  1. Yeah, but a new Highlander, RX350, then Landcruiser/LX570, then 4Runner/GX570, will come out. Toyota rolls out new models as others get dated. Truck isn't even in full production, the CrewMax hasn't hit dealers yet. Youre going to need to wait a few months before drawing conclusions.
  2. the tundra had the TRD off-road package as well, no excuses. Toyota's offroad package doesn't affect gearing since it has the widest spread from the factory compared to anyone else's configurations. All 5.7L Tundras tow 10800lbs that's GMC's fault for not having the 6spd available now
  3. i highlighted why the dodge failed for you BREWSwillis VISIBILITY Huge roof supports, such as the C-pillar behind the rear seats of the Dodge Mega Cab, or the high sills and small windows in the rear of the Toyota Tundra, may obstruct your line of sight over the shoulder, but mirrors can make or break a vehicle in this category. The Dodge offers rectangular flip-up mirrors (with a built-in, nonadjustable convex spot) that are tucked in horizontally for everyday use, then rotate into an outboard vertical position for towing. And while they don’t extend out as much as some of the others, all of the testers liked them. TONGUE WEIGHT All of the trucks tested did a good job of holding up the boat’s 520 pounds of tongue weight. The Dodge Ram produced more sway and “light front end” moments than the others, however — more than one tester thought the boat pushed the Dodge around a bit. ENGINE PERFORMANCE The Dodge Ram received remarks such as “engine seemed strong, although towing acceleration was not as good as I had expected with all the hype about the Hemi,” and “decent towing power on flats and mild inclines, but not a great hill climber.” On steeper hills, the Dodge had trouble pulling the 6840-pound trailer boat any faster than 45 mph — but on flat stretches the Dodge would cruise at 55 mph without a lot of effort. Reviewers made comments such as, “good power, but bogged a little on hills,” and “good flatland performance, but when pulling hills, the truck stays in second gear at 3000 rpm and begins losing steam” when towing with the Ford F-150. Nontowing performance was aggressive, with strong midrange punch, although the engine was deemed a “tad noisy” and “not as smooth as some others TRANSMISSION Gear hunting was a common thread when reading through the test comments on the Dodge transmission. It shifted loudly and roughly when under a load, and the top three gears were all bound into the Drive position — which means that you can’t man-ually choose between fourth and third gear. A button on the end of the column-mount shifter toggles through OD lockout and Tow/Haul mode, but the OD lockout button only closes out fifth gear. RIDE AND HANDLING The Dodge Ram didn’t fare as well. The suspension was deemed “soft” nontowing, but one judge noted that jolts from freeway expansion joints “made yodeling easy.” Towing behavior was not favored either, gathering comments such as, “wallows” and “the rear end kicks out to the side after potholes or railroad tracks.” LAYOUT AND STYLING The Dodge Ram Mega Cab, of course, offers the roomiest cab in the group. The seats are good, but not great — more support and less stuffing would be our suggestion. The main instruments are large and easy to read, but the overall dash styling is somewhat dated in comparison to the rest of the group. Most judges deemed its sheet metal stylish, although some thought its looks were tame compared to the other trucks.
  4. let's see what I've posted in here lose http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=11473 http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=15351 http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...?showtopic=4540 win http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=13409 and the name's toyoguy to you, brew.
  5. Avalon has outsold the Lucerene for what 3months now. Where the "we suck again" comment at?
  6. G35 is a hit, Altima isn't as successful as first appeared
  7. http://www.trailerboats.com/output.cfm?id=1210051 We measured towing and nontowing performance, braking, and fuel mileage, and our six judges also evaluated each truck in city traffic, hill climbing, highway cruising and a variety of other towing and nontowing situations.
  8. looks are subjective, sales #'s will tell if the public agrees w/you and I doubt the sales chick cared.
  9. walking through a parking lot the other day I looked at a brand new Escalade EXT. Had more orange peel then any Toyota I've seen at the dealer. So fake wood and orange peel are acceptable in a $70k Escalade? the LX570/LX600 are due out next year, most likely recieves the same paint treatment as the LS460's robotic 3D buffing process. so when's Cadillac going to catch on?
  10. Not around where I live. I think sales goals are 250k, and that doesn't explain why a blue-collar Silverado owner pulled over to look at them, Must have heard the Tundra is built here in Texas.
