  1. I disagree, Oldsmobile had its model line cut down to 5 models after loosing Cutlass and Eighty Eight leaving little over lap in its line up. The Aurora would have been redesigned along with the Intrigue replacement and a modern Alero (Saturn Aura IMO). The Minivan would have been replaced with an SUV (Outlook) that would have also replaced the Bravada but would have had many trim levels to fill the entire gap. GM should have combined Oldsmobile and Saturn or Oldsmobile and Buick into a sales channel. Many of the hard work being done today, was done by Olds 10 years ago (cutting models, better engines, going for younger customers). Either way it doesn't matter because Oldsmobile has been delegated to the history books along with Packard and the many other great American automobile companies that didn't make it.
  2. "If you disagree with my Vette assessment, feel free to let me know. Just write to me here at Motor Trend. Department: April Fools." Enough said.
  3. My brother and I were driving the 2000 Civic my dad had when it was totaled, the car crumpled like a tin can. After seeing that I refuse to drive a small car, or at least one that doesn't have normal stuff like working bumpers lol. Glad everyones ok, and hopefully this accident created another Honda trade in at the local Chevy dealer.
  4. We have all GM in our house right now. My dad has the 2007 G6, My brother drives my old 1993 Buick LeSabre (its been a very good car) and I have the 3 Oldsmobiles listed in my sig). Growing up we had a 1981 Toyota Corolla (bought new because it was cheep) a 1987 Pontiac Grand Am LE (junk, gave up on it at 93,000 miles because of electrical nightmares though it was a nice car) a 1986 Ford Ranger V6 ( the worst truck ever, ended up catching fire on my uncle who bought it from us)and a 1964 Pontiac Catalina (big black 2 door with the 389ci V8 and a blue interior). Dad's G6 replaced our 2000 Honda Civic LX 4dr which was bought with 8500 miles on it. It was totaled by a young girl who was going too fast at 42000 miles in Nov. At first dad was going to look at a Honda again, but I convinced him the he should give Pontiac another try (no easy after the Grand Am, and even harder when he found out the G6 replaced the Grand Am) but he did, fell in love with a black G6 V6 that had 12 miles on it. Note 2002-2005 was the longest we ever went without one Pontiac in our drive way (going back 65+ years) between my dad junking the 87 Grand Am, and me buying my 92 Bonneville.
  5. I like the silver green color, but dont like the deletion of the chrome appearance package. How long until we get a look at the next G6?
  6. Google Cutlass Ciera Holiday and my car is the 2nd pic on the first page. And my youtube video is the first link when you do a search.
  7. Yeah, Hyundai/Kia has gotten very good at copying the other imports.
  8. Yesterday while at the show, a friend and I checked almost every car we sat in for a plastic or metal grille. I did notice that GM seems to be moving towards metal (Our G6 has the metal/chrome grille and looks much better then the plastic one on the G5). I also noticed that plastic is much more common the I would have thought. Its a little thing, but I think metal (or really just having less plastic) adds to the pride in ownership in some small way (plastic comes across as cheep to those looking at your car for the first time, plastic brakes, etc), though there are some things much more important then a grille alone. Did anyone notice the BMW switch gears in the 750 at NYIAS? My firend has a 2000 740 and was shocked at how cheep the new controls looked and felt compared to his 740 or even my Aurora for that matter.
  9. My first car was a 1985 Cutlass Ciera (still have it) when I registered on other sites I always used 85cieraholiday, but since AIM won't let you put numbers first it became...CieraHoliday85 . Very original I know lol.
  10. I was there today, and I didn't want to get out of that red XLR-V. I love the look of the dash, and how low the car sits! Overall I thought Cadillac had a nice display, easy to navigate, lots of friendly "How can I help you?'' s and I listened about the new CTS-V. I thought the display was nicer the Infiniti and Audi which didnt have much.
  11. Maybe a G5 or Cobalt? Might be able to find a left over 2007 with big discounts.
  12. Did Nissan hire Chris Bangle? The lines of this car look disorganized.
  13. I agree 100% GMC is a strong established brand with a wide model range and a large dealer network. All the Hummer brand does is let GM have 3 of the same truck v 2. The current line up isn't even made of real Hummer, just redressed Chevrolet/GMC trucks. Can we find out if Hummer has made GM any money and if so how much? Does anyone know if we can find out how much the development cost of the current Hummer line up was/is?
  14. Not only is it ugly, its a Honda Fit look alike.
  15. Who would have though that a Chrysler would be as cool some BMWs just a few years ago (300/Charger). If GM would turn up the volume on the G8 launch so Pontiac could grab some attention it would add to the cool factor. BTW: I know 2 people with BMWs (2000 740, 2003 530) and I personally am not impressed, BMWs seem to age (style wise) much faster then other cars, they are also a fortune to repair.
  16. Funny, there are no wire wheels or hood ornaments on my Aurora, although there is some brand out there in Europe that doesn't seem to have a hard time selling cars with hood ornaments (Mercedes-Benz anyone) Hummer has no purpose, its just taking money away from the GM brands that need help like Buick and Pontiac. In the world of $4 a gallon gas, Hummer isn't going to survive. Wouldnt it be great if GM took all of the money is has spend on Hummer and instead built a small truck that was better then Tacoma (like the Malibu in the mid car segment) or built a great luxury car to take on the S class and A8, as well as bring more luster back to the Cadillac brand! GM likes to make cars that people think are cool, just not cool enough to buy (SSR, Reatta, etc) Its time the spent more on the core product then a few fringe models with small following and bad image.
  17. If they would just dump the whole Hummer brand I would be a much happier person. Only GM would dump Oldsmobile and keep a brand like Hummer. Just another brand without a purpose.
  18. I have always liked Automobile Mag and Jean Jennings, but this is just sad. How long before she starts pitching us Chryslers from China? Better yet, think the Yugo is ready for a comeback?
  19. Saw a really nice cream colored Buick Enclave, and a nice black 1985ish Cutlass Supreme coupe.
  20. Sable and Taurus are down quite a bit, I haven't seem much advertising for either car.
  21. The perfect car for Pontiac right now, a coupe that could run with the Germans. GM please build this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I though it was from improper tire pressure lol!
  23. Bad engineering: Just one more way Toyota is moving us forward.
  24. The sides need some help, and plastic hubcaps arn't ok on a Buick. Give the side some style add portholes and standard alloy wheels and I think we have a hit. Call it Skylark. Give it a turbo 4 cyl and call it the Skylark Super.
  25. Chevrolet: 2005 Impala base, 2001 Monte Carlo SS, 2000 Impala LS, 1989 Iroc Z Camaro, 1968 Malibu Pontiac: 2007 G6, 2001 Bonneville Se, 1992 Bonneville Se, 1987 Grand Am LE Oldsmobile: 2001 Aurora 3.5 (2) 1998 88 LS, 1994 88 Royale, 1988 Delta 88 Royale, 1985 Cutlass Ciera coupe. Buick: 1993 LeSabre Cadillac 1996 Deville, 1995 Deville
