  1. our policy makers don't get it yet however! if we could just divert our funding / thievery for crap like global warming research to more useful things like.....fixing bridges so people do not die. that would be nice.
  2. what i find great is it finally suggests to all those accord driving zombies that what they have been lauding as Jesus on a stick instead is actually just something a little better than the mendoza line. the accord doesn't cure cancer. the accord doesn't pay for your child's college. it doesn't get you laid by the hot 20 something secretary at work, and it doesn't make your kid crack the starting lineup on the soccer team. what the underlying tone of the tag line is, is, so apparently its the best, but what has it done for you? Something so excellently perfect? Then why is it so soulless? Has there EVER been a Honda car that stirred the emotion? Chevy is basically saying, you only bought the accord because of its reputation as an appliance, and we are here to tell you you are missing something. The Malibu just might be PERFECTLY EXCELLENT. Toyota is a little bit smart. They knew that Camry nation would wane, so they reincarnated the Camry as a Venza to steal those who are sick of UJS appliances and decided to latch on to crossovers. Honda is in a way quite f@#ked because not only did they botch the latest Accord in terms of design, they really screwed the pooch with the Crostour. Miserably. So while Toyota can lose a Camry sale and be fairly confident they can make it up with a Venza sale, Honda has to worry about how they have basically effed up almost every product launch the last couple years by replacing a current model with one that is harder to sell. So now if even Chevy can start to pile on the Honda pile.........and Chevy can because even though the Malibu is not head and shoulders above mid pack, it has at least some emotion to it. I think they are picking on the Accord and Honda because quite honestly Honda has done plenty to deserve getting picked on.
  3. coupe 60 would have been a signature pontiac product. killer.
  4. i have ordered tires on tire rack but discount tire is truly the way to go.
  5. maybe with some luck we'll get something the likes of this, which is better, anyways.
  6. yes they want to milk the cobalt. also they want to launch the new model closer to traditional model year time frame. also i bet they have learned some of how cruze design could be faulty and try to fix more of it before launch. i bet the 1.4 was not supposed to be in the car, now it is, and its not ready in some ways to hit the showroom in april because of it. whether its the line, or problems with the final spec of it, whatever.
  7. i like the CC. I'd consider one with a 6MT. can't wait to see if Fusion is offered w/ ecoboost 4/MT. the fusion SE 4 cyl 6 speed is a pretty speedy car actually now in 2010. Subaru will likely have the best numbers. albeit peaky.

    2010 Altima

2010 Altima loses its manual transmission options according the article i just read on C/D. For the 4 and the 6. So, let's inventory this. which of the midsizers offer MT? start out with the 6 cylinders. anyone? Are there any 6 cyl. MT cars left in this class? Fusion, Camry, Accord, M6, Subie still offer it on the 4 cyl. Subaru 2.5GT is the only 'performance' manual now I think. Subie 2.5GT wins by default? VW Passat and CC offer manuals but they are only 207hp. Ford Ecoboost if it offers MT will slot in under the subie but above the others. Buick v6 Regal with manual may have that niche to themselves! SHOCKING!
  9. mine were less than 600 mtd bal at discount tire.
  10. CRV (just the start of what could be a very long list)
  11. Consumer Reports has their annual tire issue out now. Oddly enough, their top rated tire was Michelin in all categories i think. I have Michelin Hydroedge on the Aztek and they won their category. I like the Hydroedge, although the tread does not seem aggressive, they ride well, are quiet, and are pretty good in the wet. Your dilemma was similar to mine a few years ago with my 99 SHO. I had RS-A's (not that great of a tire BTW) on my SHO and needed to replace them. Although, i had about 65k miles on my RS-A's. Kind of curious how you only got 30k out of yours. RS-A's get loud, ride hard. They get decent mpg, but they also wear well in my experience. They were only average in wet and snow and in dry in my experience. Yet so many cars have them OEM. Perhaps the mfrs got deals on them as a speed rated cheap tire. I replaced the RS-A's on my SHO with Conti Extreme Contacts. Those were quieter, better in the wet. They handled differently too. They seemed like a better tire and were less expensive. They were like 110 a tire or something and were UHP all season. CR rated them fairly high. I have heard the latest Goodyear triple treads and assurance are great tires. CR's ratings backed them up. My HydroEdges are performing well on the Aztek although we know that vehicle does not certainly need tires like that. The Pirelli P6's I have had on the 500 and Taurus X are good tires. A bit stiff and a tiny bit loud, but they are a quality tire. Surprisingly good in snow and wet. I suggest at least reading the CR article this month and looking at all the tires they rated.
