  9. I never got along with EITHER of my parents, with yelling being the norm. I've only lost my cool with 1 or 2 friends. I've generally been on great terms with most friends, co-workers or bosses I've had. For me, it was the cultural and educational gap. You can't have their limited viewpoint on the world and then try to raise kids who are very educated and cosmopolitan, and always think they're your little kid. My father's passing was no surprise. It came on the heels of a few years' decline in health related to cardiac issues. It was better, actually, since my mom played nurse 24/7 for a couple of years and she needed to get some sleep. I see that other kids/adults have better relationships with their parents and, if you do, you're lucky. You will always have that memory. It sounds like that's the case with you, B.
  10. Right, I agree, beyond a dozen or so years there's little to relate to, IMO. As I purchase my groceries at Safeway or wherever, I am oblivious to Britney, Jessica Simpson, or Jennifer Anniston (though the latter is now 35-40). Angeline Jolie is undoubtedly beautiful and, if someone like that who was a REGULAR person was pushing her cart past you at the market you'd notice her but, when you realize how worthless she is on a personal level, you'd tune her out, too. The bold part begs the question, if there is a percentage of men who haven't married, are childless and are professional, where is (both physically domiciled and in terms of a similar percentage) that equivalent group of women who are not married, childless and professional. I've never been able to figure out why "the math" is OFF when it comes to this.

  15. Well, yeah, facing the fact that they are losing their looks would make them want to "get down to business." Notice THEY become the hunters and men become the hunted.
  16. I looked her up and she's a 41-y.o. Dayton OH native. Some of her pictures are not flattering, but others are. I think, in constant motion, she looks good. But, kudos to her, she's beautiful and a Hollywood star ... and has managed to be married ONCE and has 2 kids.

  20. What is she? Like 35 to 42? She's a light-skinned Greek, I don't think she's olive skinned at all, from watching an episode or two of "Providence."

  22. Why all these blondes? Just kidding, of course. It seems to be the American standard for hot. Why not dark-haired women? What about Melina Kanakarides (sp)?
  23. Insane. Absolutely insane. Tonight, Safeway at $ 2.33 before Safeway Club card discount. In 6 months, the price of a COMMODITY has been sliced in HALF. So, it was either too high before or too low right now. A couple of road trips to Tahoe are in the plans...stat...
  24. I KNEW you'd say that. My answer: whoever has the biggest knockers...shallow, I know... Does anyone remember the original "Godfather?" The scene where Al Pacino first makes love to his new bride Apollonia (the one who gets blown up in the car bomb)? And does anyone remember what she looked like from the neck down?
  25. People are free to do what they want to do...and for whatever reason they want to. Maybe they shouldn't talk about it. Guess what? I DID NOT vote for President. About 3 days prior to Election Day, I realized I was disgusted with both candidates...and would have been disgusted if Hillary was the Dem's nominee. I felt that there were enough people out there who were clearly passionate about one candidate or the other...like most of you. There were few people who processed this the way that I did, I'm sure, so I felt comfortable about abstaining. There were enough propositions on the CA ballot that I could read and formulate opinions on, so I voted on those. When the lady at the exit looked at my ballot as I fed it into the scanner, she looked kind of perplexed as that is the first thing one sees....President...up in the upper left hand corner of the form....left blank. Probably more perplexed that I was dressed in a coat and tie. She couldn't have said anything...or she wouldn't have that job.
