  1. Excellent choice. I've always been a fan of Mack Eagles.

    EYE CANDY

A late-model F-series towing a Model A sedan on an open car trailer this morning on my way to work.
  3. An offbeat independent I hope to own some day is a 1934-1935 Hupmobile Aerodynamic Eight:

    EYE CANDY

Saw a pretty nice late 70's Z28 on the road today, silver with the red/orange/lighter orange side decals That's crazy. Did you attempt to buy it?

    EYE CANDY

Saw a '39 Plymouth two-door sedan today, mildly rodded and covered in salt! Unbelievable; could be the owner's only car right now maybe?

    OREGON

A ban on aftermarket parts, great. Another incredible piece of legislation by people that have never built anything in their entire lives that tells the people that do how to do it with absolutely zero basis in reality. I'm telling you, whatever we pay our politicians isn't nearly enough! This is amazing!
  7. Yep, that's about the size of it. Can't argue with any of it. It's one of the best and worst places to live at the same time.
  8. She IS a beauty, but disqualified for a few reasons: 1. Distance. It's 3500 miles away. 2. TAILGATE! This is a big no-no for anybody that uses their Suburban like a Suburban is meant to be used. Slamming these tailgates does wonders for the delicate electrical and mechanical components inside that raise and lower that rear window. Sure, there's an access panel, but at $120 a pop for rear window motors I'm all set. Plus, here in New England, the bottom sill would rot out so fast that in about two years I would open it and it would fall onto the ground.
  9. Those are called Woodlites, a period aftermarket accessory from the 1930's.
  10. What displacement and what are your plans for them?
  11. Hah! Too funny! I totally hear and believe you, but I still also see a guy trying to fill the gaping hole in his (automotive) life with everything but what can actually fill it: a black big block four-speed '70 SS El Camino with white stripes. You only live once, dude. And props to you for deciding enough's enough in regards to payments.

How about you stop dicking around and finally buy a '70 El Camino to restore, or a done one. Why do you feel the need to perpetually have a car payment? Dump all your $h!, finish the mothertruck and use that as your daily, and finally BUY WHAT YOU'VE WANTED SINCE YOU GOT RID OF THE FIRST ONE! Seriously. f@#k new cars, and f@#k being a slave to banks and credit card companies. If you do what I suggest, you do it on your terms and choose how much to spend and when, and you have EXACTLY what you want in the end because you built it for you instead of struggling with compromise. If nothing new out there doesn't COMPLETELY appeal to you with zero compromises, don't buy it. If nobody makes what you want, make it yourself. Simple as that.
  14. My mother tried unsuccessfully to quit a few times before it finally stuck. She made it her new year's resolution about 13 years ago and for whatever reason it worked. No patch, no gum, nothing; cold turkey. I'm very proud of her. My father had a heart attack at 42 which forced him to quit. Even though that's what it took, I'm still proud of him too.
  15. Hah! I remember being out fishing on the boat with my father once when I was about eight years old and a huge flock of Canadian geese landed on the beautifully manicured lawn of the nicest home on the lake. The homeowner, half awake, walked out onto his back deck in just a bathrobe and boxers, and lit a HUGE string of firecrackers. He threw it directly into the middle of the geese and when they went off, they cleared out mighty fast! To this day, my father and I still fish that lake and we haven't seen any Canadian geese on that lawn since!

    An Icy Stare

Saw an AMC Eagle wagon on the way to work this morning; haven't seen one of those in ages.

    An Icy Stare

Slightly warmer, drier weather coaxed these ones out on the road near me: -1979 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, triple silver, beautiful shape -1976 Mercury Cougar XR7, white with burgundy top/interior, decent shape -1966 Chevrolet Caprice four door hardtop, burgundy, decent shape
  18. I've bought a couple neat non-automotive antiques off craigslist over the years. I'm beginning the process now of going through all my junk and can hopefully dump it all on craigslist and make a couple bucks.
  19. I've been on the hunt for the perfect '71 for a few years now; I'd love to find one soon!
  20. Pretty cool, but I think if I were going to choose an obscure early 1960's Chevrolet performance engine to stuff into that truck, I'd have gone for a 409
  21. Nobody thinks this car is cool when there's a Diamond-T fire engine parked behind it! (but the little yellow Buick would be pretty neat by itself)
  22. I think you should donate it to the XP715 foundation. All donations are tax-deductible! I dunno, what do you WANT for it (I really like it!)?
  23. +1.
  24. f@#kin A! I've ALWAYS said this! I work hard, and I deserve to drive a nice new vehicle. Unfortunately for me, good new vehicles stopped being produced about 15 years ago. So I'll either buy something like this, or find exactly what I want and make it new again to have the "new" vehicle I desire. f@#k new cars. They're all useless.
  25. That's funny. My mother didn't own her first four door car ('99 Bonneville) until after I was old enough to drive myself and she didn't need to bring me anywhere. I spent my childhood climbing in and out of the back of a '73 Caprice Landau coupe, a '79 Monte Carlo, and an '85 Eldorado whenever my parents and I all had to go somewhere together. We'd also ride three across on the bench seats of my father's pickup trucks if need be.
