  1. GM will be at 11-12% share before too long I'm afraid. i just need to take advantage of my GM card balance while i still can.
  2. desperation leasing is all they need. corollas 129 a month!!!!!!!!!! LMAO that all the cahmrees and corollas hitting auction there days are bringing in kia resale.
  3. tragedy how GM as a company could not have that car here in the US right now. GM never managed to figure out how to get some of its best cars here in its largest, home market. Opel should supply the new Saturn with the new Astra and Insignia and give mother GM the collective 'FU'
  4. why dodge exists and pontiac doesn't is criminal.
  5. i'd like to see opel contract out the next astra design to saturn once both are free from GM, but aside from that, the megane would be my next choice to continue on as the saturn small car. the new megane is very nice. however i am still hoping to snag that loaded white astra XR 5 speed on the dealer lot on town here, my sales guy emails me every month to see if i am back on the job train yet. i better be soon, i suspect my gm card will no longer be good on saturn very soon and that astra may be gone. fusion, flex, edge, TAURUS (SHO!) all have my interest now. an HHR or cobalt or magnum / 300 / charger possibly. I will even look at the camaro. i have a feeling my 4 day old son would like a stylish ride to be driven around in, showing him off to a bunch of my female ex coworkers........
  6. equal and fair trade is good. why is japan bitching, their exports went to pot when car sales tanked. they have a trade defecit now, and they cannot function well that way. which is why they are turning the screws up to us so they can get their gravy train going again. its not just japan anymore either. VW just extorted all sorts of money to build stuff in where, KY or VA? Move in for the kill, we outsourced all our other jobs so yeah people will be dying to work for 12 bucks an hour in a factory.
  7. it got totalled before the frame rusted out?
  8. funny you mention this. in car and driver's comparo, the scoupe coupe got 1 mpg better on their combined loop (which was likely like 300 miles or something, not enough to get the true mpg). the camaro's highway epa is 3 mpg better than the tiburon XL, yet, the gave one more point for the tibby than the camaro. if you look at the gearing its flat out obvious the camaro will far exceed on a long road trip what the scoupe coupe will get in 6th at highway speeds. so i find it laughable to even suggest the mpg issue is anything but a draw. the fact that the camaro does over 10 percent better on the highway loop while weighing more is that much more appealing because once the car is up to speed say at 75 mph, the weight of the car becomes less of an issue than the torque level and drag in that 6th gear to maintain cruising speed. the mpg an owner gets in town with the stick will be more about how much throttle the driver gives it rather than anything else. the hyundai is a great car but all it does is meet a techinical standard. its design as well as the sedan is ubitquitous and while handsome in both guises if it didn't have a badge on it, you would think its any asian rim product. you don't need a badge to know you are looking at a camaro or mustang or nissan z. the genesis coupe is lighter but 56% of the weight is in front, its the engine. subtract that and i really think what you have is an underengineered chassis for hormonally charged youths that will beat the $h! out of this car and probably find out that a car engineered for a v8 that is built to take punishment may be a better proposition long term. look at pictures under the hood of the tibby xl, do you think those stampings are near as robust as the camaro? no where yet have i read the scoupe coupe has been tested extensively on the track or in racing so i should believe the car won't be a wet noodle in 4 years.
  9. my point exactly. just because some ugly duckling is now an up and comer still doesn't mean its the best option against the one that set the standard. its all about some people wanting to find the 'next big thing'. take off that hyundai badge and put a mitsubishi badge on it and people wouldn't give a $h!. the eclipse BTW is better looking etc., just as fast, only thing the wrong wheels are driving the car for a true sports coupe. For me even its not an issue there as i know any of the eclispe and other chimpokemon coupes like the accord and altima are just as quick.
  10. because crowds of people are going to line up to look at your scoupe if you pull up into the restaurant parking lot. no one will remember the scoupe coupe 20 years from now. you wouldn't even have a clue what asian make it was (prob chinese of all things) if it didn't have a badge on it. seriously. car and driver said the scoupe large was unrefined. for me, the only demerits to the camaro are about 200 extra pounds and a dash that needs a redo. you know the zeta will take punishment so i am okay with the extra 200 pounds. i can buy that car and know 10 years from now it will be solid and not a limp noodle. i lack any belief the hyundai can handle hard driving long term. but in the end, the genesis is not adequate in styling. its only calling card is that it is new. its the same thing as if you see a new young chick walk in the bar. she's new and different and young. but she is probably not as hot as the hottest cougar you've enjoyed for years. by the way, the hyundai's front end has 56% of the weight on it, the camaro only 52%. the camaro has better balance. what's laughable is that if the tiburon XL had a mitsubishi badge on it, folks would be ripping it.
  11. screw them. bite me. all of that. simply put. if you spend your money, sure you want a great product. but if you care even just a $h! about anyone besides yourself, i don't care if its your neighbor, countrymen, family, etc. and you like the American way of life and prosperity for all, then you would care just a little f@#king bit about keeping companies here strong because other countries do not play fair in trade and use our weak pussy mentality against us. typically people who seem to not care are ones who work in idustries that they don't feel their own jobs are threatened by ownership moving overseas. trust me, how would you enjoy it if your company went tits up because 2/3 of the work went overseas? Generally all that gets left here is 'sales and marketing'. HA. marketing and sales is needed to make up for $h! product. People today think marketing is more neccessary than product. World economy, would you rather our citizens be doing the work, or somewhere else, driving our collective brain power down the $h!ter?
  12. camry and corolla need to be off this list.
  13. honda bangers typically are in demographics that are more paper pusher, urban, etc. typically those who have made more money to start with. even if they got their job hacked or income slashed, they probably were buying acuras. so stepping down from an acura to a honda is roughing it. even if the accord is an average car overall.
