Don't assume the Verano will have the nice plastic and nice interior. Cart before the horse. I won't believe this as an upscale car until I see it. GM still doesn't consistently deliver knockout interiors. Until you see a truly excellent interior in execution, it's just a tarted up Cruze. The horrific looking plood in the photos and US assembly and sourcing lead me to believe you won't get anything bordering Audi quality inside this thing.

Wow, VW certainly was able to make sufficient legroom for adults in the back of its like sized car, the jetta. Maybe GM is simply incompetent.
-
ok shorty, obviously you see no benefit in 6 footers sitting front and rear in a car that purports to transport humans. (IN COMFORT) Verano is a slug with that much more power and that much more price. the extra 5-7 grand and extra 30-40hp should get you down to 7 seconds, min. the only sunny side to this is eAssist will be added probably and push those mpg numbers up sufficiently. A lot of times mfr estimates are very conservative though. All you probably need to do to determine where it really will come in on the 0-60 is simple math. Divide the curb weight of the murano into the curb weight of the Malibu and then take that number and multiply it by the best Malibu's 0-60 time with the 6 speed. You probably would be dead on.

that could be why the A3 doesn't sell. NFW this car gets cross shopped vs the A3, BTW. this is GM's new Grand Am is all it is. without the rear seat space the grand am had. apologies. some cars it works, others not. It just depends. Sometimes it really opens up visibility. Sometimes it just creates a dead triangle of crap. the triangle looks more awesome on the 3 door, which buick decided no one wants.
-
apologies. i'd fire you if you were my project planner at an automaker and you told me that. elantra 2700 pounds or 600 pounds lighter. conversely, the sonata weighs the same has bigger engine more room better mpg. weight is enemy of mpg everyone else is crashing to reduce weight Buick brings out a porker. 8.0 is a slug for a compact car with 177hp. even 1/2 second would be an improvement to ok. turbo, duh buick is above chevy so it would be logical to have it in the buick first. as for the rear leg room why bother with a rear seat if adults can't wedge themselves into it. 35 mpg cafe is coming and this buick can't match the malibu OR the EQUINOX. 'epic fail'.
-
exactly. can someone email Buick and tell them the PLOOD looks ridiculous and is hideous and will be the subject of ridicule? 3300 pounds? no rear leg room? 31 mph? only an 8.0 second 0-60? why isn't the turbo here now? Where are the 3 door and 5 door and wagon?

imagine if our income base in the country was looking up, we might be able to make a tiny dent in that deficit. But the elite would rather see us all working for min wage. the odd dichotomy of not wanting to pay wages and then expecting the government to pick up and pay for people's subsistence so they can continue to absolve themselves from paying for labor to strip their profit centers.

we may have slipped, is that because the brakes didn't work and the car took off by itself? toyota needs to prune its lineup. at least the truck side. one thing to note on the Lexus sales, Cadillac afficianados take note, the ES is the best selling Lexus sedan, the RX by far the best selling Lexus. IIRC the Audi Q5 is one of the biggest selling Audis. Just remember that an S Class killer may build some buff book cred but the SRX/Vue and XTS are pretty much dead aimed and parallel with the two best selling Lexus. If this doesn't tell you why Cadillac has gone the route they have on the Vue and the DTS Next Generation, then you aren't a student of numbers, market share, and income.

is it that new dexlube?

wasn't the Turd / Tundra supposed to outsell chevy and ford? memo to toyota, scion is sucking. take out the Lexus Camry and how is Lexus doing? Toyota like Honda is afloat because of its bread and butter models. Toyota has a lot of superflous models now. Was this the best month evah?

December 2010 Sales: Hyundai Motor America
regfootball replied to Cory Wolfe's topic in 2010 Sales Archive
80,000 santa fe's is kind of disgusting. but it does say something that people will buy 80k of a mediocre crossover, this is why we don't have mainstream RWD sedans. -
December 2010 Sales: General Motors

its way cheaper. the v6 is outrageously priced. there is truth to that but they should do basic engineering they forgot to do and get the engine control and transmission problems fixed. -

Passat sales are disgusting, how do they figure that they will sell any of the new one that comes out next year? -
rich fat old white guy who is an exec, board member etc of nearly all companies pretty much dictates that all our sht is made in china so he can continue to make 6 figures or 7 figures while his employees in the US make min. and the nice folks in china can make 25 cents an hour or whatever.

To the exclusion of worthwhile products is exactly the case. It would be nice if we had more choices. All some of us want is a choice!

December 2010 Sales: General Motors

fleet, but its also an inexpensive vehicle, lots of people need cheap wheels these days. I think Chevy would be wise to make an HHR2 (not an ugly Orlando). I see the Cadillac Vue is Caddy's biggest selling model. SO much for sigma! So much for Zeta S class fighters and 3 series fighters! Enclave carries Buick too. Terrain. Equinox and Traverse selling big at chevy. Crossovers grab a large part of the mainstream market. Cruze selling well to me, good job. I think its starting to gain traction. When i went to the dealer to look at the Cruze the other day, the salesdude had said their dealer alone sold 46 Equinox last month, they can't keep em in stock (especially the 4 cylinders). We all are glamorized by the higher end sport sedans and stuff but for GM, crossovers and mainstream / semi inexpensive sedans are really what drives sales and volume and keeps the door open. trucks too. -
it is a little hard to swallow the elantra's curvaliciousness. It's almost too much. The Cruze design inside and out has more legs to it. the cruze is more well finished and to a higher level of detail. but the elantra is decent nonetheless.

just tell them you never asked for it and you aren't paying for it and that there is a chevy dealer every 5 miles down the road that will gladly take your business as you request. scotchguard is worth some, but at 599 for what amounts to a 5 dollar can of spray, you might as well spend the extra for leather instead of a spray can to protect the burlap on the seats. i've always been asked if i want it, but none of the last 3 4 times i bought did they press the issue. I just take a moment to fake like i am considering it, contort my face a little to make it seem agonizing just to gratify their effort. If they every did force the issue I would just say 'sorry i changed my mind we do not want the car anymore'. it would be smarter to apply that 600 bucks to an extended warranty or even buy a unit with the RS package, something tangible. Regarding warranties, never bite on the first quote. Ex warranty prices are very much haggle-able. SOmetimes they will buckle and go down to half of their first quote. An extended warranty for 20 bucks a month vs. 40 or more is not all that bad of something to consider depending on if it extends a lot of protection on your car and is transferrable. I don't see a lot of dealers that force it on every car anymore though, the protection packs and stuff.
-
The Cruze is nice but it has just enough annoyances about it to make you want to look at other competitors and not want to buy it unless they fix all the problems, is my opinion. I think just fixing the tranmission thing would be a great start. But on the whole you have to be honest and say despite a couple things it is a really nice car, especially for GM. It's about time.
-
I find it curious that Chevy effed up the powertrain programming on both the LS and the LT/Z. Did they really have no time or take no effort or were they simply given the mandate to squeeze an extra 1 mpg outta the rabbit? I can't wait to drive the Eco because i think it will actually be pretty zippy with that growly turbo. 29 mpg with an LS is not bad real world considering how heavy the car is. But I bet its slower than molasses.

All current and former Cobalt owners, please read

i think that touchy steering you refer to, it does initially feel touchy but i think you'd also get used to it really quick and i think that's an asset for it, actually. might be an issue in slippery conditions that way, but i don't think its to the point of too fast. -
I took another cruze out today, an LTZ, i just added my notes to my cruze test under reviews, but it must have been an older one because it still had the transmission BS going on. I sure hope they fix it soon. I believe they will figure it out..... eventually......(like 2013)
