  1. Nick, when is it ever humid in the Santa Clarita Valley? I was just there this morning and then got on a plane tonight to come home. That area is bone dry...totally brown and no build up to thunderstorms. I can image Magic Mountain (have they squelched the gang issues there?) as a toaster during the summer but not with humidity THAT high.
  2. just say no!
  3. I was in the desert on Saturday. It was 110+. Sure it was dry heat, but it was also 110. In May, I took 1 week of vacation and went to Florida. You rarely see triple digits in Florida but the 85 to 90 is always accompanied by high humidity (and thunderstorms). Obviously, I prefer 85 with 40% humidity, but if you had to pick....I seem to respond negatively to the high Farenheits. Your comfort zone?

  8. Ok, I'm in the Southland for the weekend (when I purchased the ticket, I didn't know I'd be here last month for the AIA convention). So, I forgot to bring CDs and I have to channel surf. So Cal keeps changing but some things have stayed the same for years. KRTH (K-earth) is still an oldies station, "The Wave" is still jazz, and KBIG is still generic pop. So, yesterday, I drive out to Rancho Mirage (bolts onto Palm Springs) and I'm on KRTH and I hear "Spill The Wine." What a goof-ass song, complete with the lady speaking Spanish in the background. Absurd. Then, I'm driving back and there's Disco Saturday Night ( ) on KBIG. I heard "Lady Marmalade" (voulez vous coucher avec moi) and "Push, Push in the Bush". What songs irritate the hell out of you and/or make you bust a gut?
  9. No. No, P. The "S" has always been the entry-level, economy moniker for so many cars over the years. I'm just looking for something COMPLETELY different and new for this sled.
  10. Alpha, where ya been? What "side" of the Sound is your friend getting married on? How's the weather up there this holiday weekend?

  12. Agreed. Super is cheesy. It does a disservice to the "premium" niche Buick is supposed to occupy.
  13. I voted OTHER: nothing The more I look around, the more I realize I don't like anything other than GM cars. God bless the General.

  15. I'm in LA LA land for the weekend. Planned it (bought a ticket) a long time ago not knowing I would be here last month for the AIA convention. But that's ok, the convention didn't leave much time for So Cal "hanging out." Probably road trip here and there on each of the different days and see a college friend in San Diego on Monday. I'm about to go back to the rental car agency to swap out my Impala for something else. No "June gloom" in the AM which means the day will tend toward the hot. What are C&G-ers doing on the 4th?
  16. Maybe some will lose respect for me (LOL) but I don't care. The classic song "Stairway to Heaven" SOUNDS depressing. Not one of my favorites. I prefer the push on the accelerator stuff instead....from "Radar Love" to, no apologies, "Neutron Dance" because the lyrics are so 'effin absurd.
  17. O.C. and others, here's the litmus test: Places that are constantly under gray skies or are cold like Starbucks (or Second Cup in Canada). Yep, they are everywhere in Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and you say London. A month ago, I was in Florida, and I didn't see THAT many. Fortunately. Yeah, right....it's 90 degrees with 85 percent humidity and I wan't to go get coffee. NOT! I need to move to Florida.

  20. This car (and this version) has a very nice dashboard as well as a very nicely detailed steering wheel. Also, the front end refresh this year makes ALL Malibus look so much better than the 2004-2005 version. Enjoy.
  21. maybe you shouldn't place a beer can there when you measure...
  22. There are several, but the best are: - driving by myself in a boulevard type cruiser in an autumn forest when colors are changing (could be Quebec, the aspens in the Sierra Nevada, the mountains of Georgia/North Carolina north of Atlanta) and enjoying the quiet - driving along the two-lane coastal road on the Florida Panhandle in the early evening when the crowds are thinning - driving with friends or relatives to SF and listening to music en route, making fun of everything and anything we see - driving on the Las Vegas strip at night in bumper to bumper traffic with the AC on and listening to the radio - driving the Big Sur Highway (1) or Santa Barbara coastal route (101) in light fog - driving into Montreal from the Rive Sud (South Shore) on any of numerous bridges listening to jazz - driving in foreign countries (well, except Canada) stresses me out, so that is excluded

  25. You're all mixed up, PB. J/K. I've heard many times and don't know if it's fictional, but cranberry juice is supposed to be good for the urinary tract in general, not necessarily for sexual purposes but for hygiene and health.