  11. orange peel can easily be buffed out, the red silverado I saw the same day had a none of the depth or gloss of the red Tundra I ran into. Nope, and the dust storm began after I was already in for service.
  12. no, they point out the size of the brakes. and size of brakes has nothing to do w/one time stopping performance. You'll appreciate large area brakes under towing when the competitor's braking hardware has overheated. C&D is one magazine. Others data actually points that they are incorrect. the Crew Max Tundra in PM outstopped the unladen Silverado even w/1000lb ballast. It outbraked the Silverado in edmunds. It outbraked it's competitors on Toyota's website using an independant testing agency. And if I'm not mistaked it outbraked teh Silverado in TruckTrend.
  13. Ford Highs: Limo space back in the crew compartment, plush interior details, throne-like front bucket seats. Ford Lows: Shaky steering column, weak engine, torpid handling, heavy understeer when the going gets brisk. Verdict: Plush inside, not much load space behind: Think Passenger Truck. Ram Highs: Control-tower view from the seat, quick-reflex engine, clever paraphernalia places in the cab. Ram Lows: Need an elevator for boarding, quivery structure, Kmart-cheap interior plastic. Verdict: Exellent storage and tie-down details make this a trucker's truck. Tundra Highs: Major horsepower, supportive front buckets, slick slide-out mirrors, off-road chassis muscles. Tundra Lows: Front tow loops down in the mud, intrusive stability control, major understeer when you push. Verdict: The muscle truck - no bully will kick sand in this Tundra's face. Titan Highs: Snorty engine, quick steering, neutral balance in the twisties, perfectly damped tailgate hinges. Titan Lows: Squeaky-flexy over the rough stuff, exhaust roar never stops, jumpy throttle, short cargo bed. Verdict: A lovable puppy of a truck, fun despite its imperfections. Silverado Highs: Tightly responsive steering and brakes, rigid body structure, American-luxo interior styling, plush ride. Lows: Cheesy mirrors, low and vulnerable plastic spoiler, wind noise, cockpit storage bins lack imagination. Verdict: A sweet-driving pickup that's big on action, light on serious-hauler details. Final point tally: Silverado - 207 Titan - 199 Tundra - 193 Ram - 184 F-150 - 172
  14. yes it does. well then the author should have known Ford's own future estimates were below Toyota's existing US market share.
  15. I got my oil change this morning, saw a contractor in a Silverado pull into the dealer to gawk at the new Tundra. He was driving on the wrong side of the dealer's pavement for his inspection, nearly ran into me. By the time the sales floor opened there was a heavy dust storm outside so I couldn't check the Tundra out myself. on my way back home I drove alongside a red 5.7L Tundra. Had tow mirrors, and looks like an HD truck, big mofo. Superb paint finish, very pleasing in person. Judging from the pics, I earlier thought it wasn't that good looking, but now IMO it just replaced the F150 as best looking 1/2 ton. I doubt Toyota will have trouble selling them, I'd even bet Chrysler woes are about to take a turn for the worse.
  16. I don't post on other forums :AH-HA_wink: how old is this article?Ford is now #3 in the US. They won't take #2 again anytime soon. Honda builds a gas-guzzler? They don't even build a V8 engine.
  17. i think Ferrari charges $20k for brakes like those.
  18. http://i9.tinypic.com/2lu5d80.jpg http://i12.tinypic.com/2celp47.jpg the glove box one is hilarious, as Toyota showcased the Tundra months before the Sierra was unveiled. and the Tundra comes w/18in wheels standard
  19. tow haul mode doesn't explain how the Tundra handily out accelerates the Silverado as tested by trucktrend, edmunds, and popular mechanics. the fact that GMC bothered with the brochure tells me that customers are coming in comparing the two trucks and that the Tundra should have no trouble meeting sales expectations.
  20. they would be if lithium-ion battery technology were available now. I imagine that is a major reason Toyota is preparing to takeover Fuji Heavy.
  21. bout time, the J-series motors are weak south of 3500rpm.

  23. just as an FYI Toyota isn't using the same V6 engine or tranny in the new Highlander. Really, last I checked Toyota has been using electrolumincent recessed gauges, long before Honda.
  24. So Lexus is discontinuing the RX350?
