  1. This sort of reminds me of the sign they post in ski areas: * those that go out of designated ski areas are liable for the cost of the search and rescue * But this is on a much grander scale, affecting traffic at D.I.A., a critical U.S. airport. The kid's dad is a real knuckle-head, that's for sure.

  19. Hey, good to see you post again! You're still down in Brazil, huh? You must like it. Are you speaking Portuguese now? (it's been a while)...or, "voce pode falar Portugues agora?" I got to see Rio de Janeiro for 4 days in April 2003. It's easily the most beautiful city in the world, but I didn't like the "edginess," so I doubt I'll ever go to Brazil again. Oh, yeah, those older ladies on tours probably all have a sense of humor, unless they're with a church group...

  21. Well, more high-schoolish than "little" kid: Q: How many Californians does it take to screw in a light bulb? A: Ten. One to do it, and nine to share in the experience.

  23. Oh, yeah, in tea. Now that colder weather is approaching, I will be drinking a lot of Earl Grey tea with honey in it, sitting in a coffeehouse somewhere. Back to pancakes...

  25. I don't know the difference, so I had to google Aunt Jemima. That's what my parents would put on my pancakes when they made them for me as a kid. It tasted fine. I looked it up...the original syrup is corn-based. (Though I have had maple syrups, and they taste great ... I didn't read the label for the type or grade).
