  1. I think there's a "happy medium" on cowls and beltlines. Just tonight, I went to a nearby Ford dealership after going to Border's. It was still open and the salesman was very cool, after I told him I bought a GM car a little over a year ago. We were talking about the Fusion and he said they sold well. There were two new Tauruses nearby. He said that while the Taurus is the flagship luxury car, the Fusion is one heck of a value for the dollar. The beltines and greenhouses are neither too 80s, nor ridiculously small. The interior ergonomics would appear to work for most people. If I was in the market right now, I would probably pop for a Fusion SE with the 4-cylinder. Ok, sorry for the digression...

  5. I used to NOT have it, so I know the difference.
  6. Does anyone think the "low cowl" and "no-need-to-be-an-astronaut" look will ever make a comeback for car interiors? (I am referring to the new Taurus which, while beautiful, is a little confining once inside).
  7. So many people I know are night owls. Even as a teenager, I never did much at night, except come home when the movie at the theater ended and, every once in a while, end up at Bob's Big Boy eating "the combo" with my friends. It probably goes with not liking to drive at night, either. I like seeing everything fairly clearly. I couldn't study at night. My concentration went out the window right at about 11 pm, which was when the library closed anyway. I've always been a morning person.
  8. They are fantastic. Generally, each rear taillamp is divided into a vertical set of "bars," like on the new Mustang. They blink sequentially, one at a time, and then return to the first "bar" to do the same thing, 1-2-3...1-2-3. It's both effective and visually appealing. Sidebar/edit: They were on both T-birds and Cougars of the late 60s, looking especially cool on the Cougars. Fortunately, or unfortunately, history repeats itself.
  9. Since living in California again (less than 2 years), I have not slept well at all. I love to sleep. I used to take a nap in the early evening for 2 hours. I used to then get a full 7 to 8 hours of sleep. No longer. I take Ambien generic. I went for months without sleep prior to getting it prescribed. It generally works well (unless there has been a very stressful episode) and I wake up feeling completely alert. I recommend that anyone who has sleeping problems get help. The solution is often feasible.

  17. Between PHX and DEN, I'd pick DEN. I think I could put up with knowing so many granolas live within 40 miles of me (in Boulder, that is) and choose to live in of those kept-up suburbs or, better yet, in Evergreen or Conifer (those looked nice). Now, if you add BOS to the mix, and I COULD AFFORD IT, I'd live in New England in a heartbeat. The coast of Maine is unbelievable (minus Subarus).

  19. Ditto here. Any place that has a long, hot dry summer is conducive to having dash covers. Yes, I much prefer seeing the burgundy-colored "ravine styled" dash and overhanging, uninterrupted cowl (found on the 1988-1994 Regals), but from May through September, I've kept the carpeted dash covers "velcroed" on. During the winter months, I take them off.
  20. Exactly. Last generation 04-08: better dash design, worse materials Generation prior 97-03: acceptable (but not too interesting) dash design, better materials

  24. Ok, since you are all reaching back in time, let's say early 70s base Maverick with plaid seats, no carpeting and no lighter. One of my Mom's friends when we lived in LA, a chain-smoking Brooklyn-transplanted Italian lady with sequined cat glasses bought one and carted around several other Italian ladies to their social functions. I'll bet that within 1 week of her buying it, it reeked of cigarettes. If I ever see a Maverick, I remember this lady.
