  1. I could see the class of younger kids who were driven around by their parents for 19 years possibly liking continuing to get driven around by a self driving car so they can just surf the phone while in the car. Self driving cars may help handicapped and older people. The automakers should tell Google to go fk itself .....Google is thinking they can take over the car industry and make the rules. Google doesn't know crap about automobile dynamics and manufacturing hard goods.
  2. confirmed...... 2.4, WITHOUT E-assist........curiously interesting. I don't think they retailed the 2.4 cars, these have to be fleet.
  3. it became apparent to me that looking into some of this glut of 2014's..... I thought on the retail side, the regular 2.4 without eAssist was not available in 2014. However, it seems like maybe some of these vehicles may have been fleet cars or something and they are non turbo and non eAssist. I have an email in to one of the dealers that is listing the 2.4 to ask if it has eAssist. My understanding is the eAssist cars have different wheels, and from what i see, almost none of these cars I am looking at have the eAssist wheels but do apparently have the 2.4 and strangely enough they don't have epa MPG ratings listed. Did Buick build a bunch of Regals for fleet with just the 2.4? Any AWDs? I think they were all FWD. Doing a quick search on Cars.com, I'm seeing a few in the same price range. I did notice that all the 2.0T are noted as "Turbo/e-assist", though. I thought it was the other way around...? Edit: Looking around at Buick's website, with the e-assist as an option, Cars.com must just lump the option with that trim level because those are definitely the 2.0T and not e-assist. 2014 Buick Regal $19,461 Cars.com 2014 Buick Regal $19,588 Cars.com 2014 Buick Regal $19,990 Cars.com Yeah, I'm wondering if that's what Reg was seeing. The eAssist Regals are exceedingly rare. You almost have to factory order one if you want one. this is starting to add up and make sense now.
  4. my reader review on the 2015, i found the redo to be quite honestly, lackluster. what ponchoman said applies. the styling is dumbed down, the interior is chunky, what was Hyundai thinking? Strangely, i have seen a few of these on the road recently, and depending on color and angle, its like a stretched Cruze from some profiles, done badly (where the Cruze is done well). Since we are talking the Hyundai motor group here, I checked out a new Kia Sedona a couple weeks ago, and let me tell you, they whiffed on that one too. The exterior is sort of nice looking but they really made a turd of an interior. I think Hyundai and Kia had an infusion of style for a few years, but now they seem to be reverting back to their old bland self. Bad deal. I think also we had our first surge of large group of converted Hyundai owners in the market and now that they cycle gives them a chance again they are not necessarily a repeat buyer brand.
  5. MKX has sold well for like 8 years, lincoln gets it, they can somehow take a Fusion, Escape, and Edge and hit paydirt charging 20k more for a repackaged Ford cousin. Lincoln gets that pretending to go toe to toe with the Germans and sport sedans doesn't move the metal. Puff cruisers and Lexus RX knockoffs are the way to go. SRX Vue could learn something from MKx
  6. smaller than the ATS, now that's a good one. ATS already has trouble selling due to space concerns. Unless they can peddle an even smaller rig in Europe, they would be better off repackaging the ATS and redoing the trim levels and such to pick up the low end of the market.
