maybe be 2014 buick better change their image fast. they would hate to having to give away free life insurance policies and hearing aid consults with each purchase, just to move the metal.
-
hilarious that buick is adding models when thy are probably adding as many models as pontiac had cancelled. pontiac buyers would have preferred all these new models say pontiac on them.

i thought exactly the same thing as well. truth is, to me either would be fine. i could have the sedan, and my wife would be ok with the equinox. the taurus trunk is huge and the mpg on the taurus is very good as well. i've had a 500 and now a taurus x and i can say the P90 fords are solid cars. the new taurus can only be that much better. to me the equinox is already at the top of the small crossover class. better than a crv thats ugly and cant get out of its own way, and a rav that is junky to drive and junkily made.

any clunker cars in your family? maybe a 4500 boost with the help of a clunker in the future would help you achieve the v8.

i checked some out yesterday and might as well just repost some of what i said in the other thread.

hard to say you're marketing to youth when you still sell the wheelcovers to the same blue hairs you are trying to pretend you don't want to buy your cars.....
-
i suppose a milan hybrid could be had for a lacrosse+plastic wheelcovers price. i know a fusion sport or loaded SEL fusion, for sure. a loaded hyundai sonata for like 20 g OTD with big warranty stacks up nicely to this also. i love domestic brand cars but they are not quite getting it with MSRP pricing anymore lately. i guess that's why they say 'the incentives are built in to the price'.
-
by the way are those wheelcovers on it or those cheesy steel wheels GM is trying to foist on all their cars now?
-
how many million of that same steering wheel will we see? at least its nice. well, we'll have to make final judgment upon sitting in one, but the pictures seem to indicate shiny less than beautiful plastics, as i recall seeing of this car at the autoshow. smk is right, the new taurus, may end up being better inside. i sat in a new 010 taurus limited a couple weeks ago and the bar is very high. its really nice inside. i hope the material quality doesn't let down the design.....as is very frequent in GM cars.

Blu, do you like the Avalanche? Or you prefer the Silverado to that? I wonder if the Colorado ultimately is much more cost effective. It still seems to me Chevy doesn't sell the Colorados for much less than the Silverados. Specifically it seemed to me the 4.8 and 5.3 Silverados don't do too badly for mileage? LOL maybe there are some silverado hybrids already deeply discounted........ Does the Colorado ride quite a bit choppier than the full sizers?

i looked at a few equinox on the lot today. SHARP VEHICLE! a loaded one is too pricey (north of 34k) but the base LS i looked at aside from hideous cloth pattern was really sweet. the dash is cool, and the whole thing is great stylish value. its a very largish looking vehicle and has style all over the asian competition. way more charisma than the escape too. i even coerced my wife to take a peek at it, and she even agreed it was sharp. she said it should have a third row, but i explained that the point exactly then would be to get a traverse, which she then obliged to liking as well upon seeing it. what is perplexing is the equinox v6 awd basically has the same mpg as the traverse. but the fwd 4 popper has excellent mpg. really is a sharp vehicle. if it drives at all like the Vue's i have driven (or better) i could say its a great drive too. The dash and interior looks really cool. Spacewise it looks no different than the current Nox, which itself is very spacious and with the flex rear seat. Now i am even more curious about a test drive. My friend who was gonna get a Vue, has an avalanche now but has wanted to downsize, was interested in the equinox, i bet if he checks one out he'll prob buy one I'm guessing. Funny thing is the Equinox in upper trims and equipment is a little too close to some Ford Edge pricing. The Edge of course is a solid larger vehicle. Not by much in terms of size, but much heavier I am guessing. But unless the equinox comes with some rebates and discounting i would think a lot of folks might lean towards a discounted edge before an MSRP Equinox. The Edge actually has even worse mpg for the AWD6 than the nox, although real world things i have seen on the edge suggests the mpg is better than the EPA ratings. My Taurus X i think is rated 15/22 or 16/23 but recently has been averaging 20-22 in all driving. I would guess a front drive equinox could manage 25mpg consistently.

cheap interior plastic

i think lots of the other compact entries are making more market share inroads. and i do think some chevy fans know the cruze is coming in a year. lots of the cobalts on lots now too are the ones without power windows and locks and stuff. people can go get an elantra loaded with stuff like that for not much more and its a more complete market entry than the cobalt. i think if gas goes north of 3.25 again, then cobalt sales will pick up. i was shopping for one for myself, and i could get one dirt cheap but even then i almost would prefer to wait.

don't some folks purposely lose money in stocks for tax writeoffs?

lambdas! up! camaro outsold aveo and cobalt combined. take that small car fans! saturn = my oh my.

66 Stang is an Idiot, or Moron perhaps
regfootball replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
ouch! gave some blood for the greater good! heal up, take care of yourself in the meantime. glad you came out of it to the extent and not something worse. -
hopefully that will justify the prices.

