I would have no issue with a 1.5 cylinder, either a three or a four and something outputting similar to the 170/200 in the Terrain. Rogue Sport, which i see as a competitor to this is kind of the same deal. Nice attractive package, and paltry engine output. Rogue sport has pathetic power ratings. Honestly the optional engine here should be the base considering its a Buick, and there should be an optional mill in that 170/180hp and 200 torque plus range. Or drop the new 2.0 LSY in it. OH WAIT they save those big 2.0 engines for XT5's now. thanks EPA

Honda News: Honda Slowing Production, Cutting Shifts

Test Drove an Accord Sport 2.0 last week. Nice car but not worth a lot of hype. For a sedan, one of the better examples out there of a satisfying rig, just overrated. And by saying that, yes, it is true, sedans will continue to decrease, So accord will continue to see falling sales. It may have helped if Honda hadn't put an ugly wrapper on the car. -
Nissan News: Nissan Titan XD Loses Diesel and Single Cab
regfootball replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Nissan
A friend of mine purchased a titan diesel when they came out and negotiated a return the next day when he found out the diesel wasn’t compatible with the oft mandated biodiesel specs some states are pushing. Nissan May or may not have reengineered things to correct those faults. So the diesel got off on the wrong foot to begin with. The other problem titan is having is the truck shakes / shimmies badly due to chassis design. And it’s evidently a problem tough to fix and a lot of owners have returned their trucks because of it. -
Nissan News: 2020 Nissan Versa Pricing Released

i tried them on for size at the auto show, they are super tight, the 3 keeps getting smaller. NFW i would look at a Mazda3, the Civic, Jetta make way more sense. The only reason to get a mazda would be the nicer interior digs or if you like the styling at this point. Shit, buy a GTI if you want a performer. Or a used A3. -

I forget, it’s the 2020 corolla here. I can’t recall if you’ve driven that. My experience driving all mazdas is they are not as good as the buff books always say. They have some nicer interiors these days. -

Mazda slammed the roofline and got rid of side glass the hatch roof is a head slicer it’s so low. Useless back seat. I think at the end of the day the corolla has a more commodious interior and that trumps nicer plastic. -

I took an Accord Sport 2.0 out for a drive this weekend. I'd write more about it, but need to put laundry away instead LOL It was a good car but I don't think it should be glorified as much as the buff books say. It is a very good car. But it's still not attractive, and it's Honda plain inside (which is totally ok) and it could stand to still have less cabin noise and ride cushier. The 2.0 powertrain is great, but for a turbo it seemed to lack the noticeable turbo lunge; I could see where someone who had the v6 Accord may not feel like they would prefer the new 4 pot turbo. The 10 speed automatic is a HUGE upgrade over the base CVT, and the sport vs Eco mode really is a noticeable difference. The steering was good but really didn't feel wayyyyy better than other cars I've driven. I was impressed they have the pushbutton shifter in the sport now, and also the blind spot monitors, which I thought Honda didn't have. I'd give the car a solid A for being well balanced all around but to be honest considering how much the car and driver's and other buff books suck the accord's teats so much I expected something on another level and IMO its good, just doesn't transcend itself into another price class or anything. I'd have no issues driving one every day but it's not manna from heaven.

Nissan News: 2020 Nissan Versa Pricing Released

Yes, imagine all the possible Ford GM and Chrysler buyers that may be left if Hyundai Kia never made deft inroads on the market, and if GM figured out how to sell more cars while still being profitable. -

