  1. GM down over 2%. When you cut ‘low profit cars’ and sedans like the Cruze and such you may be losing profits but weakening your market share can also be detrimental long term. actually too. Ram up 18% that alone contributed a lot to GM’s decline.
  2. i thought MKZ also. so then my next question to myself would be why not just find a good CPO low mileage MKZ..... (with the 400hp turbo v6)
  3. so has Chevy Blazer!!!!! now admittedly, what a Blazer is, is slightly different now.
  4. FIRST EVER K5!!!!!! i thought Kia threw a shitload of market cred out the window when they ditched the Spectra name and went to Forte. Kia hit jackpot on the Sorento and Sportage and Soul names, and also THEY HIT JACKPOT on the Optima name. Cadenza (CREDENZA) not such a good name. WHY WOULD THEY BE SO STUPID TO DITCH ALL THAT? IS KIA GM?
  5. the 35k i refer to is discounted price. usually those msrps will be 40ish. there are Blazer Premiers out there, stickering for 55 grand. That is stupid ludicrous expensive. In spring 2020 when some of those 19 premiers are still on lots (after 18 months), maybe then they will go out the door for 42,000.......
  6. you will rarely find an AWD blazer for much less than 34-35 right now, and that's basically cloth seats. Enjoy that FWD blazer with 4 banger if you like. The Santa Fe has the size of the Blazer and admittedly with its 4 cylinders, but the truth is they can add lots of options to the Santa Fe that it will have at the 35k price that Chevy won't have. So from a utlity standpoint the Santa Fe is the size of the Blazer and offers lots more options and amenities for a lower price. The only advantage the Blazer would have is powertrain but in 2020 Chevy will load up the sales floor with much more of the new 2.0 turbo models at that price range than the v6's which they want to eventually only offer to those shopping in the 50k range. WHICH IS MY POINT EXACTLY. those 19 blazers have likely sat on that lot since early this calendar year. Hard to run a business with stagnant inventory.
  7. Mary and GM clearly want the poor people to stick to buying the Equinox and Terrain. Then, the 'privileged' who really want a true mid size vehicle, the figured they could charge 55k for a loaded Blazer instead of the 40k Impala it functionally replaces. In addition to that, make it in Mexico, too. Honestly the Blazer would sell big in volume at lower prices, but clearly volume is not the goal. GM is fine with letting inventory sitting on their lots for a year or two before they get an actual clue that they might need to adjust prices to market. I just think its sad that GM opens the door for competitors like Hyundai to gain volume in the market, and in this case even more and more.
  8. you wouldn't believe the Murano lease deals around here recently. A Murano S almost the cheapest lease lately. If you're buying of course its a different story. Nice review writeup on the Sentra, Robert. I think the 2020 or is it 2021 Sentra is a nice improvement. THis current version is not bad but i would definitely wait for the new version of Sentra over both the Versa and current Sentra. It would be one of those deals where depending on lease incentives a current month the new Sentra and now current Altima could be darn close to each other OTD payment wise. The Altima with AWD i think opens up a new market for Nissan to keep sales of sedans going in its showrooms..... The Kicks is a nice ride also, but I want to see what the new Trailblazer looks like before anything in that segment now. I still would spend money in a Nissan before a Hyundai or Toyota I think myself.
