  1. WTF? Unbelievable. Was your place acquired into one of those automotive chains or something? Why did you get new management in the first place? Try to keep your chin up.

  3. Not really. I mean, I have a lot to be thankful for, but I'm really stressed. I live from one trip to the next because, when I'm somewhere else, I forget about everything. I used to take work/school mentally with me on trips and now I don't. I suppose that's progress. Work - good God. My firm has had a "brain drain." All of the brightest and best people (the middle management layer on the promo track) has left. We lost over 1/4 of our employees in the first 5 months of this year and I suspect more are leaving. Some were my friends. To counter that, we've hired and made some changes that I don't see as being wise...morale is kind of 'effed up right now. In fact, I just got a new boss...from the outside whereas 2 months ago I was working independently. It's not a reflection of my work...it's just that somebody merged their practice into our firm and they gave him some concessions. The saving feature is that I like just about everybody there...in fact, I love some of the people there. (There is just one angry dyke with an edge I can't stand and neither can anyone else). I can totally be myself (a buffoon with an irreverent personality and a million inside jokes with people) and people deal with it or flip me $h!. I have a group of friends I go to lunch with that are as nuts as I am. I will miss them when the time comes to leave. We are multi-office so there is also a Las Vegas presence and the people there are a blast as well. This is great compared to a firm I worked at in the Seattle area where the smug rain-soaked a-holes that worked there couldn't deal with my opinionated and outspoken nature and I'm sure were glad when I left. That brings up the Jimmy Buffett song (Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude). School - I'm doing a grad program at night. It's really stretching me. After May 15th, I felt like I was going to collapse. I have a larger plan so this must be finished. There aren't many people I'm nuts about in the program. Nobody I dislike but nobody I really want to know either. Two more night semesters to go! It's the thought of sleeping on beaches on the Mediterranean next summer for 1.5 months that keeps me going. Personal - I have no one in my life (romantically) and that's fine. I don't know why that's fine but for now it is. I have friends and I know nice people so that buffers it. Guys, I've seen some concerning posts up above. If you get to be in a bad way or a funk that lasts TOO long, you should seek professional help. Seriously, if you don't ask, you don't get. There is nothing to be ashamed about. Life is full of $h! and sometimes the dosing is not equitable. Some things are too big to absorb. I had a rotten 2003 when my mother was hesitant to do an equitable estate plan to provide equally for her 2 kids. I saw I side of my mother I've never seen before. The reason: she wants to appease the sibling that lives in her immediate area as I tend to live in other states and she is getting older and does not want to alienate him....is it any wonder I live elsewhere? I didn't back down until it was fixed. My rapport with my mother is permanently damaged and I spend very little time with her when I go up North over a long weekend or a holiday. SciGuy - I like your modified sig - hehe Usonia - what brought this idea on? Everybody take care, ok.
  4. orgy Yellow Jacket, you're sick...but in a good way.
  5. Good points. Yes, the options needed on the base CX would be the alloys, the split folding rear seat and possibly the Comfort/Convenience package if that's what it took to get the telescopic wheel and the leather wrapped steering wheel which feels awesome in a car (GPs, Montes, Impys I've rented).
  6. And you know I probably will, Bobo. :AH-HA_wink: Actually, I saw one today and was thinking about the hump. If only the rear was treated more like the DeVille sedan of about 3 years ago where the eye-level lamp was captured within the curved profile of the trunk lid rather than the accentuation found in the MC.At any rate, if the Monte had the 3800, I wouldn't have even needed a poll. I am somewhat recalcitrant about the 3500...I don't know why.

  8. Good memory. It is a W body Regal coupe 3800. Yesterday, it reached 225,000 miles.Since you like the Monte some...I've driven it and it is very comfortable up front now that it has the plumper Impala buckets...how have your Chevy V6's fared? I mean...how many miles were put on them without any work? The engine in the Monte is a derivative of those Chevy V6s you've owned. BTW, how's summer and the internship?
  9. long life
  10. Funny. Probably so. At any rate, does CR have the words "coarse and unrefined" on their clipboards. Deja vu. When IS the 3800 going out of production, end of 2007 MY, end of 2008 MY... I need to snag me one. My 3800 Series I just turned over 225,000 miles yesterday so CR can go to hell.