  12. sweet! can anyone say SSR?
  13. can i even send aztek pictures?
  14. it's soulless and unnerving.
  15. those would be MY 2 favorite colors BTW
  16. more like 'wtf is going on'? not at all in favor of this new layout. was the old one broken??????????????????????? um, ftr, i say no.
  17. i've test driven the malibu. with the 4 and 6 speed auto, as well as the similar 3.6 aura. i've also test driven the 010 outback with CVT. i can assure you the malibu has a more zingy persona. the subie has a bit nicer interior, mainly because of plastics. these people that bitch about cars not having problems. a car is a complex mechanical device. GM is not the only car to have problems! i took a weeklong course last week at a local U, and one day the prof comes in steamed because the CVT blew out on his murano. 2 weeks after the warranty ended. I thought nissan was a golden child! LMAO.....then a fellow student chimed in with a story on her honda automatic 5 speed that blew up. in any case, i believe some day the word will have finally gotten around that other non US manuf cars are buckets of bolts too. I will say this, i hear of CVT issues with so many cars that have the CVT. I ain't touching one. Not without a long ass warranty. I don't care if its subaru. i am trusting the traditional 6 speed in the mali before i fully trust a CVT. that was why i got the 500 with the 6 speed instead of the CVT.
  18. why get metamucil? fiber one granola bars will do the trick nicely. 2 of them will have you with a rear end trail of steam for a good part of the day, inclusive of urgent trips to the throne. to go with it, you get tasty chocolate bars. MMMMMM
  19. have an office pot luck and put some extra metamucil in his food. or ex lax.
  20. malibu and legacy are both good cars. i would take either of them, but the malibu has more charisma. there is no shame with the malibu as a choice. congrats!
  21. personally LaCrosse is fine because the new version is so attention getting. I would have preferred Insignia for the Regal, but I guess Regal is ok. I think to introduce a compact Buick and give it the Regal name would have been an interesting twist for me, but since its the Regal in China...... Verano and Encore quite honestly are pukey and dumb. Encore I can see the play on words to Enclave, but imagine the confusion with customers. Verano, yeah I'll have a Mocha Verano please? Idiots. that's so freaking stuffy white person. Skylark in 2009 sounds hilariously lame. Please leave that one in the books.
  22. Audi is no longer a style leader. its design themes are beyond stale. there is not a single audi that is stunning these days, aside from the R8.
  23. If GM packages a version of the Regal properly, it can majorly gain some of the attention of Passat / CC buyers. that involves, however, a decent 4 popp turbo. 220hp will not cut it. MT must be an option available. A turbo 4 pot Regal with MT at 3-4 cheaper than equivalent CC could make waves in the market. It could even grab a few A4 buyers i think.
  24. melodicrock should have the winger album review up soon. to me, i love winger 'in the heart of the young' but i think winger was more of a producer creation than the band being good on its own. "can't Get Enuff" is one of the tunes I still turn up to 11 in the car to get a throbbing bass fix, which is a lot easier to do now with Ford Sync. 'play artist winger' Danger Danger? their first album is a complete classic! they have a new CD right now actually, but the soundbytes didn't resonate with me immediately.. i will have to give it more time. I will prob get the Kiss CD after i listen to some soundbytes. did you like Survivor? I just got Jimi Jamison 'Crossroads Moment' in the mail today, and I gotta tell you, its 80's done well. I had heard the new Foreginer was mellow but still good. You might like Crossroads Moment if you like that. I actually liked the last Foreiger album prior, back in 94 or whatever.....cant even remember the name of it. Song on it 'white lie'. decent CD.
  25. tough call. the colorado will prob hold up better. funny, i saw an ad today for a used 2 dr jeep cherokee, mid nineties vintage. looked pristine in the pic. 2 grand! if you are talking real out the door cash, you can probably get into a NITRO cheaper than the patriot these days.......
