Nissan News: Nissan Ariya EV Possibly Marks A Comeback
regfootball replied to William Maley's topic in Nissan
No one is wanting an EV; until the charging solutions are built and in place first. Including the cold weather performance. Until then, people want gas. Especially if electric is so much more. Even my developer boss, last i heard he plans on ditching his Teslas. Make the EV same price and size benefits as current gas cars. And get all the houses wired for free and many many charge points on the existing highway networks / convenience store locations, and then MAYBE in warm weather states we'd see a mass rush to EV's. Oh, and yes said electric cars will have to be sold by our traditional dealer networks that already have millions in assets invested in current places of sale and real estate. oh, and 300 mile easy range too. Side note, i saw a Model Y the other day. That's a nice rig, as is the S, and the 3.- 32 replies

LOL if we are making light of the Ct5 here, it should be stated that even though the rear quarter treatment is very questionable on the Ct5, that really the whole design of the Ct5 is weak and misses the mark of what Cadillac is. still an ok car, with a weird rear window....but the bigger picture is that the overall design, as a cadillac branded vehicle, is questionable. its time for new leadership at GM and some of these other car companies. we need less politico corporate panderers and get some product / car types back making the calls. GM has a serious deficiency in terms of passionately desirable vehicles.- 32 replies

that is a great article. that dual clutch destroyed all market equity that the Focus brand had, it threw it all in the toilet. the 2011 Focus was hailed as a great new small car except the trans issues ruined any reason for those that knew to consider one, even with the rock bottom prices of the vehicle used. all for a trans that might gain the almighty 1 or 2 mpg on the CAFE. that is why CAFE is so sick. CAFE HAS TOO MUCH INFLUENCE in the design and engineering. Really though, Ford should have gotten a traditional automatic ready for the 2013 or 14 or 15 model year to replace the dual clutch.

I like the design, its sort of a 2020 interpretation of a late 80's car. It's got the whole crossover hatch look to it but brings back some of the more crisp lines instead of the mega sculpted bulges. Lots of glass. Interior is a bit interesting but not driver focused. not bad for what it is.- 32 replies

So after all the last few years of my harassing, and shopping, test driving, sending pictures ....my uncles let my mom know of a 2011 DTS for sale in the small town and where my parents had bought other Cadillacs before. Got a build sheet from GM and a Carfax to check it out. I could tell mom had found what she wanted . And less than 80,000 miles. I told her if she didn’t buy it today that I would. Maybe Cadillac needs to refocus on the large comfortable cars again. She got a good one, the interior is almost new condition. She wishes the dash top wasn’t so dark, I told her with used cars you get what you get. ?

Toyota News: Toyota Yaris Bids Farewell To U.S. After 2020

no one is crying over this. -
Mom may be picking up a 2011 Cadillac DTS this weekend. Fingers crossed. The 2002 DTS was going to have to be replaced SOMETIME console and tailgate wars! that self folding shifter is absurdly awesome. the girth of that center stack is simply majestic.

So you like my Buick at least, I can dig that. current Malibu much more stylish than a disaster of a Camry! -

Good friend turned in his 2014 Malibu company car and got a 2020. He's impressed! Simple white LT with black cloth. Checked it out the other day and remembered many reasons why i like this current version of the Malibu so much, especially considering I had a 2016 myself. Already he's raving about the fuel economy, size, interior design, comfort. Too bad Chevy can't promote this more. I think an AWD Malibu and a more accessible price on a 2.0 turbo would help. One of Chevy's best shapes in the last 20-30 years.... -

NICE DISCOUNTS ON THOSE......gets the prices almost within line. about 40 for a premium 2 is not bad, still feels a bit steep but i guess other stuff is 50 and 60k.... -

when we see the specs on this vehicle we will know if its an XT4 clone or not. the XT4 is a lot smaller inside than the envision. Now, if the new Envision is on the XT4 platform, but has been legnthened and widened, such that it comes out with the same interior space as the current Envision, that is my hope. I really like the current Envision (no contest vs Equinox and Terrain) apart from where it is built but that is with a deal breaker / caveat.....the dashboard and all its plood is hideous. Also, the pricing on the Envision can be quite comical. The pricing and trim packages as GM usually does them is what ultimately dooms the product on the sales chart. Priced way too high, the cars sit on lots for a year until GM throws rebates at them. There are still many XT4's from 2019 needing a home, with ridiculous MSRP's that now they have to look at DEEP discounting before anyone will pop. -

GM's failure in Europe AND USA is why they had to rely on China. I'm not terribly bent out of shape about GM's failure in Europe anymore. If Fiat and PSA are still building cars, that says something...low standards....apart from the homerism to BMW, Merc, VWAG. GM's pending failure here in the US is partially a product of not producing in the US as much as many other issues.....downsizing interiors and engines, styling miscues, product class miscues, marking huge miscues, caring more about autonomous vehicles and CAFE.....and electric..... GM can probably offset some losses in China if they lose share there, by growing in other parts of the world not called Europe, and I think they are chipping away at those new opportunities. But then they give up AU...with Holden..... Really at the end of the day, Buick could be a huge contributor to increasing their US sales based on crossovers, and by building them here. GM's overall size and class strategy still confuses...is this smaller than the current Envision? Is it more like the XT4? The Enspire I HOPE is still coming, and that it is Blazer sized. A mid-large 2 row ala Edge / Blazer with premium status WOULD help Buick a lot, esp if built in the US. BUT it also has to look good and GM can't be trusted to put out well styled vehicles but maybe half the time these days..... -

it's unoffensive / attractive but yet you could almost throw any badge on it. No real 'Buick' cues whatsoever. But at least you get FOUR cylinders!!!! -

GM makes so few of their vehicles in US anymore. Encore = Korea, this in China...my TourX was Germany. I get the 'world market' part of this, but maybe GM will learn that sending most of its production (by model count) outside our borders is a shitty deal. is this sort of "Buick Mazda CX-5" looking? I hope it is not SMALLER than the current Envision....... -

2020 Cadillac CT5 Sport showroom impression and pictures
regfootball replied to regfootball's topic in Reader Reviews
Yeah I am 6'1 and a waist and belly that is too large and even if i were thin again the ingress and egress and driving position in the car is something you'd want in a sports car, not a luxury brand sedan. Its not befitting daily luxury transport. People rip front drive platforms but remember back to the larger cab forward front drivers....... more comfort and room. That said, the Ct6 is woefully comfy, but yeah, Cadillac decides to kill that car. -

this Cadillac platform has always been ergonomically challenged. Low firewall, cramped with a big driveshaft tunnel.....badly shaped floor. Hip point way too low. You really have to twist, contort, and wrench yourself into the seat and God forbid if you are a chunky midwesterner over the crest of 50 and not some lithe millenial with lots of flexibility from yoga. The platform is shared also with Camaro so they did not design the cars on this platform for older large person comfort which IMHO is partly why Cadillac sales flounder. In contrast, when i went to the auto show back in early March before it got shut down they had the CT4 and CT5 there and there was a lot of interested folks checking them out....particularly youngsters. Maybe Cadillac IS on to something here. Those youngsters actually like the cramped interior and low rider seat.
