    CHEESE

LOL! Right on. I love all the light colored cheeses...like Swiss, Havarti and most of all - provolone. The cheese in Europe puts our processed crap to shame, as far as I can see. I like bleu cheese, too, but in the dressing made by Bob's Big Boy with which I cover my salad and use as a dip for the french fries. I am staying away from cheese a little more, though, as I was told to lower my cholesterol. I am not a fan of liquor, but I have two bottles of free Zinfandel a co-worker gave me. So I have one glass of this "vino" with some cheese and wheat crackers right before I go to bed. I'm trying to see if it really does lower the cholesterol count. ocn and reg, cut it out...you guys are gross....LOL
  2. Yeah, yeah, I know...I keep saying I will get a car. I will as soon as I relocate since I have now finished this evening program. And it will be as conventional an automobile as my GM Card money and the difference can buy. However, the car after that will be different. I will try to hang on to my next purchase for a while. But I was thinking: what will dealership lots be filled with in 10 yrs? What do you think? I put down hybrid because it's a technology that will undoubtedly get better. The others are a little too avant-garde though they sure are "green" (did I say that...I didn't eat any granola today). I don't think the infrastructure to support the other choices will be there just yet. Your vote and thoughts.....
  3. Effect, the noun, is spelled with an "e." Va bene? :AH-HA_wink:
  4. 13...at best! :AH-HA_wink:
  5. I was thinking the same thing. Take it easy and I wish you quick and complete healing.
  6. You've got more to worry about...he lives a stone's throw from you...gated community and all...hehe
  7. It was the knock sensor, which was Code 43, just like they told me at one of the auto parts stores where they will stick in the code analyzer for free. With parts, labor and the entry fee diagnostics, it was not cheap. Oh well, 3 sensors total in 15 years and no computer...yet... I just want it to get to 250,000 and then roll it off a cliff...just kidding.
  8. I'll have to say I agree with her! :AH-HA_wink:

  10. This must be the most birthdays in one day! Mustang84 Cremazie Cutlassdude96 Chevnovs99 Happy birthday to all of you!
  11. I can't complain after 15 years and almost a quarter of a million miles. From another thread, I have to get either a tie rod or a front wheel bearing assembly fixed...but that can wait until early next week. Now, I evidently have a sensor problem. For a while now, the SES light came and went intermittently and the only noticeable problem was a surge right after shifting into OD (4th) at relatively low rpms (1600 or so) and, right after shifting, if the engine is put under load. It was sort of a flat spot. Now the SES light is on "full time." Upon start-up, the 3800 revs up a little more than usual, idling is rough and the tach seems to wander (better with A/C on, which almost eliminates it) and it's running rich. Sensors replaced: within the last year or so, the O2 sensor three years ago, the MAF sensor Suspected culprits (based on reading some articles): MAF Sensor Idle Control Valve Throttle Position Sensor I had it in Saturday, he found a code that didn't need fixing (false read) and I have to bring it back. But, there are smarter and more mechanically inclined people here than myself. Have you had this happen? What was it?

  14. Hope you stick around! There are a lot of "unique" people here, for lack of a better word...
  15. Bemvindo, Deds! Uma outra pessoa do Portugal ... eu fui em Lisboa seis vezes! Gosto muito da sua cidade! I think that, first and foremost, there is an American obsession with European things as being "cool" or "the way to be." I will say that their "upper end" cars are impressive cars. However, their entry level cars are highly functional but not suitable for American driving conditions, except in maybe the densest of cities. (When I see these cars, the first thing that goes through my mind is that I would not want to be clipped by a Cadillac or an SUV). About specific European cars I know: Italian: - one cousin in Florence IT has a Punto; this is the bread and butter Fiat car. It seems to serve her well... - Lancia Ypsilon - uglier than sin; it looks like a caricature (in Italy, it is nicknamed "L'Elefantino") Spanish: - I think the S.E.A.T. Ibiza coupe (the model in existence about 3 to 4 years ago) is the best looking of the bread and butter entry-level European cars French: - another cousin in Sicily has a Twingo; it seems to work well for him; it is unusual looking in the front, like it's sad or something... - I am expecting to have a Citroen C-3 on Gran Canaria this summer German: - I have Mercedes Smarts reserved at most of my European destinations this summer (being that they are automatic instead of manual) - obviously, Mercedes makes impressive cars but they just don't feel right to me; if I had money to throw away on a car, I'd buy a Cadillac DTS in Ice Blue Metallic Another thing to keep in mind is that European cars are very costly here (to buy, to insure and to repair).

  19. Thank you. Very thorough to you and Olds. I have an appointment next week and will try to drive it as little as possible in the mean time.
  20. Yeah, I'm taking my stuff up there to store it at the end of the month while I travel. MAX = decent system; the end of the line is where the Greshies live (people from Gresham) Local beer = hate ALL beer Local cuisine = lots of good eateries, but I like portion size over presentation. Weather = my Mom says it has been nice lately BACK TO THREAD: whenever Reg runs a chick or Rosie thread, it degenerates into a relationship thread and acquires a life of its own!
  21. grateful
  22. Good eye and good call! I can do without the fussiness in the rear lamps.
  23. I had been drinking orange juice or grapefruit juice just about every morning. I love it, no doubt, and it's good for you, but I picked up some apple juice on sale and talk about delicious and soothing. Not as tart, either. What is your favorite type of juice?