Nissan News: 2020 Nissan Versa Pricing Released
regfootball replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Nissan
A single mom I know has a Sentra, it was a bigger compact for her and her kids and that was what she could get a good payment on. We rip Nissan for being fleets and cheaper cars but they do move a lot of units that way they otherwise would not. It's quite arguable to me whether that actually tanks their value. I think their vehicles sell new based on what they offer vs the competition. People still love the Rogue, they like the Altimas and stuff, and Nissan although not keeping them bleeding edge they still keep the cars current (unlike say Mitsubishi). You can still look at Hondas and Toyotas and go look at a Nissan and it seems just as current and capable. All of the rental and lease returns serve the secondary '3 year old used' market pretty well. Face it, if you can't foot for a 23,000 new Altima then a 3 year old Altima for 14-15 grand is not a bad option. Nissan would not survive in the US trying to upscale their cars. Look at what happened when VW tried to do that. Now, VW has become purveyors of cheap rides and lease whores with the best of them. Look at Mazda, they are on the path to becoming irrelevant in the market because they think their prior enthusiast cred means they can charge more money for something like an unexciting new MAzda3 which got beat by the 2020 Corolla in a Motor Trend test lately. MAzda fanbois whine about 'they are taking away the manuals' and no one buys manuals anymore. Mazdas cred was by also being a good value for the money and Mazda is forgetting that. Nissan would be the same thing. Apart from the MAxima which is a dying segment, no one wants to pay a lot more for a Nissan compared to a Honda, Toyota...etc. Honda still benefits from the Acura brand as being the purveyor of tarted up Hondas which is why Honda can stay its own path and keep their prices good all around. The massive auto MSRP race to the top is going to crash soon, and cars like the Sentra, Altima etc will still need to be in the market to fill the void. -
Nissan News: 2020 Nissan Versa Pricing Released

Ah but all those used rogues for sale on the enterprise lots across this great land Actually an office I worked at just a short few years ago had hired a tech school grad and he bought a new Versa with his first job. It was almost his only new option and he was driving to work 40+ miles one way a day. And wasn’t getting paid a lot. The versa was an extremely smart move for him. New car warranty. Great mpg. And establish good credit with a loan. I do think versa is a good choice for that purpose. -

Cadillac News: 2020 Cadillac XT5 Gets a Revamp
regfootball replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
The sport version is a nice change. The new 2.0 while having less power is actually probably a smoother engine than the old v6 Imagine if it were the 2.7t available in the sport now that the XT6 is in showrooms, the xt5 can be more of an entry / mid level Cadillac. The XT6 is what they will seek big $ for. The xt5 to me is GM finally figuring out how to sell their best version of the original 2007 or was it 2008 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX -

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Silverado Diesel Gets 33mpg Highway
regfootball replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
great job Chevy. The farmers I know love the chance to use diesel in their pickups since they have diesel tanks on their farms. One issue with diesels in the US....states like mine put biodiesel requirements in play. Some diesels do not take to these biodiesel fuels well. My friend had bought a Nissan Titan diesel and returned it because of the issues with the Titan engine and biofuel. I hope GM has made this diesel compatible with these mandatory biodiesels.- 38 replies

Hyundai News:Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Revealed with Solar Roof
regfootball replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Hyundai
GM would benefit from these solar roof cars, so many of GM's overpriced strangely packaged cars sit on lots for 12-18 months if they plugged the cars solar panel's into the grid they could power the dealer's building lights and power i bet -
An honest to goodness real legit Cadillac XT6 passed me on the highway today. Well, it’s ok but doesn’t ooze luxury. And it’s sort of generic. It seems to be a bit taller than other CUV’s oh they’ll still sell a bunch of them

Very few of the 60k vettes will be made and that’s ok. Those will be 1LT including the all season tires. Which most vette buyers will want the fe3 suspension and performance tires. That will in addition to other option groups probably kick most 2lt showroom vettes into the 80k range. And that’s still ok IMO. The 1LT does not have ability to have blind spot monitor by the way. The nicer equipped camaro ss now sort of becomes the new front engine corvette replacement. If you need the engine in front and the camaro back seat is useless anyways. There is your new front engine corvette. -
Subaru News: Subaru Announces Legacy and Outback Pricing
regfootball replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Subaru
AH but blind spot monitor and cross path detection are not standard until limited model, and are only package options on some of the lower trims. But i will bet most cars that ship to the dealers and sit on the lot will actually that feature on them. Unlike a lot of GM products. -