  12. If that's all city, that's great. I took a rented Impala with a 3400 from Portland to Denver and back...all highway...and got 32 and 33 on EVERY tank. I was floored, given that it's a hefty sled.
  13. Fellow C&Gers: First, it can only be a GM car since I just hit $ 2,250 on the GM card and it cannot be a Saturn product since you can't redeem GM points for those cars. I also want to keep the MSRP to no more than $ 23,000 to $ 24,000 and deal down from there. Allow me to post some pros and cons of each model that I see: Buick LaCrosse CX 3800 Pros: - great reliability and all cast iron 3800 V6 - timeless syling Cons: - bland oval grille up front - ride and handling are so-so; it's quiet but it's not the morgue, either Chevrolet Monte Carlo LT 3.5 VVT Pros: - the most comfortable cabin set-up of the bunch; "boxier" bucket seats are great - killer gas mileage with this engine Cons: - some awkward styling cues and the spoiler WILL have to come off (still laughing at the C&Ger comment that this is "the white trash car of America") - VVT is a recent addition to this engine so it could change the reliability somewhat; plus, does the reliability of the Chevy 60 deg V6s match that of the 3800? Chevrolet Malibu LT 2.2 EcoTec Pros: - very sensible package with great room and features for the price - economical econobox that no one will even look at to tamper with Cons: - all aluminum engine (the 2.2 EcoTec) would be a first for me - while cabin is fine, the material on the seats is horrible...clearly an under $20K sled Pontiac Grand Prix 3800V6 Pros: - again, the awesome reliability of the 3800V6 and a track record of reliability - a fun car to drive and a killer dashboard that feels like an airplane cockpit Cons: - the Recaro-ish seats are not that easy to get in and out of (yes, I am a normally sized person) and the orange illumination is eh - the styling in the front fascia is garish...GTO, G6 and other Pontiacs are more restrained up front It will be a 2007 purchase. I am currently doing something beyond work (i.e. school) at night and don't want to fuss with a new car. That will end in May 2007 (11 months from now). Also, I plan on being in Italy, Spain and Portugal all of June and July of 2007 before facing the "real world" again, so I will buy next year. Your input is appreciated.
  14. Paulie is a Buick man so it is the LaCrosse he is intrigued by.
  15. I can't believe this... First, all this over someone who's a model...growing up in LA, you stay away with chicks who want to be actresses or models. Most chicks with "A" looks have "D" personalities, as you will eventually learn. Better to have a chick with "B" looks and an "A" or "B" personality. (Sidebar: a chick I grew up with in LA who moved to Vegas and I haven't seen in 2 years came to visit me a couple of days ago en route to Washington state for vacation...she's very attractive, Italian and never married...well, let's just say that 2 years can change a person a lot...surprise) Second, there's somebody on this thread who went to high school with her? This is weird. Third, SciGuy seizes the opportunity to "PLUG" a Romanian kid in school. Fourth, sexual preference as a prereq for working at Starbucks...I will admit that a good chunk of the dudes who sell you your drinks at Starbucks tend toward the limp wristed, so I see Tony's deflection of the issue. God, C&G never ceases to amaze me...

  21. Disagree. I think it might look better with the neutral (tan) interior. Black interiors either go with a black exterior or a lighter exterior colors to set it off. Those two drown each other out.Funny. I was going to do the exact same poll for my own purposes.

  23. 1.You're not missing much. It's a dingy city that has an unjustified sense of self-importance 2. You know I'm just kidding with you. Hetero or gay shouldn't be an issue anyway...right? Sometimes, I wonder how well my crap rolls off your back. (Incidentally, our company's controller told me today that I was melodramatic and Italian since I've come unglued a time or two in the office). 3. Just buy the damn LaCrosse. You know what they say about "first impressions" on a multiple choice test. You've been harping LaCrosse more so than any of those others. After looking at the Aura, it looks like it will have an ugly butt. Vai. Vai. Compra la Buick.