1-Camaro and Firebird died together so any critique on that move meant the Camaro should be rightly criticized as well, but in fairness it was still an SUV boom and GM did not put money into pony cars then. 2-yes the GP was majorly botched, including no DOHC v6 option and no coupe although i doubt the coupe would have sold much, and especially would not have been needed much if the firebird did still exist. 3-all true, although at the time GM needed to rename the cars because the grand am and grand prix names had such a terrible stigma. hindsight now suggests keeping the grand am name may have been better. i bet most folks would not even know what a g6 is, and i bet virtually no one knew the g6 had a coupe and convertible. 4-bonneville was the executive express. the last bonne lacked rear cabin space as did the aurora and so there was no functional difference to the grand prix mostly. plus all the busy dashboard stuff. basically GM lost the large sedan business to the imports by this point. the bonneville in the 90's was an aspirational car. 5-see 3. g6 coupe is one of the best looking coupes on the market. the convertible is truly innovative. not that anyone knows. 6-lol. no torrent should have ever existed. 7-again, true. why didn't the g5 have the grand am name or something and why didn't it get a standard 2.4 and optional ecotec turbo? why wasnt performance suspension and brakes standard? 8- the vibe was a product of the crossover craze and really it sold to people who pontiac didn't want as customers if they were serious about becoming a perfomance division. but you take every sale you can. the redo IMO was actually a big improvement but its still a toyota in feel. if the holden torana sedan and the holden g8 coupe concept had taken shape, and been legit along with full product lines sedan and coupe along with a fwd based compact chassis (sorry but the kiddies are buying mostly inexpensive fwd cars these days) pontiac would have been set. the torana and commodore in coupe sedan and wagon. the compact in coupe and hatch and sedan. the solstice. (camino i must say here i think the g8 ST really should have been an ElCamino with a chevy badge). By now also I think the g8 should have planned interior redo. a torana based g6 should be hitting showrooms soon if things went right. both g8 and g6 line should have opt AWD. i would have gone back to names, grand am, grand prix, maybe bonneville. since the past is now the past we just have to hope the camaro lives on long time, and that otherwise chevy picks up the excitement torch. its not looking good though. there is no cruze SS planned. Malibu as nice and pleasant as it is, really holds ZERO enthusiast appeal. We won't see a real Impala unless the g8 morphs into one for a couple years. the solstice is dead, there is no chevy kappa. I guess to some degree GM ridding themselves of all performance models pretty much forces you to buy a camaro if you want to have fun driving and cannot afford a CTSv. All of a sudden even that Cobalt SS is looking good, unless you can find a lightly used Malibu Maxx SS.........har har.....when the g8s are all spoken for. That Fusion Sport starts looking even better, unless you want to be seen in a Charger, and people will be shocked it doesnt have dubs and tinted windows.

when has any saab offered lots of room?

exactly how i felt when i saw the SRX at the autoshow. You need to see it in person. I thought the new equinox was the same way. It just has more presence in person.

had they put out a proper g6, and not botched the grand prix........ it was a case of half assed effort at the end. the g6 had a miserable interior with a terrible center stack and terrible steering wheel. in 2009.5 they fix all that stuff and kill the car. the DOHC v6 which could have been a staple product was only in the high price cars where a 16 thousand dollar hyundai sonata could be purchased with a competitive v6. the grand prix had an equally miserable interior, pancake roof, bad space utilization, and honestly was not that great of a drive. as recent as the late 90's everyone and their dog especially the youths were still buying pontiacs. the bonneville, grand prix, grand am, and sunfire all used to be in the top 20 in sales. pontiac only sold at the price points they did because the cars were cheaply appointed and young buyers don't have lexus money. that still doesn't mean they will buy a chevy, and it certainly does not mean they will buy a higher priced buick that they think their dead grandparents would only buy. GM as a whole suffers from terrible pricing and option structures, Pontiac and Buick were the worst. Until GM figures out how to equip and price and market their $h!, they still won't catch the youth crowd that is now realizing cars like KIAs come standard with things they want like USB ports and bluetooth. things that GM holds you hostage on option packages to get. I don't know this for fact, but if GM could not figure out how to make profit on say 1 million annual pontiac cars, and to lose that volume, that pretty much tells you all you need to know. That market is there, and its sad to see even mitsubishi continue on (or Dodge for that matter) while Pontiac gets the axe. This ranks up there with lost markets like the ford ranger (not ever updating it).

someone i know says ubuntu is good and a great way to avoid funding the microsoft empire. is it at a minimum that ok?

What are GM's plans for Canada with Pontiac gone?
regfootball replied to 2QuickZ's's topic in Heritage Marques
its a perfect example of how some folks do not want a chevy, they want something more unique and better, and that is what is maddening about ditching pontiac here. oh, but we will all want a buick apparently. -
(Motortrend) - 2010 Cadillac SRX vs. 2010 Lexus RX 350
regfootball replied to Z-06's topic in Cadillac
street sightings will drive traffic on this fine looking vehicle. instead of people saying, look at that homely cadillac wagon (which was a great drive) GM scored big renaming this as SRX.
