  1. I just realized that this car has a 6 cyl....hopefully better gas milage then the electra?
  2. The electra is too much work...plus I can get at least $5k for it with its low milage. I think it would get a much needed professional restoration rather then an ameteur job. And this car is COOL.
  3. I would definetelly rid the interior of all the dice accesories lol. My neighbor is friends with the seller...how do I know? I rcognize the town car on my block all the time. And yes, they do have a solstice.
  4. Went and took some pictures: Not a good interior pic...but the interior is mint. Has a few paint chips and dings, but the paint is actually in great shape. I can have the paint filled in and buffed back to a nice shine. On top of that, its a 2 tone paint job and has no exterior door handles...which leads me to believe that there is a keyfob for that.
  5. There's a 1950 Buick for sale a few blocks away from me and I passed by it. I know it runs but it just needs a paintjob. $6k but my dad said that he would chew the sellers down and buy it. I would sell the electra and pay him for the 50'. It's a beautiful car Same color as the red one in the pic. What do you guys think?
  6. I have $800 in the bank to use on the car. So if this costs $100-150 to do, i Have $650 to redo the headliner and I already added up $200 in stuff to order from a classic buick parts site. so thats over $400 for a mechanic to install a new fusebox and fix the sticking breakpedal...My parents are willing to invest 1000-2000 into the car if absolutelly necessary..but I have to use my money first. I already bought "stick on" chrome for the trunk where the clips have broken and the chrome is all dented up anyway. I dont need an all original car...If I sell it...the selling point will be the engine. And I don't plan on selling it anytime soon.
  7. Don't need a show car...and atleast you know how and what your car was painted with instead of those cheap maaco jobs.
  8. im on the fence...i have the time but i dont have a sheltered place to do it. A guy did a 66 corvaire in his driveway outside. he just sanded of bugs and stuff. Some paintjobs I've seen with this method look not so great but some look incredible.
  9. im guessing that you are all horrified at this idea?
  10. http://rollyourcar.com/default.aspx this could be my answer to a budget paint job!
  11. The back still sickens me...it doesn't belong on any car post 1995. The rest is ok...nothing unique though.
  12. The filler i bought is fiberglass..and the whole car isnt coated yet...but if you want older pics, ill post them.
  13. I would go for that in a second!
  14. snoozfest.
  15. Well if the paint shop damages the car(ie-destroying the filler) they are liable to repair it....but I would definately leave the filler for the shop to see. And no, the electra is not garaged nor covered.
  16. Again, this coating is temporary. Just for now...for a few months. thats it.
  17. Well, I'm not painting it....professionals are. On the bondo thing, believe me, I am very conservative with things like that. I want to use as little as possible. This white coat is only until i bring it in to get painting. Just protection. Don't want anymore holes! UPDATE: coated the hood. BTW im using krylon semi flat auto enamel.
  18. Yeah, the paint is anti rust and corrosion. And actually my uncle took some out with a hammer and block of wood.
  19. Yesterday, I finally began work on the electra. I started by sanding down all of the rust on the passenger side and spraying it with semi flat white auto enamel. Today, im going to continue doing that u tillall of the rust is gone. Then im going to use body filler to fill in the dings, small dents, and a few holes i discovered. then im going to repaint. Finally, its going to the paintshop for a new coat of paint. As, money flow increases, the nasty rear quarter damage will get removed. After the exterior, theres only a few mechanical things to get done. The interior just needs a headliner.
  20. I read the sedan review...they don't find it to be bad at all...yet most people on this site think its repulsive. Where as people outside of this site love it...therefore i dont know what to think.
  21. My neighbor took pics of the car and the cement on her camera. My pics were just to show you guys.
  22. Yea...i treated that car like gold. Just had to keep it in showroom condition and now look what happend.
  23. yep, a month and 3 days. we are filing a claim with the town since its their fault for not cleaning up a pile of broken concrete. it had been sitting there for more then 2 months so the town is going to pay for it. Tomarrow we are probably going to get estimates for repair.
  24. This time, it was the sebring. We were driving to our neighbors family's house and everything was fine. We got to their street an in order for my mom to park in front of the house, she had to make a u turn. So she made the turn and all of a sudden, it felt like we had hit the curb, went onto it and then drove back onto the street. In actuality we hit a pile of broken cement that was left by the town in the street about 2.5 feet high. There is damage on the sheet metal below the front passenger door and the bottom corner of the bumper is scraped and a little deformed. PICS TO COME
