They should be putting this all over the place, it might open a few import buyers eyes.

Chrysler lets dealers move unsold 2006s to used lot
Brougham-Holiday replied to Flybrian's topic in Chrysler
I wonder how much impact these huge price cuts will have on resale value in the comming years. -
I saw one today on a Miata I liked, the plate said "SIC DAZ".
-
I think they better stick that thing back in the ground! LMAO!
-
In the video it looks like the paint on the car may be exposed, if so, I wouldnt expect to see much more then junk.

GM Media Online 6/13/07 I hope Cadillac pushes this in their sales pitch.

The 3800 has been good to me! Ive read his other books as well, I dont read them for the leadership ideas, I read them for his stories about his many years in the car business. Although this latest book was mostly about leadership it did have a few chapters about Chrysler that I found very interesting and that made the book worth reading. Am I the only one here who read it!

Has anyone else read Lee Iacocca's new book? Like his previous 2 books I found it to be very interesting.

jpstax is right, these little items can often make or brake a car deal, just because the handle can be added aftermarket doesnt mean that Buick has to be so cheep they can't include it with the car from the start. sixty8panther is missing the point here, this is a current Buick customer who is happy with his Buick and would like to purchase another one yet the new and improved model is missing equiptment he has come to need in his older Buick. Since when has it been ok for a premium car company to remove such basic items as a assist handle and power seat option? This cheepness stinks of the old GM.

Finally! A Victory!...Sort of...

Cool! I hope once all the new domestic products hit the market over the next few years they will make a big enough splash to wash away Toyota and Hondas massive sales growth. -
Some Great Pics From Past Pontiacs
Brougham-Holiday replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Heritage Marques
I wish they would style a Pontiac that stands out as much as the 64 models. We had a 64 Catalina sport coupe and its huge 2 slot grill and coke bottle shape let people know it was a Pontiac from miles away. -
Now if they would bring back Lee Iacocca back....

They we part of GM's 50th ann.

The Top 10 GM Vehicles Of The Past 25 Years
Brougham-Holiday replied to It's MAGS Biznatches!'s topic in Opinion
1. 1984 Corvette-the start of Corvettes return from the boring late 70's models 2. Buick Regal Grand National- Great car with style, class, and amazing power. 3. 2000 Chevy Impala- The first decent mid size Chevy in years, which along with reliability brought many people to Chevy dealers. 4. 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora- One of the last bright spots for Olds, and a car that was far ahead of anything else Detroit had to offer. 5. A-body cars (Pontiac 6000, Chevy Celebrity, Buick Century, Olds Cutlass Ciera) these cars ranged from the sedate base Celebrity with its 92hp 4 cylinder which offered compact car fuel economy for a midsized sedan to the Pontiac 6000 STE. The Buick Century and Olds Cutlass Ciera together were among GM's best selling cars of the last 25 years, and through a mix of endless options and sturdy construction helped GM hang onto the mid size market for years. 6. 2006 Cadillac XLR- a car that bring the name Cadillac back to the forefront of luxury. 7. 1985-1990 Camaro IROC-Z A serious car with serious power at a time when serious competition was eating away at American market share. 8. 2007 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra- Americas greatest chance at pushing back the Japs in the full size truck segment. 9. 1989 W body cars (Chevy Lumina, Pontiac Grand Prix, Olds Cutlass Supreme, Buick Regal) Together these 4 cars introduced a whole new era of GM styling. The curves of the body and driver oriented dashboards were a big step from the boxy and boring GM cars of the early 80's. 10. 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue- GM's attempt to gain back market share may not have worked but people took notice at this car, and it was a stepping stone to GMs road back. -
What did they do to my favorite full size car! That grill looks bad!

I think its a really nice looking car, though I have old people car taste.

I think it will bring many new customers to Saturn, but will the trade off be fewer G6 convertable sales? Would it make sense to bring it here now, or wait till the next generation arrives?

"Sir, it said that the reason it wouldn't be built in the states or Western Europe is due to lack of profitability. " I agree that they will make less of a profit building cars in the US/Canada if they were to sell as many as they will building it in Mexico/etc. The Impala/Corvette/Grand Prix are 3 examples of cars built in the US/Canada that sure seem to make GM a lot of money. "We can't build cars here just to make people feel good at the cost of losing money. " Take a look at what Honda/Toyota are doing, building cars in the US is a huge marketing plus. If they were smart they would use this in ads/etc. If customers dont "feel good" about the product they are buying they arn't going to buy it. There are still many customers who buy products based on where they are made. "The reason that Toy and Honda, and all the other transplants can do what they do is because they don't have a union, an outdated commodity of the 20th century, holding them down...yet. With things in place like equal opportunity employment, OSHA, the nature of competition, there isn't a need for unions anymore. Those issues that unions used to address and defend against have now been taken care of through other methods rendering the union almost obsolete. I hope this wasn't offensive, just my take and observation." In my opinion, unions are still very important to workers everywhere. I have worked for nonunion companies and can say first hand that unions make all the difference sometimes. Equal oppertunity employment and OSHA arn't going to fight for raises or healthcare cost. The unions didnt get GM into this hole by themselves, GM for years gave generous pay and benifits. Should GM introduce a automobile into this catagory where there are many new first time buyers to be had, image can make all the difference. GM needs to use the American built image for all its worth, and help sell the idea that they are a caring company. Your post wasn't offensive, its a very good argument.

I do agree with a point Cadillacfan pointed out, yes the US automakers should be getting the same or better tax incentives that have been given out to the likes of Toyota etc. If GM could find a smart way to build a new plant or expand a current on right here in the US and save US jobs they could look like the good guys compared to Honda/Toyota/etc becuase they not only kept jobs here but they are union jobs with good benifits, etc. I know that for me personally on of the most important things in buying a new car is where its built. An example is the HHR as thefriffon said is made in Mexico, which when my dad who is looking to replace his Civic found this out, turned him off from buying it. There is a stigma attached to products built in these countries, and if anything GM needs to appear as the highest quality car maker if it wishes to regain market share.
-
That engine was optional in the Century also. In my dealer broshure for my 85 Ciera one of the pictured cars has a diesel badge on the trunk lid.
-
I wouldnt buy it just becuase they are sending the work over to these countries, why cant they build it in America? This will only hurt GM's appeal to the middle class who are tired of seeing jobs move over seas and get them to buy a Honda/Toyota made right here in America. And there is also the stigma of being built in Thiland, India, or Mexico as being of poor quality. Not a good move on GM's part.

This pic of my Olds was posted on the site of the car club whos show I brought my car to back in 2005. It got a fair amout of attention.

www.eurosportvr.com They have a loyal following as do many of the special edition a-body cars. Those of us who have them like them for thier overall durability and comfort.

The local Buick dealer has had a small batch of Rainiers that seem to be stuck to the side of the building. There are very few around here, I dont think most people ever knew it existed. Did it get the same ad time as the other Buick models?
