Stunning. The Appalachians, the Piedmont and the Adirondacks/Catskills in fall colors are out of this world. Out West, we will see some stands of aspen turning yellow in the midst of the Ponderosa pines, which is very nice, but not to the extent it occurs in the East. That's why I've been to Quebec / upstate NY 7 times in the last 12 years....always in October.

Watching the snow fall can be fun. Up in the PNW, where my Mom lives, they don't have the set-up to get rid of the snow and Portland and Seatlle have slowed to a crawl. It's been snowing there for a week and they are expecting another week of the white stuff. The West is atypically cold right now.

Oh, no, here we go again Simple pleasure? A hot cup of earl grey tea and doing my reading or other paperwork...preferably NOT at a "chain" location.

I don't much care for (if at all): Spicy foods of the following types: Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Ethiopian

I had to look at it. "Sample This" with non-lyrical "Carmel" and "Night Flight" being 2 songs I can't get enough of I essentially found jazz and stopped listening to rock My response to thread: memory lane

This is how I got hooked, so it belongs here rather than in the Olds sub-forum. I would have posted the pictures had they been mine, so try the links. To me, there has never been anything more beautiful than the following: 1. The factory picture of the 1975 Cutlass Supreme - it has a beautiful shape and the enamel light blue (Horizon Blue) that year stood out. Weird: so many of the guys in my (extended) family look, or looked, like the guy standing next to the car, at one time or another. Link - factory ad - dubbed "the little limosine" - on Zola from Hungary's web site 2. Leigh Ann Shimonovich (great name) is another proud Cutlass Supreme owner. Link - Leigh Ann's beautiful 1975 3. From the deciduous trees, this Cutlass "lives" in the eastern half of the US - the Horizon Blue shows up again - this is a restored Cutlass Supreme with the swiveling buckets. It's a site dedicated to this guy's restoration of his Cutlass, taking it onto the cover of Hot Rod Magazine. Link - Look at the 3/4 view in front of the mansion with the amber turning lights on - stunning! 4. Here's one from a guy in Kentucky. It's a Cutlass Salon, the top of the line for 1975, and I've never seen one this immaculate. This is a lucky guy. Link - George Conklin's faultless Cutlass Salon with Kentucky plates proclaiming it a classic car 5. Here's the interior / dashboard view of a Cutlass Salon. Yes, it's a Salon because of the much more substantial bucket seats, the console, the dimmer on the stalk instead of on the floor, and the thicker steering wheel... but look at the climate control center (this one had NO air conditioning) and manual windows! In its day, this was America's most beautiful dashboard. Link - the Cutlass's beautiful dashboard 6. My favorite color for 1975, Persimmon Metallic, though attached to the nondescript fastback base model. On the Supreme and Salon opera-windowed coupes, this color (much nicer than the recent Pontiac orange and more of a deep rust), combined with the color-keyed factory rally wheels, mesmerized me. Link - factory ad on Zola from Hungary's web site - basic "non-Supreme" model in Persimmon Metallic 7. The 1975 color chart for Oldsmobile. My favorites: Persimmon, Inca Silver, Canyon Copper, Spectre Blue and, in some cases, Horizon Blue (enamel) and Dove Gray (enamel). By comparison, today's color choices are pathetic. Link - 1975 factory colors on Zola from Hungary's web site 8. After 1975's warm-up exercise, the 1976 stole North America's heart! They sold 512,000 of these cars in 1976. While most people on the street can't verbalize the qualities of good design, its yatch-like good looks made them sell like hot cakes. Link - on Zola from Hungary's web site - three words: OH - MY - GOD Yes, the 1975-1977 Cutlass Supreme and Cutlass Salon colonnade coupes...the automotive loves of my life.

I meant in the US. I'd forgotten you guys. One to two months of usability...that's it. Drizzle...drizzle...drizzle. Which one's that? Kitsilano, Spanish Banks, or Wreck Beach (the legal nude one sitting right under the UBC campus...crazy)?

Actually, many have a "bump and bite" tactic...by then, it's too late for you, while they've already "decided" on whether they like you or not. The intent of the thread is if you had to PICK one....to live in, or by, all year round. If you have to have both, it only means you can live in parts of CA, OR, WA, and Maine.

Right, and remember that the boobs attached to women who live in our mountain hideaways are attached to scary people.

Actually, I see a shark fin...sizing you up as dinner.

Going up to Lake Tahoe last weekend, I was able to marvel (for the umpteenth time) at its dramatic beauty. The fact that it could snow at a moment's notice and one would have to chain up put me in an "eh" mood. I was thinking: "there's no way I could live up here." Today, I was cleaning up and looking at post cards I collect. The common denominator: at least 95% of them are beach or port scenes. Besides, granolas and ex-hippies take refuge in mountain towns. They don't gravitate to the beach as readily. That being said, if I had to pick "beach" or "mountains" to hang my hat year round, it would be "beach." What about you?

Have you ever noticed that REALLY fat people are either really nice or really nasty? What's up with that?

well, it's parched desolate desert versus crumbling buildings... My response to thread: Farmington Hills (I once knew a CAP - Catholic American Princess - from there)

I always found the "every division of GM" V8 format interesting, keeping the aficionados on their toes. C / B / O / P: (? means I don't know if that division offered a variant) 454 / ? / 455 / ? ? / ? / 403 / 400 350 / 350 / 350 / 350 (this one I know) 305 / na / 307 / 301 (this one I know) 267 / na / 260 / 265 (this one I know) Balthazar, I always though Oldsmobile Rockets ruled the roost in the longevity department. I presume the PMD engines had better performance stats, though, that's why I am bolding up the parts of your quote I don't understand. Also, I remember that the PMD V8 engines had better access to spark plugs and Chevy V8 engines had the worst. Olds V8s were only a problem behind the AC compressor. I've seen RWD Olds Rocket V8s w/o A/C and they make for a "nice" and workable engine compartment. Ok, back to fruits, cum, "Sex and the City" and reproduction...

I saw the title of this thread and all I could think of is that rancid grammar school joke: Q: What is the nuns' favorite exercise? A: Deep knee-bends in the cucumber patch. Please pray for me, especially you PCS, being that you frequent Latin Mass. My answer is the elliptical cross-trainer. About 30 minutes + another 10 on an inclined treadmill = 500 calories. That's a Big Mac, though I don't eat burgers any more. I know HOW to swim. But I feel beat after 5 to 10 laps. On an elliptical, or biking outside, I can keep going much longer. Never understood that....
