  1. The type of car it is honestly is a moot point. People beat the snot out of Impalas, Tauruses, and Fusions too. These bread 'n butter sedans sometimes get treated even worse than their niche market counterparts. I've seen a few 2008 Malibus that have wound up in just about as bad of shape as say a '98 Trans Am before (litter piled up in the backseat, body panels misaligned because of neglect, more rash on the rims than a one year old's ass, etc., etc.). This goes back to what I said earlier: A LOT of people treat cars like disposable commodities, no matter how much they paid for them. My point here exactly. Dsuupr's Celebrity is something you don't run into everyday. He managed to get very lucky with that car. I'll just leave it at this: My Challenger is new. I bought it a couple grand cheaper than I would a used one with a lot more mileage. I'm the first owner and I know how to maintain it and get my money's worth out of it well after it's paid off. I don't have to inherit a previous owner's headaches and if I do run into a problem, there is a full factory, bumper-to-bumper warranty on my car for the next 3/36 to solve the problem and another one that runs 5/100 to correct any powertrain issues. Reg's last post tells the rest of the story. our Wazuki store has a promo this month. free upgrade to a 7/100 BTB warranty, no cost. I'm trying to figure out if i should get that Sportback I want. i know the brand is not hip or popular but i've also seen the flip side right now. People paying huge bucks for stuff like hondas and all with warranties long since expires and 75k miles on the odo..............
  2. CTS has the interior space of hardly much more than a 3 series. 3800 pounds and no interior room = fat pig Seriously? Cadillac CTS 3.6 - 3,847 lbs Audi A6 3.0 - 4,123 lbs BMW 535i - 4,090 lbs Infiniti M37 - 3,898 lbs Jaguar XF - 3,924 lbs Lexus GS350 - 3,795 lbs MB E350 - 3,828 lbs Essentially it is the third lightest in its group and below the average weight of 3,930 lbs. With heavily modified or new platform boasting high strength steel, GM can keep the weight in check despite of adding more girth to it.
  3. Buick should become the defacto manual division of GM. Except of course cars like the Cruze and Camaro. The only Cadillac in the future I see worthy of a stick is the ATS. The CTS will turn into an even fatter pig. It would be nice to see GM have one brand with GOOD manuals that stick drivers seek out. Verano, Regal, and 3 door can be just enough to get a new image across for Buick as the stick drivers GM brand.
  4. Where I test drove the regal stick last week, they already had sold 2 of their 4 manuals. Within the first couple weeks. The regal is soooooooo much better than the sonata. Sonatas are good, regal is on the next tier of quality.
  5. One of the courses I took during my 'hiatus' was a weeklong Project Management 'Mini Masters' course which provided the credits applicable to PMP test, if I chose to use it for. So much could be improved with proper discipline. As an Architect, there was a large amount of 'baked in' informal project management sense of discipline. But I knew it was not formal or structured like it is in the I.T. industry. PMP was something I thought I could apply to maybe getting into construction managment. I also have heard of CAPM. I do think at some point I may resume my path towards a project management certificate, but really was undecided on which trade to go with it. Basically it would require more school, which i could not fit in or pay for right now. I was very impressed with some of the planning methods and tools I learned. For being an Architect, it would not benefit me....so many architects resist the value of certifying a vital skill (project management) because then it would choke off their overwhelming desire and need to squelch common sense for impulsive inherent bad decision making and management. What I did learn in the weeklong course was very valuable and really just focused on the core skills at the heart of being a great PM. I also left thinking that perhaps a career in lean mfr. may be something for me, with 6 sigma or whatever, etc. yadda yadda...... But right now I sell cars, go figure.....
  6. it will be sad if Saab goes but honestly it's becoming even more apparent how much of a gift GM gave to Saab by delaying their death. I totally love Saab cars but perhaps their best stuff was too late arriving.
  7. Dodgefan makes a great point with the Tribeca. i look at smk's list and that's like 1/2 my fleet from the last decade. If i include the Astra i verbally agreed next to last day Sept 2008 only to go to work the next day and catch wind of pending layoffs. Flops should somewhat be judged by happy owners. Myself and at least 3 others i know personally who owned azteks loved em aside from the looks. The flop was maybe GM's marketing dept over estimating sales.....
  8. How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?
  9. checking in to see if this question has indeed been solved. by now.......
  10. love the humpback seville!
  11. the reason i compare.....we had an A4 on the lot, a 2.0t and Audis are generally regarded as having good shifters, and like the Opel its a German car. The Audi required some effort but otherwise was smooth, well defined. So comparing the Regal which aspires to be a luxury car, to another German luxury car was a fair comparison. I don't think its out of line to suggest that if Buick is going to compete in the lux and near lux class that its drive controls should be on par with its competition. Unless you want GM to be its typical lowest common denominator self.
  12. How so? It would disproportionately affect lower income drivers. Imagine the pizza-delivery guy, or the girl that delivers the morning paper, or the guy with a uniform rental business... well, pizza places would go out of business. newspapers would continue to go out of business, and people would go naked to work.
  13. a v8 sedan with 300hp implies a car of sporting character. until you put it in drive and try to do anything sporting with it, i guess.
  14. re-read the bylaws. by daily driving a CRV, you relinquish owner rights to gm fan sites....lol
  15. what do they call it? I thought Buick did it best to exorcise all the old redneck GM lingo out of its marketing phrases.......
  16. The Impala SS had NO character. that's for sure. A base Passat was far more fun to drive................ At least the v6 impala won't have the presumptuous SS badge on it. And at least it will have a real transmission in it.
  17. So, lemme ask... the 4-speed held back the 5.3L V8. What about the FWD Northstars? I assume the same deal. northstars are not the quickest cars by 2011 standards......a lot of 4's and 6's have been able to outrun the northstar to 60 with similar size and or weights
  18. Uh... the GXP G8 only comes with a 6-speed Manual, the GT G8 comes with a 6-spd automatic. They never made a V8 G8 with a 4-speed. Yup. There was no 4-speed on ANY trim of the G8. I was thinking he might have meant G6 GXP... but I don't think that ever had a 4-speed, either. Oh well, so much for credibility... ;-) Don't buy a Pontiac from his lot... its got a busted transmission. Probably meant GP GXP...the Grand Prix was offered w/ the same V8/ 4spd setup as the Impala SS.. ding! YUP, TYPO ON MY PART. I was so overtaken with pontiac excitement i couldn't keep all those top selling models straight in my head. LOL
  19. someone showed up at our shop today with a new Regal. I spoke briefly with them, they like the car, we ended up talking about the adjustable suspension, which they had. The person said the adjustable suspension makes a huge difference in the car. I had mentioned i thought the std. suspension was a little soft and the person said the car without the adjustable driver system they couldn't deal with it....apparently it makes a huge difference.
  20. Yeah but the V8 gave the car some actual character. well, until the tranny blew up. we have a GXP G8 on our lot right now....took it for a spin recently.....that 4 speed holds it back. the GXP is nice to drive (nothing special) but the Impala SS v8 did not have a driving experience to go with the engine. The Impala SS was just a motor to an otherwise boring and sedate car.
  21. I'd have liked to see the Park Avenue, but really they can use the LaCrosse as a flagship. what is needed with the LaX is a new interior with the same quality as the Regal, and some special editions and marketing.
  22. i thought Hondas ran forever. lol
  23. Re: the v8.....it had a crappy 4 speed. The new 6 speed will do a far better job taking advantage of big ponies under the hood.
