  1. You mean your Mitsubishi dealerships are crappy too? The one closest to me look like a slightly renovated but still outdated liquor shop. Not a bad idea for Saturn. Perfect match for the new European engineered/styled vehicles. I always thought that Apple stores, with their neutral paint schemes, open and uncluttered floor design, and flat panel screens had a european flavor to them.
  2. You keep saying stuff like "brand X was bad back then but now it's good" for your argument and it's a completely valid statement. However, Chinese-built cars today really suck(for lack of a better word) in terms of quality and reliability and are really bad knock-offs of many Japanese, Korean, European, and American vehicles. That's far from being subjective. This is why so many people are having trouble believing this person (if it really is a real person) thinks they're superior when clearly those companies are blatantly copying the brands that she dislikes.
  3. Found this over at GMinsidenews. Looks 100x better then the current one. Class leading? Most definately not considering that it competes against Land Rover, but at least it looks like it won't have that cheap, hollow, grainy plastic that plagues the current H2.
  4. Don't laugh because they probably thought about using that interior. I have the real one here. It's a heavily modified version of the Dodge Nitro interior.
  5. I saw this on CNN this afternoon. Hoax Devices Part Of Cartoon Ad Campaign (WBZ) BOSTON The suspicious devices which forced bomb units to scramble across Boston today were actually magnetic lights that are part of a marketing campaign for a television cartoon. The reports forced the temporary shutdowns of Interstate 93 out of the city, a key inbound roadway, a bridge between Boston and Cambridge, and a portion of the Charles River but were quickly determined not to be explosive. "It's a hoax -- and it's not funny," Gov. Deval Patrick said. All of the devices are magnetic lights which resemble a character on the show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force", on Turner Broadcasting's Cartoon Network continue reading Suspicious Packages in Boston So, maybe these packages being found around Boston are not so suspicious to begin with (unless you don't have The Cartoon Network). Boston.com, CNN.com and lots of other news sites are reporting some suspicious packages around Boston right now. They thought they were possibly bombs because of where they were located. continue reading
  6. Looks like Pontiac has its old-school grille back along with a RWD sedan. Congrats GM on delivering on your promises. Looks good with these style changes. Obviously the new Holden and Pontiac design themes(excluding the Solstice) are close enough that it doesn't require too many changes to the look of the Commodore to make it look like a Pontiac.
  7. Hmm.. looks like crossover segment is really heating up though judging by Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep's recent production vehicles, it's safe to assume that exterior design will be, on a scale from 1 to 10, a 6. Interior design will be about 5 or 6, while interior quality will be about 4. GM doesn't need to worry since this looks to be a bit smaller then the Lambda CUVs. Toyota never has to worry about anything since their products are always perfect. If anything, Ford has the most to lose especially since the Edge is a completely new vehicle and it's design doesn't fit everybody's taste: In other words.. it's not bland enough.
  8. I doubt this actually happened. I'll believe that the Pilot is inferior when I see it at the upcoming autoshow.
  9. Yeah, I think Turbocharging is gaining ground in GM at the moment.
  10. Is anyone really surprised? No, I'm not saying this was a bad SUV. It was actually pretty good but it didn't have any standout features to set it apart from its competitors in a very crowded and declining segment. On top of that, it was a brand new model with a name unfamiliar to most. You're always going to have to play catch-up when you debut a new model. Jeep just couldn't find a way how to in time. It's hardly a blunder when you consider the Compass.
  11. The beginning of the end for Consumer reports. Well, I may be exaggerating, but it will definately tarnish their name for quite some time. Funny thing about this, they sourced it out to another testing facility and are trying to blame it on them. Hey, it's not their fault you don't check your facts CR! It's too late though. The public has heard enough and Consumer Reports had its name plastered all over the news.
  12. Nice but they could've used a few less GM parts in the exterior. Why not borrow the smart stalks from the new CTS? Those look different enough and they'll be available before the time this car probably hits the market.
  13. That's too bad about the interior. I'm sure it's very high quality and uses some of the finest materials in the industry. Unfortunately, the design doesn't reflect that. It looks like it belongs in a much cheaper vehicle and definately not a Mercedes. The exterior is pretty stylish for the class. I like the new direction for Mercedes styling even if it might be a bit too conservative for some. For those who have yet to see the new S-class in person, I highly recommend it. It looks so good. It's reserved yet sophisticated all at the same time. This follows that design theme and I'm sure it will look just as good on the road. I do agree on the back though. Could've used a little bit more work. Yet, so does the new CTS but the rest of the vehicle is so good, it's a relatively small issue in my book. Also, I don't think you can really compare this and the CTS together since this is more around the size of the 3-series or the IS and there is still a bit of confusion on whether or not GM is still positioning this vehicle as a 3-series fighter.
