable impression, fails in its unimaginative blandness. Side and rear is an improvement over the front at least but hints a bit at imitating the X5. The Phoenix engine, its about time. why only a 5 speed? I have no doubt this is a solid product but it really lacks panache.
  8. well the voters asked for that when they put all the dems in office
  9. those photos are really telling. i think maybe if people saw the issues regarding detroit played out in pictures rather than internet spewage, maybe people would wake up and understand what an issue it is 'global economy'. everyone in this country will have a day of reckoning. Someone told me the other day about a relative that had a doctor appt. the PA or whatever did the exam and sent the info and charts to the doctor....in INDIA. SO now even our health care is being outsourced. We won't see the 'people that matter' care about this until all the stuff like 'marketing and sales' starts to get outsourced. Or financial.
  10. it's really disturbing that GM may axe both saturn and pontiac, and assume they will get ANY of the young persons demographic with Chevy alone. i got my pontiac magazine in the mail yesterday, and even now, articles and snippets about buick and GMC are invading that......as if soon to say, well, pontiac is no longer car, pontiac is no longer...... interesting story. my buddy the VW banger who finally decided to sell his beloved passat (because he got his new company car, a malibu which he likes a lot) calls me to tell me about which rentals he gets. A couple weeks ago he called me because he got a G6 GXP as a rental and he said he really loved that car too. Today he called me, said he got a regular G6, and he did not like it all. (I for one think the G6 is not bad, not great but overall still alright). All the things that make the good car are the things that Pontiac needs to include in each car on the lot. And they can, if they commit resources to it. Its not like Pontiac needs more than 3, 4 cars. The Cruze is nice and all, CHevy is headed in the right direction, etc. Buick appears on the uptick. But GM is committing major suicide on the younger demographic I feel. Which is why even after all this, they won't have a brand in place to cultivate new buyers in the future.
  11. don't rip the new SRX until you see it in the flesh. I have, it's hot. also, having seen the CTS wagon and new nox in the flesh, i can also say all three are distinctive. you WILL NOT mistake the Equinox for the SRX. If people paid attention, they would see they are all styling knockouts.
  12. 010 equinox starts at 23 and change BTW
  13. currently astra is 0/72. incentives will vary. models with cloth, no sunroof, etc. are actually priced pretty well. the automatic in that car i would not buy but the manual is a different story. its a much better car than the cobalt etc. and the cobalt is not bad. if you want an automatic then perhaps the cobalt / G5 is a better powertrain. I really want an astra but by the time i get cash flow again there may be better options out there for me. Something like a cheap lease on a 2010 fusion manual might be all the car i need.
  14. i would love to see mark leneve or bob lutz sit this guy down and give him a good talking to. what a complete tool.
  15. journey is bland and korean generic (it would be so suited for KIA badges all over it) but at least its not say, an avenger. the Terrain will do well, depending on price. its a better design than the torrent, its different from the equinox, and is generally superior in many ways to many other vehicles in the crossover segment. maybe the reason GMC went for the Jeep look is because despite all the 'Jeeps' available, there is not really a desirable Jeep CROSSOVER in this price and size category. Liberty is a truck. Grand Cherokee is pricier, Compass and Patriot are smaller and aren't really good anyways.
  16. stick or automatic?
  17. way better than the pilot, for sure. you know, looking at the Jalopnik pictures, does anyone see any current SRX in the side profile? Its almost like they transferred the SRX wagon look into this thing a little.
  18. quite honestly GMC sells simply because some people like GM but refuse to drive anything Chevrolet no matter what.
  19. is it because there is too much Jeep in some of the lines?
  20. do ya really need the baconlube to know it tastes like bacon?
  21. well people, if you like the equinox and don't like the terrain, GM has you covered. If you don't like the Equinox but you like the Terrain, then GM has you covered. If you don't like either, Ford has a lovely Edge they will sell you. this thing is unabashedly a truck. GMC = truck. So, take a few deep breaths and things will be ok. Traverse = sloped rear. Acadia = upright rear. Same deal. Next point, this is a major upgrade over the Torrent (just make sure if you want the GXP torrent get it now). Next point, you can have a VENZA if you want, LOL. Forester? CRV? Lastly, I have an Aztek in my garage which despite not being pretty looks ok (aside from the rear), and the terrain looks way better than the aztek. But the X6, my God, one of the ugliest things on four wheels ever. How BMW can sell even one of those is beyond me. Square wheel arches are the biggest exterior design flaw on this thing for me, way to Jeep. The grille can get fixed and even yet its still better than the torrent. But look at the rear doors and the way the metal kicks back up behind the glass, but not on top of the glass. I love that detail. Sweet. If anyone can name me a better looking vehicle in this segment than this, I'd like to know. Seriously. Aside from the Edge, and you can argue the Edge is in the next price class anyways. The Edge is simply the best looking 2 row mid-large crossover out there. (BTW the Edge Sport w/ 22" wheels is GORGEOUS in person).
  22. there's a little jeep compass side profile creepiness going on here. mostly in the wheel arches. i'm fine with this, aside from the way too big grille and the lack of uniqueness on the instrument panel. But if this keeps someone away from a RAV4, CRV, or Forester, then woo hoo. Seriously, how can you bitch about the Terrain when there is crap like the Forester and RAV4 on the market? Caveat, the GMC should have gotten the 3.6.
  23. there are probably the idiots in sales and marketing in GM that came up with some hairbrained scheme of trying to make Pontiac like a Scion. Small little asian type $h!boxes that are 'fast and furious'. Then there is the mullet contingent that really wouldn't mind the rise of the firechickens. And i think there are those out there that still think cladded monsters and sorority girl grand ams are the way to go. Then you have the area where Pontiac needs to be. Cars like the G8. Great performers, great style, accessible price. No attempts at rice. No trying to be Gucci. Honestly if GM would just invest in a new G6 we wouldn't need this conversation about pontiac. Pontiac COULD survive on 3 cars. A compact, midsize, and large. The large does not need to sell in huge volume. A roadster like the solstice would be nice too. Buick could be like 6 models. Pontiac 4. GMC is trucks plus a couple crossovers. Is it really this hard? Remember, NOT EVERYONE WANTS A CHEVY. EVEN IF BPG is shut down THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT GO BUY ALL CHEVYS.
  24. Chevy will have a fairly new Malibu, Cruze, Equinox, Camaro, by next summer. Not bad. Should be about then the economy finally picks up?
  25. this may the convergence of 'family car' and 'small car'. big enough to work for family duty and small enough to be a true economy car. I like this car. Of course i want more pop under the hood. It'd be nice to see chevy offer a 180hp intermediate version and the 260hp ecotec in a perf version. This car reminds me of when the corsica and beretta were out. everyone had one or knew someone who did. hopefully that is the case here. How will this car look with a pontiac grille?