  9. Liking the ride. The 2.0 is quite nasal-ly but it seems to be getting broke in / smoother. MPG is down now with winter and shit winter blend although I still most often go to costco and put top tier premium in it. Defintely justifies the costco membership to save 20-40 cents a gallon on the premium. I'll probably take it for an oil change in the next couple weeks. Wife and I stole a lunch hour recently and went to the local BBQ joint. Parked right next to a red hot 2019 Blazer. Wife (without prompting) commented on how 'cute' the Blazer was. She generally doesn't comment on cars, so she must have really saw something she liked. I then informed her that if we hadnt gotten the TourX, the Blazer in exactly that color was the runner up but that the numbers worked out better on the TourX for more stuff, too. Recently there has been statements like, we don't need a van next time, and 'the van's too big'. And so methinks that depending on what happens with less than year left on the Pacfica lease now, she may just fine with the red hot Blazer I never got instead of the TourX. In the meantime, whenever i drive something like our van and get back in the TourX, i just think that despite my wanting to capitulate to the modern way of an SUV for better ingress and egress, I just enjoy driving the TourX so much. It's not a luxury vehicle, and it's not perfect... but the interior design and the driving position and the console lend a sporty intimate (but not too much so) feel that so many vehicles....particularly CUV's and SUV's....do not have. Even sedans. Someday, and maybe sooner rather than later I will hop on the CUV bandwagon. But for now, the nice handling and ride, good reflexes of a sedan like vehicle with AWD for the winter and nice pulses of turbo torque make for a nice ride. It's been enjoyable so far and it's cool how it's unique in the sea of the mind numbing automotive landscape.
  10. there is getting to be quite of few of these with dealer plates on them (just sold) driving around here now, I am sure Hyundai has opened the deals and credit tap on these things. And then Chevy has the 50,000 dollar Blazer, and I don't see very many of them.
  11. there was a camry driver in front/side of me the other day, about that age, weaving all over, driving like badly drunk but likely just they couldn't stay in the lane themselves anymore. I suppose those lane keep assists will help those people. I thought i was going to get hit a few times.
  12. Good design finally for a basic Toyota. Interior looks good. Like the amount of features. Although 28k for very little power Meh. For this car I’d trade off 30 extra hp and torque to lose 2 mpg
  13. this is all just PR bullshit to get them through the news cycle so some dipshit in GM marketing can tell their boss they had 10 articles circulated to press this week to keep GM in the hype train. Because green electric vehicles keeps cadillac cool. since they actually don't have one, just say you're going to have one, repeatedly, and make sure it pops up on news feeds. Then people think Cadillac has cars like tesla, even though they don't. MW, continue on with the XT4 XT5 XT6 ride that pony. Someday they will have EV's sure, no problem. GM had EV1 and that was supposed to bust the EV doors open. Car mfr marketing articles and campaigns and prommises are starting to seem like politicians and their promises. Stick a finger in the wind and figure out what you need to say this week. Doesn't mean you have to follow through on anything!!!!! You just want airtime in my eyeballs, just like all those plus size instagram models!
  14. the 2.7t would be fucking INSSAAAAAANNNNNNNNEEEEE in this thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. i suppose if you want some safety equipment like blind spot detection you probably have to upgrade to over 30g, or like heated seats, how far do you have to upcharge to get that.
  16. Right. No one buying a Tesla wants that 35k version. Sort of like GM’s “1SV” versions...
  17. we don't need to settle for the choices being offered if the choices being offered are market reasons. Some dipshit at Buick an in interview said they were dropping the higher power 1.4 in the Encore because it wasn't selling (no demand). No, it wasn't selling because you didn't package it correctly. you made someone upgrade packages to get it, and most likely that drove a huge price increase. And, you simply didn't make it available. So, had they made it a standalone and offered it on all trims or even simply made the higher power motor the base motor, they acted like typical GM. but maybe they saved a tenth of mpg on CAFE by doing it.......why? not because of demand but because of regulations. I'll use that Malibu as an example again. the price of the larger motor (which is just simply a larger version of the same thing....4 pistons, same number of valves, etc. just physically a bit bigger. package it up so you cannot find one without buying a fully loaded version thats 10k more or so than the base. Purposely youre doing that as GM to discourage anyone from buying the larger motor because what you really want to do is cave to the feds and keep your CAFE low. You figure 10 grand or so is enough of a penalty to the consumer for wanting power and the smart consumer knows there is a tradeoff between power and FE, you should let them make the choice. I'm assuming the powertrain cost different is not much so offer the choice to the market and let them decide apples to apples.
  18. how many of those Tesla 3's are actually priced at 35.... methinks .01 percent.......
