I'd rather be done in by artery-clogging gaucho-lassoed juicy steaks with roquefort sauce and a never-ending stream of palmitos salads than by being blindfolded and decapitated..or even shot at. I know that is the exception rather than the rule and possibly a little unfair to some wonderful people I know that hail from that part of the world; however, laid-back easy-living type places are what flip my switch.

Here's one...my favorite of the 2 Oldsmobiles I've owned. The Brougham seating was incomparable on a long-trip...no other car I've owned was more comfortable...my only complaint is that this one did not have a small block Olds V8. The W-body LIVES ! Still have it as my daily driver: 235,000 miles - turns 15 on May 16th. Currently has blackwalls, but is pretty much in the condition you see. In a Latin country, she would be getting her quincanera.

Agreed on the grille, though they are both very nice models.Remember, those were the days when GM had "nip and tuck" in their budget for EVERY model year. In fact, thinking about the 81-88 RWD Cutlass Supreme coupes (I had a 1984 Brougham coupe and LOVED it), it's amazing that you could pick out every year by its different grille...or sometimes colors. Try doing that with a 2005-2008 base model Grand Prix! LOL (The 2004 is identifiable because of the standard "dual exhaust" and the trunk's keyed lock). I'm editing this post to put up a sketch of my 1976 that I had on my "corkboard" in my office.

And there's a thread ragging on W-bodies right now... ....it would have been interesting to see what a 2007 Intrigue would have looked like if Olds was still around!

Cairo looks like a massive cesspool. I would probably be more interested in going to Istanbul than Cairo, but there's so much to see in Southern Europe and "Southern" South America, that a trip to the Middle East is not likely any time soon. Plus, I don't want a run-in with a Nile Crocodile.

I read the posts above that talked about his being picked on for his foreign accent. Does that even happen any more? Seriously? I grew up in multi-ethnic L.A. and we had so many kinds of people in school that I NEVER saw that. If it would have started, the teachers would have shut that down in a heartbeat....especially in a Catholic school. He apparently grew up in the DC-MD-VA metroplex. Heck, you would think every imaginable kind of foreign person is represented there and that he would not have been subjected to this. In grade and high school, I was sort of a class clown that could get away with it because I was an "A" student and teachers liked me. However, my humor was never at the expense of someone else. I've been on the receiving end of some ridicule, though not much, because I always said what was on my mind and was never afraid to be myself, so I sure didn't want to dish it out to someone else. However, looking back, there were definitely a fair share of mean f*cks out there.

Personally, I don't see what's wrong with it. It's fully clothed...and it's very YOU.At any rate, that Pontiac is SWEET and very easy on the eyes. It works.

I was looking at the pictures people are posting, sometimes with family members. The question of similarities and dissimilarities was brought up. I thought this would be an interesting topic. I put down "blended - more father" because when I went to upstate NY to meet part of my family on Dad's side, they had never seen me and we met at a mall to guide me back to the house in their subdivision with a bunch of cul-de-sacs, they picked me out and said "you look just like a (Dad's family surname)." But, then, a few features look like those on my Mom's brothers who, unfortunately, I can't stand! What about you? Which parent do you resemble more/most?

The ripple effect on the economy will be bad, so I can't believe that some answered that they didn't change their habits much as a result of gas prices when I put out that poll. People will drive less, recreate less, frequent fewer restaurants and stores, and on and on. Things will cost more because of the cost to transport them. Yeah, some will get "fat and happy" from the increase, but most will suffer. Not good.
