  1. Going up north where the remaining members of my family live...the once-every-3-month ritual...but will take a day for myself to go up to Canada, or somewhere, to clear my head. Well, I know it will be salmon on Friday night (Good Friday) and a brunch I don't have to pay for on Sunday morning, so not all is lost. Any plans for Easter?
  2. Park (one of the ever-changing names for Candlestick Park in San Francisco)

  5. Awesome, guys. I appreciate it!

  8. Hey gents and ladies (where's gmpg these days?) I'd like to think I'm fairly smart, but I'm always a "late adopter" (marketing term) when it comes to technology, for the pricing and for me to "get over" my lack of understanding the new technology. (Duh, I bought a 3800 OHV V6). That being said, I'm using my tax refunds to buy new hardware. Some brief questions: 1) Are the HP Pavilion desktops with Intel Dual Core or Quad Core reliable machines? Any pluses or minuses? What kinds of limitations to their use could I encounter by limiting the size of the hard drive or RAM? (I will not be getting a laptop, though my friend says they're ideal for a coffeehouse person). 2) Are the flat screen monitors in the 20" range by HP or Samsung reliable and to which a consumer ought to be indifferent? 3) I have found 2 all-in-ones I like. Both are about $300. One is the HP Photosmart and the other is an OfficePro 8500. How would you decide which to buy? Thanks. I know there are numerous tech-savvy people here.

  10. What I hate is when the stupid servers try to EXPLAIN Italian food to you... and all I can think is "shut the f@#k up, I know more than you do"... but every once in a while, like the tacky Olive Garden, they get a dish right. PB, glad you enjoyed your b-day.
  11. Welcome back, hope things settle down nicely for you, and I'm sure you'll make the right car choice (in the end, we tend to sign on the correct dotted line...that is, if we have a backbone...referring to myself, who analyzes things backwards and forwards).
  12. I'd go for the entry-level G8. But if it doesn't pencil, pick one of the others you mention. The Vibe shares Matrix reliability, right? Hmmm. How about an entry-level 4-cyl Malibu?
  13. Wait, for your birthday, you are taking all of us to Romano's Macaroni Grill, right? Seems you like that place.

  16. I will keep your uncle, his family, you and your family in my prayers. I will do the same for reg's mother-in-law and the families. It sounds like he was a very good man. I am very sorry to hear this.
  17. Very attractive car...good getting better. It's hard to explain how someone would consider a Cam-cord with these kinds of vehicles around. And they drive as good as they look. Also rooting for a Ford comeback with great cars like this and the upcoming updated and unmistakably American 2010 Taurus

  19. I should have said "historically." That ethnic segment has moved out to the suburbs. Case in point is Montreal. While there was a larger European immigrant contingent in Cote-des-Neiges/Snowdon (near St. Joseph's Oratory shrine) in the past, there is now a large Ethiopian/Eritrean community in that neighborhood...just the way things evolve.
  20. I think I'd take the Buick over the Cadillac, both for the engine and the more comfortable looking seats. The Cadillac is 4.1 V8 equipped, which is synonymous with headache. The V8 in the Buick is of Oldsmobile lineage, thus a "Rocket"...that's awesome. Also, had it been a 4.1 V6, which was only around a couple of years, that could be good...but they had their mechanical gremlins which can be learned if one looks them up on various engine reference sites. Yes, those large early 80s sedan were attractive vehicles, with the Parisienne (or whatever it's called, depending on where you are) being the best looking.
  21. Saw 2 different black (or dark primer) Ford Falcons over the weekend in adjacent communities. Hadn't seen a Falcon in months, though I see a Maverick every now and then. Oh, yeah, had to throw this in: Saw a late-model white Ford Ranger pick-up truck on the freeway coming home Friday night...nothing unusual except the driver. She looked like one of the Heart sisters way back when, with hair parted in the middle, a mean look on her face (though not a particularly large woman), and flicking her cigarette out the window as she drove...I was wondering if there was any carpet left on her floorboards
  22. So where are you going to be based? Or will you continue to be a jet-setter? Do they have gated communities in Munchen...I only saw highrises, townhomes and unfriendly people?
  23. You tell us over and over ... and so? :AH-HA_wink:
  24. That's awesome. Some of those communities in Queens are Guido Central.
  25. yeah, rotsa ruck. Response to thread: sassy