  14. the hertz near my house i drive by frequently is always pretty much only toyota, hyundai, kia, mazda, and nissan these days.
  15. the hertz near my house i drive by frequently is always pretty much only toyota, hyundai, kia, mazda, and nissan these days.
  16. MKs sales are disturbingly low. Flex quite good! More than making up for the Taurus X. FUsion is booming, but note, Milan is down.
  17. i need to find the link. its actually at least 15.6%. combine that with people who are underemployed and have to accept pay cuts and its well over 20%. me, out of work since Jan and no hope in sight. this economy is bull$h!. was just talking with my sister. she and i both agree, all the companies are going to pay big time when things pick up again. having to remake their employment staff which they lost to firings and cut wages and turnover. not my problem. i basically lost any allegiance to anyone after this go round. hate to say it, but at some point, the effort you put into work has to have some reward. I drive an Aztek for crying out loud. If that doesn't prove lack of reward........ dfelt, i am really sorry about this. a lot of people will try to cheer you up and offer advice now, but honestly most of the time to those folks unless i can really gauge their sincerity, i just let it go in one ear and out the other. people don't need life coaches or encouragement right now, they need work. its a segway for me but what the heck i will throw it out there. one person i was working with got involved in a startup for a new venture here, but it involves someone well off starting a company and utilizing overseas factories to build a knockoff product here in the states. big savings over the competition (which is made in US) but if this pans out it will be a competitor selling for much less. great business venture, but a sign of the times. drive down our wages or take our jobs from here and send them overseas.
  18. like most people, they have the wrong perception of GM. (on this particular item only in your case) the vette is one of the lightest cars out there. its physical footprint belies the genius engineering to keep the car super light like it is, its also why the vette will get 30mpg on a road trip if you dont slam the throttle. IIRC the nissan 350z is even heavier than the vette. the vette is almost as light as the vw golf / jetta is heavy.
  19. it also wasnt long ago grand prix sold 200k and grand am like 300k and pontiac as a brand was close to a mill........
  20. GM basically will have nothing to offer younger buyers or performance minded drivers. Unless you can foot the bill for an expensive CTS and even then you might still want the 3 series. GM s really screwing the pooch here. Honestly if there was no new camaro they had to make do with, GM would have nothing to hang its hat on for anyone who wants fun and a reasonable price tag.
  21. you are referring to the notion that the younger set does not want a buick..... pontiac needed cars. the g6 and solstice were the last specific pontiacs. g8 was done as a quick way to replace the pontiac flagship...it was not originally a pontiac. Obviously the OM agenda and greenies with the axe are in control now so perhaps the notion of pontiac could have had an entire new lineup by now if GM had greenlighted the funds 3 years ago would have been intriguing. an all new alpha range of G6 products......g8 in many variants including wagon and truck, and maybe even a new compact pontiac with a turbo or something EXCITING!!!!!. we all should have known something was amiss when no replacement was planned for the g6 and grand prix. the solstice being introduced just kept everyone from noticing how pontiac was being starved. well, now that we are in damage control......what would make sense and what OM/Tarp patrol wants Buick to do are two different things. I would think however what is absolutely critical is to launch the LaCrosse with complete attention and keep the pricing attractive so it comes out of the gate ok. Secondly, I would get the REGAL here as fast as possible. In all forms including OPC. the regal is the model that can possibly grab younger buyers and it MUST make the transition from the insignia seamlessly. The Lucerne has to be kept and supported but there is limited options for what to do with it and how long. I would question if it didnt make sense to do a rename.....LESABRE......and plant the 3.6DI and 6 speed into it with a new interior. Then, lets have the holden chinese PARK AVENUE pronto. Redo the grille but otherwise bring us that goods. By 2012 then the Lesabre and park avenue would need to be consoldiated and replaced with one new large sedan. The chinese excelle / astra variant would if it comes here need to be the SKYLARK. I could honestly see a sedan and wagon being viable with a buick badge. (Pontiac should have gotten the astra). Its too bad the g6 hardtop convertible or some other vehicle could not have become the RIVIERA. Perhaps the Vue will become the RENDEVOUZ. Not a bad idea but inside and out the VUe needs a makeover to be a proper Buick and the dual mode hybrid would be essential as would a better 4 popper and add a 6 speed. I would curtail Enclave production to maintain its exclusivity. Can we get a dual mode Enclave? my strategy is to promote and revive as many of the classic old buick marques are possible. make it a true revival. go down swinging. Buick then may need to get involved in racing etc. if they want the younger set to have any interest in buick. and we may need to see things like T-types and Grand Nationals, i.e. dechromed Buicks. Imagine the horror at seeing your first Insignia with a Buick badge and a fake convertible top and pinstripes........ The Regal revival is THE critical Buick though. How much effort GM puts into / if they bring it here will clearly show if GM is not planning to axe Buick in another 3 years........
  22. enraged crazy woman with a pulpit..........
  23. you become a star in hollywood and want to spend money, you buy a big house. part of the reason mini has the aura it does is because it is a bmw. a front drive discount bmw. in the frame of reference to the mini actually being a bmw, it ain't no flagship. conversely, the flagship mini could not sell for near as much as a flagship bmw. why? size. no one will pay the same for a tiny mini as they would for an S class. the price tag has to reflect the difference. the small to big perception thing is not US cars alone. shi--t little toyota or scion, Lexus LS. Hyundai accent to Genesis sedan. little to big. the price varies accordingly. just like the size of your fries at mcdonalds or 1, 2, 3 patties on your burger at wendys.
