  2. You don't??? What about all those tacky package-deal Germans and Brits who descend on the Algarve and have to have their beer and fish and chips, respectively? What's the Portuguese word for "Happy Thanksgiving?" In Spanish, they call our feast "Feliz Accion de Gracias" In Italian, they call our feast "Buon Ringraziamento"

  5. Well, I always used to draw houses, cars, ships and planes.....nonstop. For some reason, as a kid, the opera-windowed GM mid-size coupes struck me and then, the proportions of the 1975 Cutlass Supreme or Salon coupe became especially captivating to me -- the grille, the taillamps, the opera window and the crease in the rear backlite, the dashboard with its circular vents, the quiet, confident "whoosh" of an Olds Rocket V8, and on and on... At any rate, the next door neighbors bought a 1975 Supreme coupe (260 V8) and my parents bought a 1976 Supreme coupe (350 V8). I knew I would eventually have access to that car, so I then worked on my mechanical knowledge so I could take care of it. It later took me across America to Atlanta, to grad school at a Big 10 university, and on road trips during grad school summers to NY and to Miami. At the end of grad school, I sadly said goodbye to the Cutlass in the Midwest, where a local farmer bought it from me and I got on a plane to "go home."

  7. Awesome, it will be a 3-day work week...with everyone most likely being "on demerol" the second half of the day on Wednesday, if not leaving early. I'm heading up to the PNW. It'll be a brunch with my Mom on TG Day. I'm seriously thinking of going up to Canada (Vancouver) for the remaining 3 days, seeing that gas is under $2 a gallon. What will you folks be doing? Be sure to be thankful for what you have, as some people aren't in good sorts these days and people in third world countries have next to nothing. Ok, off my soapbox....safe travels! Happy Thanksgiving!
  8. Wow... ...and I was beaming with my $1.869 at Safeway.

  24. That's awesome. These can go on and on. Yesterday, on the morning train to work, a black male in his 20s is sitting in front of me. He had a hooded sweatshirt/jacket on, pulled up over his head. It was full of slogans: - Keep a low profile in DA hood - Keep dog close (probably a pit bull) - Don't go into the wrong section And all this other crap about DA HOOD....like a high school yearbook that had been filled up. He was listening to music on his ipod/MP3/whatever through his earphones, shaking his head up and down rhythmically and making these goofy hand motions. Poor lady who had to sit next to him. It was a combination of entertaining and sad.