  7. http://www.glennbeck.com/2015/01/13/the-root-of-the-problem-russia-part-1-2/ http://www.nationalreview.com/article/380614/dugins-evil-theology-robert-zubrin wow this Dugin guy is a major douche
  8. took a malibu out for a spin again when i had my pile of sht (Cobalt) in for recalls a couple weeks ago. I've been positive about the car before, but it really stood out as uninspired and half baked and dated this time. Maybe its because of other competitors I drove since. So many basic things wrong with the car, even still its a decent car. Competition is too fierce and better in different things. You can't have a family car with all the flaws like the Malibu has. no back seat (but there is almost a foot of nothing under the hood) weird styling from some angles despite the nice beak, its not cohesive bad interior / dash design and other crappy seat materials on most of the trim levels cramped front seats and low dash, low pancake roof 2.5 can get raspy, where is the 8 speed or CVT? Where is the 1.8t? poor marketing, poor pricing and trim level / features packaging (not even a USB port on the LS???) nissan, honda, toyota aggressively lease their cars, GM does not for the Malibu. Why no new platform? all new and not half baked carry over. Look at ATS/CTS Caddy has a new platform and look at how awesome that turns out. Yet your bread and butter product in the most competitive segment gets an antique platform. Malibu can still exist with Impala, Impala will be around in its new style for a while now, but Impala is still going to be larger and heavier and have more lux and powertrain options. Malibu can be lighter, more efficient, but still have room and offer a nice large interior too. It will still leave room for the Cruze to grow a bit too. When we were getting our ford fixed, we had an altima rental and you know, it really did well at some basic things that i think are most important to a lot of average buyers. It was huge inside (kids and wife thought it was spacious and comfy). It got great mpg (pushing 35 for awhile until we got it rear ended), and when you didn't ride it hard, it was responsive and quiet and moved out ok. Passat and Fusion are my favorite two cars in the segment, like the Legacy and Mazda6 too. Altima I see why people get them. New Sonata is terrible. You see the Malibu gets lost in the shuffle. New spy photos look promising.
  9. Just not a fan of mazdas new melted look not the fake long hood on a front drive car.
  10. despite the age and all that, I'd still look at a cruze first and a focus second when it comes to smaller cars. I think the Mazda3 lost some of its look at me thing. Its a styling dud now. The Fit is great but still looks like a minivan and they could put more snort under the hood.
  11. despite the amazingness, if had the dough for a car like this, I'd want AWD.
  12. Didn't drive the hybrid but the 15 sonata I drove sucked. Just my opinion. It regressed in looks and doesn't drive as well as others.
  13. current debate in my head is 'do you give up all wheel drive'? Chrysler van. vs. Traverse and Explorer. The extra cost of AWD vehicle and less space in the SUV's are making a tough decision. And after the debacle replacing 4 tires due to one blowout in the T-rex with AWD, makes me wonder just how much more expense and hassle is worth it. From a market perspective, the Regal gaining the AWD option is an Ace in the hole. Buick = AWD is a nice differentiator from Chevy.
  14. their reliability rep in the US hurts. I know several people that had late 90's early 00's VW and they are forever sworn off VW. Plus, their stale and stoic Germanesque designs play well to a point but ultimately are not as appealing to the mass markets as the Honda, Ford, Toyota, Chevy set.
  15. That's pretty amazing too. Great deal.
  16. http://m.brenengen.com/search/used-buick-regal/tp-mk10-md46/ How can you sell cruzes and veranos and malibus when this nice of a car is cheaper one year later
  17. The day I was looking last week, they had one AWD turbo that was listed as an early least return for 21k and 14k miles. Next day it was gone. My guess is the Buick dealers wouldn't sell or couldn't sell the eAssist models so Buick ate it, fleeted them and is talking a loss and giving dealers a chance to sell them used. Not sure how Buick and gm can take one year old cars like that and watch them lose 40%....in the old days it was expected but the regal is a better car than that. Me and my dad are speculating when the bottom will fall out of Cruze diesel pricing.
  18. There is a glut of used 14's on the market for cheap. Was it possible there were some fleet only regals without turbo OR eAssist? For the pricing I could live with less go juice for 30mpg everyday. That would be a luxurious 'econocar' alternative at that price. Cobalt only gets 27-28 in winter anyways.
  19. Both this and the new Volvo give off wagon vibes The BMW x machines are just wagons too (x1, x3). The new mercs scream wagon too
  20. I know we've had a LaCrosse eAssist reviewed before but does anyone have experience with an eAssist Regal? Sounds whack but there are some 2014's on the used market here for about 18,5 and about 15k miles on them. Wonder about real mpg and if any reliability issues. Might be an option for a daily driver for me that I did not consider before. Otherwise thinking about Passat 1.8, Malibu, fusion etc as well as some smaller cars. Regal would be a huge upgrade.
