  1. about the leaves about Travelodge, I've stayed there 2x, for the money, the location is great but the digs aren't; however, it has a great breakfast. When I stayed there in 2003, the day person was a Chinese chick, the afternoon person was Argentinian and the graveyard person was Moroccan....all of them a riot. And the breakfast room had both an Italian and a Brazilian guy working there, I spoke with those guys every morning. I will not be staying there this time...I plan to spend a little more for more upscale digs. Travelodge on Blvd. Rene Levesque...6 degrees of separation, I swear...LOL.

  5. Wow. What a different take on Montreal. I think the food is expensive because of the exchange rate. If it had been 1: 1.5 (wishful thinking, 1999), you wouldn't have said that. I didn't know when you were going to go, but I was going to tell you "no right turn on red, even after a full stop." I will be there in 2 weeks. Are the trees already turning color? I hope I don't miss it. You mentioned a lot of things that are true: they do dress up, the sex shop type stuff is everywhere in what is a Catholic stronghold (what can I say, the French are libertines ), the women are beautiful (again, the French blood line, no corn-fed Germanic or Scandinavian hefers to be found), and yes, they love Pontiacs (I think the reason is that this line has historically had the Frenchiest of nameplates -- Grand Prix, Bonneville, LeMans, Grand Ville, Parisienne, etc. etc.) so the Quebecois like that the same way a WOP likes to have "Monte Carlo" roll off his or her tongue. I get treated well there. My French is decent. Needless to say, I love going there. Now, Mustang dude, what sights did you go see of the long list that I gave you? And where did you eat? Did you try any Italian or Greek food? They do it quite well there as both communities are large. Did you go onto McGill's campus (the Harvard of Canada)? Dorval has been face-lifted...it was very 60s and 70s looking about 3 years ago. Well, so you had a good time, right? This is good preparation for expanding your horizons...(read "Europe next year.") I LOVE that damn city.
  6. Man 'o' man, I would not make a good Amish person at all. I guess I am Sicilian to the bone, meaning that I have to show trespassers where the boundaries are. I am way too vigilant in this regard. I think there's a happy medium, though.

  12. It's really sad because it all seemed to be preplanned. He "took out" some school kids and them kills himself. If someone's not happy, they should just take themselves out....but, no, they feel the need to involve innocent bystanders. I don't know what kind of statement that was supposed to make. Very sad and very wrong. It just goes to show how you just never know in life. Did people going to work on the subway at 7:30 am on 9/11/01 know what would happen within the next two hours? Could these young kids have ever imagined that the school day would bring this? I pointed out this kind of stuff to my Mom who was procrastinating with her estate plan because she was "cocky" about her good health. You never know. We are all pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things, it seems. The survivors and families need everyone to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.

  17. That's a nice car. I don't like Cadillacs (more formal and pretentious than what I like to portray) but I do like this model, so much so that I did a thread on it because, when I was on the Florida Panhandle, my hotel had a Caddy dealership down the street and I would go look at them at night. Yes, it is a good price. But, if the color and the options aren't right, I wouldn't be happy because I keep them for a long (duh) time. The dark interior does not appeal to me, especially in leather. OUCH. I know this sounds whacked, but I wish the Level I would feature a cloth (credit) option. Wow, Caddy dashes have come a long way and they are now somewhat driver oriented. A buying guide I looked at still said the base models have a floaty ride, but it has to be better than what they had 10 to 20 years ago. If they had a light metallic blue one with a grey or navy cloth interior, I might be tempted.

  19. Is the GP gone as a result of this or will it co-exist? I think there would be some cannabalization (is that a proper derivative of the word?) Or is the GP set for mid-cyle enhancement along with the LaCrosse? I'm wondering if the Pontiac line-up is starting to get a little crowded. It is a nice car, though. It just needs to be Pontiac-ed up a little.
  20. Hey, The O.C., does CVT feel "harsher" than a transaxle? I thought there would no bumps and grinds from shift points? Is it a simpler assembly that would be less expensive to fix? Is gas mileage better? I am really curious about it and would like to test drive something that has it.
  21. Yo, TYD, would living in Woodbridge or Richmond Hill be boring beyond tolerance? I like QUIET. Most downtown dwellers (such as yourself) typically don't like the burbs. That's a pretty good price for a Yonge/Bloor type location.....how many square feet/meters is it?
  22. Congrats, bud! Is that the last part of the whole series or just the last one you attempted? Was it Building Design/Building Planning and the Site Planning ones? That is stuff I stashed away from my memory a while back. Don't even want to think about that. But I'm happy for you!
  23. Reg, I am quite sure you are anchoring the HIGH END of the income poll! Will the person, or couple, exceeding $ 120,000 please identify himself, herself or themselves! J - U - S - T --- K - I - D - D - I - N - G !
  24. I interviewed in Denver in 2003. I decided against it. As I drove across Utah and Wyoming, it occurred to me I would be far from "an end"....a coast or boundary of sorts. The other thing, as much as I like to "road trip," if you don't head west into the Rockies or north or south into other mountain destinations: Estes Park, etc. etc, then there are no large urban areas to visit. It is a nice place that offers a lot, has sunshine and low humidity, including reasonably priced housing (lots of good townhomes in the 'burbs). It didn't feel right. It's weird how, as a Westerner, Atlanta (extremely different from where I grew up) feels like a better fit than an Intermountain West city like Denver. Regardless, back to weather and seasons, the Rockies probably put on a spectacular color show in the fall and the stands of aspen must be breathtaking. Amazing.
  25. The typical idiotic and caustic side of ocn rears it ugly head. Your low self-esteem causes you to look at ANYTHING you consider a "clue" or "indication" in others (as you do with several people on this board, or even celebrities and personalities in the spotlight) so that you can swell your ranks to make you feel better in a "misery likes company" sort of way. If that's what I wanted, I would have pursued that option...as I have with all of the other goals I have gone after. My comment was merely based on the almost excessive level of flirtation one would have never expected on an automotive forum and the few that overindulge in it....sometimes funny and sometimes annonying. What a jerk! By the way, this comment does not go out to those who might have those feelings and inclinations and can enjoy C&G without starting or derailing ongoing threads about or toward their sexual proclivities, respectively. Back to pictures, I hope...
