  5. There has been one Tundra and it is selling as Toyota originally planned. I stand by my statement. GM's managment no longer works in today's marketplace. They are completely self-regulating and refuse to be held accountable. Not only is GM's managment supposed to react to changing market conditions, they should also predict future changes. Both areas they have failed at consistently. These cashback fire sales used to clear out excess inventory only reinforce my point. Why were they dumping vehicles on dealers in 2004 and 2005? Is there any reason to inflate profits one quarter to lose money the next. Unfortunatley common sense isn't all that common at GM. Of course nobody will be replaced, the existing managment won't allow it, they'd rather see GM fail that accept responsibility for their negligence.

And I distinctly remember that jackass Lutz saying we are selling every GMT900 we can build, obviously we aren't. Fargo is right on the money, the managment at GM which worked in the old days is completely wrong in today's enviroment. It's time Lutz and GM's managment are held responsible for GM's failings, and I mean they need to be fired.
  7. the Sienna and Solara have been upgraded to the 3.5L V6 for 2007 MY. GM's still hasn't upgraded from 4spd trannies in many models, if GM doesn't develop the flexibility to compete soon they will knocked right over.
  8. Toyota combines low apr and cash rebates so they can lose money. That's how they lost $4billion last quarter. I don't know where you live but it's $1000 rebate in Houston. Volume is key to Toyota's plan of increasing profit margins from 8.9% to 10%.

  12. Have you driven any of the above cars? There are plenty of folks who'd prefer to own an LS600h over an M5, E63 or STS-V. I have yet to see a single STS-V on the road, so nobody who can afford one wants to own one. I see way more 750i's and S500's than M5's and E55's, indicating people with $100k to spend clearly prefer luxury over performance. And that's exactly the market Lexus is aiming for. $100k sport psuedo-luxury sedans are built for magazine editors, not the public. People who want high-performance cars buy them. That's why 911's and C6 Z06's sell and STS-V's and to a lesser extent M5's don't.

  14. None of them are anywhere near as quiet, offer the fuel economy or SULEV emissions rating. Of course the build quality of the above cars excluding the 7er are total garbage next to the LS. One's a premium flagship the others aren't even close.

  16. very nice, Honda will finally bring diesels to the US. Something the Germans have failed at, ironic considering they spared zero expense in attempting to convince Americans of diesel superiority compared to gasoline engines. Maybe MB should stick a bigger turbo on their bluetecs

  18. Nobody said that. Nobody is saying the Tundra will kill American trucks either. I don't know where people come up w/this. If anything is going to "kill" fullsize trucks its gas prices. btw, the Tundra has been increasing in sales even after the Titan's debut.
  19. Complaining about dead buttons, normal people could care less or even notice. You know people who are looking to purchase a vehicle. Odd that you have never complained about GM's universal HVAC modular unit. It ruins many GM interiors. It's ugly, made out of cheap plastic, and not the least bit user friendly. The new Tundra is built in the US, styled primarily in the US, recieves extensive engineering in the US, and has plently of marketing in the US. That covers managment engineering and manufacturing By dismissing the truck as Japanese, you're insulting every American who worked on the project.

And it's actually built in Texas, something that Texans will appreciate (w/their checkbooks). • The entire engineering development program was led by TTC engineering, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. • Tundra styling was initiated at Calty Design Center in Newport Beach, Calif. and finalized at the new Calty studio in Ann Arbor, Mich. • Tundra’s engines will be built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama in Huntsville, Ala., • and its transmissions at a Toyota supplier production facility in North Carolina. • Finally, the all-new Tundra will be manufactured at two U.S.-based full-size truck production facilities, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana in Princeton, Ind., and the new Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, located in San Antonio. btw, the never isn't the part of Toyota's vocabulary.
  21. why? the new Tundra long bed has the largest interior in its class, deepest box in its class. btw, here's what HVAC controls look like when your not trying to save a couple pennies on a $40k vehicle.

  24. The LS460 offers a high level of craftsmanship the Sclass offers none. There is zero attention given to the Sclass. And btw, autobild the LARGEST German auto publication picked the LS460 over the S550. That and I wasn't refering to the Sclass alone, the LS460 will put a hurt on Eclass sales the bulk of what little profit MB takes. Lexus estimates per yr: 30k units for the LS 24k units for the GS 40k units IS (already exceeded)
  25. I'm not disagreeing, the only thing that GM should be concerned w/is high gas prices. As far as the Tunda is concerned it has been increasing penetration since it debuted and is at some 7% market share now. I fully expect to see double that by 2008.
