  2. I was running late so I hardly had time to notice what anybody around there had in their driveways....but you did.
  3. Only on C&G...gotta love it.
  4. Yes. My life qualifies. Especially when my brother said that "Mom and Dad make 'Moonstruck' look like the minor leagues." So, yes.
  5. God, certain Rivieras were wonderful...and some were misses. I definitely liked the 1990-1992 +/-. I think that Riviera should and could be RWD. It was born as a RWD personal luxury coupe. On the other hand, the Toronado (which no longer has an Olds line to bolt onto) and the Eldorado have been FWD and should remain as such if they were to ever be resurrected. I think that, with the elimination of Olds and with MC anchoring the affordable mid size/full size coupe segment, there is definitely room in the line-up for a stellar Riviera...but Buick couldn't afford to mess it up. Can they spell focus group?
  6. I have been a little busy and have wanted to go see a flick. For some stupid reason, I wanted to see "Poseidon." The reviews were not good, but I love ships. Two years out of college, I got to go on the QE2 but I was hooked long before then as a little kid when we would sail out of NY on other liners to go see relatives on the other side of the Atlantic. Is "Poseidon" any good? Any good comedies or mysteries out there? Reg, where are you?
  7. Te gusta o te encanta?(I love that last word...Cubans use it excessively)
  8. Well, then, Pantho, you will need to retrace your steps and put up some pics. Maybe when its cooler and fall colors are looking sweet. But, of course, I know you have a full plate between work and family, so that would come first, right?
  9. You NYers crack me up. You practically inhale "Flah-reh-dah" but don't move there on a full time basis. I mean, I know Westchester County and parts of L.I. are quite nice, but brrrrr....
  10. buffet (or....Booooffet)
  11. I am mixed on the FWD/RWD issue. More so than handling, the thing I like most about RWD is the fact that the engine compartment is generally "cleaner"...read: components are more accessible and there is more space. I grew up on RWD Cutlass Supremes and, save a plug or two under the compressor, everything else was reachable and readily identifiable. I think that the prime candidate for a rear wheel drive conversion is the personal luxury coupe. That being said, only 1 car in GM's stable qualifies and that would be the Monte Carlo which, given previous posts, seems to have been identified by several members. Some Monte Carlo improvements: - RWD - deletion or minimization of the sculpted fender creases - a cleaner rear end with more angular tail light treatment a la 1976, but minus the knight's crest since it seems to have gone away on other parts of the car - better tolerances on the dash assembly and the replacement of the aluminum applique with wood grain, at least on the main line models (LS and LT) Overall, I would say I like RWD more but my only FWD car has been a better vehicle than either of my RWDs, so I am mixed.
  12. Well, the facade or pretense of happiness is. Since I now live quite a ways north of there, I've joined the world of "regular people" but I am permanently scarred, for better or worse, for having spent my formative years in La-la-land.

  16. It must be the anal-retentiveness that comes with what I do for a living!
  17. I had the opportunity to meet Rivieraranch and have dinner with his family while in South Florida about 3 weeks ago. Rivieraranch posts primarily in the Buick forum. It was a good time and meeting such nice people added to the vacation. His LaCrosse CXL is in the background. It is Cardinal Red Metallic with the neutral leather interior. The fit and finish is quite nice. In the foreground is my rented base level Grand Prix with the white exterior and black cloth interior. It is amazing to think these two cars have the same underpinnings and engine/transmission yet provide such completely different driving experiences. Look at the sawgrass, palm trees and lush vegetation. It can only be South Florida!
  18. What a smart ass. I think they know what I meant and that is how they refer to us, BTW.The only reason I ever thought of it is that the Allure CXL is cloth equipped whereas our LaCrosse CXL is leather equipped...which I do not like. Even if I drove a $ 50,000 car, I'd still want cloth. (That's from jumping into a hot car if ever wearing shorts). Your point is well taken, Cadillacfan, and I know that the gap is shrinking...I tend to go to Quebec about every other year. We are now at a point where, when you add GST, it's 1:1. Too bad for us and goody for them.
  19. Hey, Sheryl Crow is a Hoosier, if I'm not mistaken. Be nice now. :AH-HA_wink:

  21. I've been to Canada more times than I can count, especially when I used to live in Seattle. About 6 years ago, the exchange rate was REALLY favorable for us. I often wondered if I ever found a new car in Vancouver I liked whether I could buy it and bring it back down over the border. Is that doable? Why or why not?
  22. Sorry, but there is something tiring about the red/orange dash at night on a long road trip. My favorite was the blue in the Olds Intrigue (and Alero for that matter). Green isn't bad, but blue is better.
  23. Not a geek at all. Thunderstorms are bitchin'. They are a real treat out West where it's dry summer/wet winter. I mean, I lived in Seattle where it just drizzled all the time. In California, when it finally decides to rain, it does so at a good clip. The other thing is that the hills studded with oak are gorgeous after the rainy season, looking like a set of a Steinbeck or Saroyan novel. Then, come summer, and it all turns brown...and the rattlesnakes kind of blend in. They are more common on the Atlantic Seaboard. I'm sure that they can be quite an event over there.
