  2. You scare me...you know pop song lyrics too well.
  3. I had a friend in college who said "All is fair in love and war." My "friend" was a jerk -- he was the dweeb who busted his ass to get into the "bad boy" fraternity. I disagree. It is NOT the right thing to do. The kind of people (men and women) who engage in that kind of stuff generally aren't good relationship material.
  4. orgasm - now back to the thread

  7. I thought it was a birthday greeting to Jesus...on Easter? I was thinking, we are about 4 months past Christmas! At any rate, happy birthday Walt....though I don't know you like the others on the site do.
  8. Folks: Is it possible to remove the factory spoiler on a base MC or GP without making too much of a mess? Can it be done and then have the body shop where the car was delivered (no, not in a hospital) do a minor touch up on the paint? Let me know. Maybe you're not big on spoilers either. Thanks!
  9. You know, you're kind of an ass.
  10. I have a rented Monte Carlo for the Easter weekend with a OHV V6 with VVT (variable valve timing). Both the 3500 and 3900 in the MC/Impala have VVT as of this year. How does this system work? Is it an electronic chip? Can it be expected to function trouble free for a long time? The whole concept sounds complicated. Care to shed light on VVT if you know it /understand it?
  11. Just a thought....how long has it been since you changed your spark plug wires? A car can miss under load when these are in sub-optimal shape.

  13. Passover was SO yesterday (the 13th to be exact) which is also Thomas Jefferson's birthday...the only president who was also an architect. Lach - haim (Hebrew for "to life", right?)
  14. A WOP architect? WOP is a derisive name for an Italian. I believe it means WithOut Papers and has its origins on the East Coast (where else).
  15. What are you all doing for Easter (this Sunday)? I leave tomorrow pm to go to Portland to visit my Mom. Will probably spend Saturday driving to the Oregon Coast (about 80 miles to the West and very scenic, but generally c*o*l*d). Then a Sunday morning brunch and onto the plane in the afternoon to come back down. Happy Easter!
  16. My mother's neighbor she goes to church with who lives 3 blocks away and is from San Jose is this person "incarnate." She is 2 to 3 x her size in her wedding picture, refuses to work with kids 15 and 11, criticizes her husband for not making enough money (and he's a great guy), says she constantly prays for Protestants, but has time to help the priests at the parish yet not to a regular job ... and I 'effin HATE her. I told my Mom she has to keep her at least 1 mile away from me when I go up to visit so I won't go off on her in case she says the wrong thing.
  17. Reg, go to bed dammit!
  18. Reg, does my range sound about right for the experience level I cite?
  19. Most importantly, Mom's ok. Mom, (apple pie) and Chevrolet...a fortuitous combo that kept your mom safe.
  20. I'm telling.
  21. Some are real surprises. Really, a doctor makes a quarter million a year? No wonder doctors are such pricks. Anybody I know from college that's a doctor doesn't even associate with college friends who aren't in the health professions. I just notice that pattern and I didn't know anybody over in biology, but it's pretty obvious with some who live near my Mom up north (they are slumming to be in my Mom's neighborhood, having bought a house that in 1989 cost $ 229,000 and driving a Taurus/Camry). Lawyer making more than a dentist? Look how many lawyers are out there. A veterinarian only makes 79 K in the new millenium? Nah...can't be. They should be in the doctor/dentist range. Landscape architects make more than what they say there. Social service manager - wouldn't that be depressing? Couldn't deal with it. Every 10 or so years you get the lady or man who bilks the welfare system with 12 different identities. One of my childhood friends and I howl over this black lady in LA who pulled this off and lived in Ladera Heights (very nice area that's mostly Jewish and black professionals). She drove several Cadillacs and her names were off the Richter scale hilarious. Our favorite was Althenya Evans.
  22. 1.I wouldn't have done that. 2. Agreed. I am not even following who has been awarded the design. It's become political and nasty. My politically incorrect comment: You have a mayor named Bloomberg and a front runner architect named Liebeskind. Too f***ing bad Giuliani isn't mayor so maybe a great WOP architect would have had a better chance.
  23. Can we share one?
  24. I think it's more than that....some time has passed and the economy is stronger, with a lot of projects going on....especially in California or the Northeast. I would say 10 years of experience with a degree, license and some people under you as you manage a project should bring in about $ 75 K to $ 85 K. It's all over the map. Some firms are more corporate and do the decent pay/benefit thing and others are more bohemian who can't afford to pay well. Stay the hell away from the latter. I don't know about growth, but good God, in growing areas everybody's looking. In places like LV, if you have a heartbeat, you'll have a job. But then, how many people want to live in Vegas? I don't handle triple digit heat well.
