not sure why either, it was a tough tough month......did i mention, tough......i'll say it again, tough.
they've spent some dough on some ads recently too. the front cover in a lot of buff books. the long term reviews are finishing up and are all pretty favorable.
the tween sizing does hurt in some instances, lost a few due to Legacy being larger despite not liking the Legacy as much. real world gas mileage is good (one has gotten 36 on trip) but the epa numbers are not eye popping / misleading.
getting killed w/ cheap leasing on other makes, and from below on the compacts just in terms of buzz and interest and traffic. cruze in particular i know been cut out from underneath, cruze has a huge market buzz going. Residuals are the white elephant in the room. Gotta get some way to get these things out on cheap cheap cheaper than toyota leases.
once lost one to a mazda6 due to less size and no cruise on the base manual.
had plenty of folks who drive it, love it, but honda and toyota owners in particular who can't divorce themselves from another in a decades long line of them. Lost one on a Malibu lease recently. Person was in 6 times, loved it, but spouse was dead set against anything not chevy, ford, honda, or toyota. That one was rather frustrating because their original plan was to not lease, and to get an all wheel drive.
Funny though, more than a few who buy them are those you would not expect and its because they tried it and were smitten in some way by it. You'd be surprised how many mull - it types show interest.......
TIme for them to fix some option packaging / pricing, add some power, jazz up the dash a bit, and add some gadgets and tech. Clean up the CVT and manual shifters a bit and ........
Hate to say it, but I actually think getting more in the rental fleets would help a lot......get some butts in the seats......