  19. Now VW is getting into the Trailblazer Encore class..... https://www.caranddriver.com/volkswagen/tarek
  20. Been seeing more of the new style Altimas lately. They all seem to have 'AWD" badges on them. Nissan's not gonna get rich on Altima sales though. TIme for a new Rogue though, those sell like hot cakes around here. Had Nissan turned their lineups over more quickly I don't think they would have these issues. Infiniti's behind the curve. The new crossover of theirs is a bit of a styling dud and thats the one that has to hit the meat of the luxury crossover market for them. I don't think its been doing that. I think we underestimate still how much over the decades the car buying public has been drinking the 'Honda and Toyota are best, most reliable' kool aid. Why people buy Toyotas, I truly do not understand, but they can poop on a plate and make straight cash homey doing so, no questions asked. I do admit to liking the current RAV4, but everything else Toyota is 'why would you buy that over ______?" to me...... Until Nissan gains back that swagger like when they introduced the game changing Altima style in the early 00's (or whenever that was).. and breathes a hint of performance image back into their products, it may be tough. Right now they have to sell themselves on easy credit and cheap payments like many other manufacturers do but it becomes a problem when you have to have easier credit and cheaper payments then Hyundai to move metal.
  21. Nice family picture!
  22. seeing the article on the internet about finding an old unconfiscated EV1 and relearning what GM did to crush all the EV1's, and seeing how Tesla has cornered a good chunk of the EV market now for itself without GM getting serious about creating a real competition to the Tesla products (when they could easily have wiped Teslas ass off the floor had they invested some real product dollars into EV...) and seeing how politically EV's seem to be well received as saviors when really there are plenty of ill side effects for the idea of EV mass propulsion (not to mention no useful or convenient infrastructure) and seeing how GM's electric cars are always small or niche models (Volt, Bolt, ELR, pickup hybrids, CT6) this talk of Cadillac going deep into EV's is all just a smokescreen. A smokescreen to cover for why they didn't invest in new competitive products in the Johan era. Truth is Cadillac is caught with their pants down, and like the rest of GM wants to appear green, on top of technology, and want to somehow be in the EV mix, at least in terms of social media buzz. so back to the EV1....that was the 90's already. A quarter decade and GM has still not nor has plans to produce any significant game changing EV that will be adopted by the car buying public en masse, that is affordable for many, and in 50 years will serve as a bellweather in the sales of vehicles in this world and nation. A point that your kids, when they are grandkids can say, "My parents had the Model T electric" (you get what i mean when i say that). Really all the manufacturers, none have taken EV out of social media curiosity or low volume high price lux car sales and smashed the mainstream barrier to truly change and create a demand for what we drive in America and the world to push for real everyday EV's. Sure, we have Prius and Leaf etc. But the Mustang Mach E might be the only vehicle that really represents something that might impact the future. I mean, global oil still has pull, right? That's partly why we still drive oil mostly. And battery tech is still for the few for the cost it is. Mining is an issue. Power grid investment is an issue. Electric power tends to be controlled by government and utility cartels, electric power buying and selling really will never be much of a capitalistic ritual of a free market. That is a huge problem. I filled my car with 300 miles of range in about 120 seconds the other day at Costco. I still don't see matching that feat any time in the next 20 years where you literally can pick any station everywhere and do that. I don't see any of GM including Cadillac coming to market with a game changing EV or line of EV's within 5-10 years yet. It's all bullshit. GM could wipe the industry's ass if they wanted to but they won't. Cadillac's dealer base needs revenue and customers to keep their doors open. They won't risk it by changing their whole product line to EV nor should they. So please, apart from one or two models that may hit and sell a few each year to be cute, please do not believe the crap about GM or Cadillac being a huge EV company. So in the meantime, build those Blackwing v8's and turbo 6's and stuff them in as many Cadillacs as you can. That is where you can still make bank. Along with real passenger and cargo space. ANd flip your middle finger to the feds in the process and their regulations.
  23. Like I said, Cadillac gave up on the luxury of size.
