  4. I notice diesel crept back up in these parts. Gas was down to 3.15 in some spots, while diesel was around 3.88-3.91. What are you seeing?
  5. I like the current TL and TSX except for grille styling. Only though in the context of the nameless model names and knowing that the actual Honda products keep getting watered down and diluted. Accords are now and probably always have been tinny four bangers that are loud and have cheap plastic and now CVT's. I at least like being inside the TL and TSX. Acura has no styling identity though. MDX and RDX are more tarted up crossovers so if they float the brand like so many other lux brands that just really tells you all you need to know. It's about the crossovers. And the RDX was a huge turd until they just fixed it. The MDX has always been a star and the current Pilot is such a piece of garbage in terms of style so that alone guarantees sales for the MDX. The ILX is the problem now, it's half baked and really comes in out of character vs. the TL and TSX. I really am fine with the sizes of those two as is but ILX upsets that apple cart. How are TL and TSX supposed to be core products anymore when ILX is out to steal sales and crossovers are what they actually want to sell? RLX is the car no one cares about. This further effs it up. Why can't we go back to the good old days, Integra, Legend, Vigor....etc.

  7. Exactly. But even so, the Regal is so much nicer, they need to promote and price it SOME........ Verano is GM's 2013 version of the Grand Am and Alero. Not a chevy, but still small, economical, and just enough nice. So it has the formula to sell. The Regal and Malibu both do not sell, in Regals case its due to marketing and pricing, but at some point you have to also wonder if GM just really didn't screw up on some basics with these two Epsilon versions. I really love the Regal myself but to be honest I would like it to be a larger a bit for the price they want. GM may have to go a different direction on the next all new Regal, but what exactly? I think Verano needs to be flushed out with the 3d and 5d and maybe even the wagon and diesels. What space does that create for Regal? ADAM needs to be here too!

  10. 011 9-5 is really just a stretched Regal / LaCrosse combo platter. The whole damn car could practically be a Buick really with so much the same.
  11. some folks need back up cameras on themselves to use the rest room........ i think these cameras should be encouraged maybe not mandated. they really aren't totally useful. at least you can see if you are going to back up over your kid on his bike.
  12. Tested 2014 Chevy Cruze diesel automatic. (Despite the dude at the one chevy place last week saying they would not hit lots until fall) HIGHS: Walks like a Cruze, talks like a Cruze, and this one is loaded. Feels great with the tan leather on black. Snappy acceleration. Possibly the fastest Cruze they sell. Peppy off the line and good kickdown for roll on acceleration too. Mostly behaves like a gas car. Fun to see instant mpg readings in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Is heavier than a standard Cruze but does not feel overly ponderous or lazy or anything in that regard. Feels hefty on the road. Ride and steering very middle of market and will feel quality to most, which is geared to ride softness and light, pleasant steering. Quiet ride except (see below). No indication to the masses that this car is a diesel in ride and drive or noises. Almost completely devoid of diesel personality. The only diesel rattle you hear is outside the car and even then it just isn't a fully committed rattler. Would be a fantastic eat em miles road commuter car. Would even be a good daily in town commuter too. All of Chevy's latest content updates for the Cruze, this is possibly the most luxurious Cruze available With leather included you can almost justify the price. A very successful effort at mainstreaming the diesel for a non diesel market. LOWS Walks like a Cruze, talks like a Cruze. Bears some of the cheapness that the Cruze and Chevy's in general have (cruise control and other steering wheel controls, etc.) No indication to the masses that this car is a diesel in ride and drive or noises. Almost completely devoid of diesel personality. Someone who wants a diesel will miss the diesel sound and personality. Transmission has some weirdness, perhaps all the powertrain fine tuning is not done. Early upshifts, some hunting, delays in action, clearly they tuned this to max out fuel economy testing numbers. Clearly the need to have a different suspension to deal with the extra weight needs a bit of tuning yet. Does not feel sporting, is tuned a bit soft / mushy. Flops a tish in corners. Steering is tuned more for set and forget than involvement. (hint, a diesel with a sport package would be a nice combo). Using the throttle at all really dives into instant fuel economy. Makes one wonder how well the mpg will be with lots of city driving or stop and go. Engine and powertrain noise is very well hushed. The problem is there is some unfamiliar road and tire noise that is too apparent in the car. I believe the source of a lot of that might be the tires (good years are often crap) but if it has the same tires as the Eco manual, then I am not sure what gives. Sad if they spend all that effort in tuning out the powertrain but still have other noises present. Engine does not rev with the immediacy of some of the frenetic wind em up and let em loose DOHC gas engines. Some buyers don't need all the luxury, leather etc. The other Cruze's are such a good buy it's a hard pill to swallow the price on this diesel. SUMMARY It's a completely regular Cruze, and it's a diesel too. Quite possibly the finest available Cruze on the market today. Should be interesting to see who bites. I think it must have some incentive money built into the MSRP, but it will probably it need that. Either way, Chevy keeps putting fine cars out. In the last two weeks I have driven two Chevy's with alternate powertrains (Volt and Cruze diesel) and both have been excellent in execution. GM clearly has the engineering prowess to push new technologies, now they just need to market and sell them into the masses and lead in this regard. The mission with the diesel is tricky because they also sell LS and LT1 Cruzes that have more of a budget car personality. The diesel's personality transcends those quite a bit to the point where it almost feels like a different car. To some degree that is probably why the car has leather and all the goods. It may be hard for Chevy to market the Cruze as an uber quality piece with so many coming in for the cheapest payment. A- for the way they mainstreamed the diesel, it would be an A once they fine tune some of the powertrain, noise, and ride things to make it bank vault german solid. I would totally drive this car, only hesitation is it's not sporty, it's a cruiser. If i want a cruiser, maybe a heavily discounted Chrysler 200 Limited is a better use of funds. Now, GM, can we haz Impala 2.3 diesel?

  15. that would be the only reason I would ever buy a chrysler, this good gas mileage on the pentastar. I wonder what the vans are pulling with it.
  16. that was just in my mind before I read your post. BINGO. I would do the grille more like the 14 Malibu though. Or the Traverse. New Cruze had better have more leg room in back. Keep in mind the non US cruze hit the globe 2 years before USA. So it makes sense the schedule on this, the question is whether the US gets it ASAP or if the union contracts keep them making it in the current design forever and a day. That said, the current design plus interior redo and a grill redo would work also. I am sensing a move away from some to abandon the forward diving character lines and now go back to a line that is high in front and fairly level or tapering to back. Fusion, Mercedes as examples.

  19. i've had our company's dodge journey quite a few times and have probably logged about 3k miles on it. Nearly all the time I have averaged high twenties with it. Now i would be curious to know the weight diff and such between the journey and ram. i can't help but think the ram will be true to its epa numbers ... there is a lack of torque in the low to mid, and they purposely put a delay on the downshift to force you to wind it up.. likewise it has aggressive throttle cut off and the sixth gear is way high. 1600 rpm at like 70 or something. I wonder how many rpm the ram runs at that speed. I think if the ram engine were retuned, it would haul out harder but of course its tuned for FE. I am guessing the larger displacement and torque tuned 4.3 feels faster on roll on acceleration.
