  1. $1.669 BEFORE a 3 cent card discount at Safeway, but I currently have a 10 cent discount to be used by 12-31-08. For some reason, OR/WA are about 10 cents more than Northern Calif. at this time. I don't know why. Are you really thinking something is seriously wrong or some economic mechanism isn't working....that gas is $ 3.00 a gallon less than it was 6 months ago?

  3. Marionberry (it's like a raspberry that is grown in Marion Co., OR)
  4. Oh, I totally know where you're coming from. My parents taught me the same thing. In my initial post, I was noting the slight "startle" one experiences when there isn't "enough" time to prepare. It's how "unfair" it is that startles us, I think. I think that some people so afflicted are, deep down, stronger than we are, on many levels.

  13. Nah...you wouldn't want me to be obnoxious. At my hotel immediately south of the Canadian border on Thanksgiving Friday night, I found a whole bunch of You Tube "goodbye to the QE2" stuff. I know I have hammered you guys with this QM2 and QE2 stuff in the past, so I'll pass. Plus, I know it would make P-C-S unhappy.

  15. Ok, you are in a supermarket or at Costco or in a large office building. You are walking around a corner or going down the aisle and you almost run into / come face-to-face with a person who has a disease which has disfigured them, have been severely burned or subjected to some other tragedy that has markedly altered their appearance. Because of the fact that you were taken off guard and you were hurrying about, you would have ordinarily tried to be very composed, but I think that what happens is that you may make eye contact and then look away a little TOO quickly. You wind up feeling real bad. But you also know that others, in similar circumstances, may have reacted in a similar manner. I continue to do my shopping or run my errand. I almost wish I had never set foot in the store at the same time. I will usually say a quick prayer once I get into my car....for them, for me, for whomever. Have you had this happen to you?
  16. Abso-f@#kin-lutely. I'm expecting it to roughly double by next summer, just by the time everybody WANTS to go somewhere.
  17. You people from the Northeast get it! My response to thread: guilt
  18. I do ! Two reasons: (1) it tells you what the car is capable of, and (2) if the car is older, it theoretically tells you what kind of condition the engine / fuel delivery / emissions system is in

  21. Ha, you got it! My response to thread: hick
  22. The tranny should theoretically shift smoother. With a '99, you have an electronic chip in the GM transmission, so it's more "solid state." With my '92, it was fully hydraulic, so I think they can do some linkage adjustments. Still, it shouldn't impact mileage because, at about 60 mph, you should be turning about 1700 to 1900 rpm. Now, if your tach indicates otherwise, either your tach is off or it's something else (which I don't know enough about). The reason we (should) get such great mileage in those V6 W-bodies while on the highway is because of the low rpm s.
  23. Grand Tetons (the etymology of that name for the Wyoming mountains is "interesting")
  24. Happy birthday, folks. We Nov 22-Dec 21 people are the best!
  25. Ah, $h!, PHX is too far...