  14. Damn. I was going to use the Scott Baio quote too. Damn my higher education getting in the way!!!!
  15. Great news for this area. Looks like GM will be staying around for a little while considering the amount of money they put into the Tonawanda plant. Now, if GM modified the workers comp laws, gave more tax breaks, etc., they'll be here for a long time.
  16. Ugh.. No thank you. From that angle that lincoln concept has huge front and rear overhangs and please, with Lincolns current state, a vehicle like this is about 8-10 years away from fruition. Hell, it took two generations of the CTS for Cadillac to really get it right. Kudos for Ford for really trying so I doubt they'll try to make Lincoln a global brand and give it competitive vehicles to compete with the likes of BMW, Mercedes,Lexus, and eventually Cadillac. Why would they? They already have a global luxury car line that looks to be on the upswing especially with the Detroit autoshow.
  17. No. I understand. The chart doesn't give a specific age range for adults though. AIDS in Africa has been around longer then most of us on this board and a lot of us are now considered adults. So I think that while a chunk of people on this chart could've recieved this through sexual intercourse, you can expect a lot more received it through childbirth. Also.. again regarding the comment that sciguy had made declaring he had no sympathy to people with AIDS, I'm still in disagreement with that since the majority of people in Africa including adults clearly don't have the proper education nor the means to recieve information on how to prevent from getting AIDS. I think that blanket statement is still unfair in regards to people living in third world, or to be more politically correct, "developing" countries. Though, he's still entitled to have that opinion.
  18. The interior looks even better with the nav screen up and the power on. Looks really sharp. I can't wait for Top Gear to test it. I'll laugh at Jeremy Clarkson as he finds the smallest problems with the vehicle and then bashes the hell out of it simply because it's American.
  19. I think the main reason for this possible purchase of Proton is simply to expand it's production capacities in cheap countries and therefore reduce costs in the long run. Proton clearly has no real value in production expertise to GM that Daewoo doesn't already have. The deal is that South Korea is no longer the low cost manufacturing country it used to be and GM may be doing what the Japanese and Korean manufacturers have been doing for years know; aquiring, building facilities in countries that have much lower costs. Those counties include Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Burma, etc. China is also no longer going to be an option seeing how fast the economy is growing. Eventually, workers will demand higher wages...and they are already. What we might see come from this is GMDaewoo vehicles being built in Proton factories alongside Proton vehicles which will prove to be even more cost efficient for GM. It's much cheaper then having to build all new plants. All they'll have to do is retool them. Proton in return will receive much needed expertise from GM and GMDaewoo to help improve its quality and efficiency. This won't be full takeover for now but eventually, you'll see GM aquire the rest of the company when it tries to push more of it's global brands into southeast Asia.
  20. haha. Good one. I'm reminded of this.
  21. It's oval because the cladding on the car is shaped like that. You can already tell that the grill design will be different just from the new verticle slots. To be honest, I'm not expecting much from this vehicle. The sooner it's replaced with the Epsilon II model, the better.
  22. I really like the current G35 coupe. This appears to be just as evolutionary as the new sedan model and that's alright with me. Why mess with success? GM is playing by the same rules with the new CTS as well.
  23. It will probably be here around the same time everyone else in the world will be receiving it now that it's part of the North American lineup and important to Hondas future in the US and Canada.
  24. Looks amazing. Too bad it's Cingular exclusive. They probably would've cleaned house if they went with Verizon which has some of the best service nationwide. Either that or Sprint since that's my carrier. Well, I'm not tooo excited since I just got my brand new 30G iPod for christmas this year and I'm not a huge phone addict so it serves my needs just find.
  25. Building off of OCNs post, we should be sympathetic towards the children in Africa with AIDS/HIV because their parents give it to the children then die leaving them as orphans. It's a huge problem and if you look at statistics, I'm sure you'll find that the majority of people with AIDS are children and adolescents. Oh.. and I'm sure the numbers in China are highly skewed since the government is known to fudge with the numbers in order for it to appear that there is not much of a problem. Also, they probably only take the rankings of people in the cities by the coast. They most likely left out hundreds of millions of peasants who live inland.
