  1. I think the Tahoe will be more popular then the Escalade in the hip-hop community. It looks a lot more intimidating. The rims are niice.
  2. Did I single you out? No. I wasn't even talking about you.
  3. In response to this, the entire state of California just renamed itself Toyota Planet.
  4. Not a fan of the old one. Still not a fan of the new one. This is one car I can't wait for GM to kill. I just wish it wasn't so popular with the NASCAR fans.
  5. Much better. Finally looks like a Land Rover! Ford has done a good job taking the torch from BMW. The LR3 and this are huge improvements over the previous models. The Range Rover sport is really hot too. Too bad Ford can't make it's North American brands shine too.
  6. What I want to know is why are there so many GM haters here? If you don't like GM cars and trucks or think they're inferior to the almighty HONDA RIDGELINE : THE KING OF ALL TRUCKS!!!!, why waste your time? You're just going to keep getting foreign bashers no matter what you post. Are you really that surprised?
  7. I noticed Walt had been hanging around much less over at Autoblog in recent months and now they're no longer on the front page. Is there something we should know about? If there was a falling out, I'm not entirely surprised. There was a lot of anti-GM articles and bloggers over there that it felt like I was at Autoweek.
  8. Not a truck. It's a minivan with a truck bed. It's obvious that you've never driven an American car before let alone a truck. GM's trucks, Ford's trucks, and Dodge's trucks are all RWD allowing for a tight turning radius. I get to drive a Tahoe everyday and it turns on a dime. Ridgeline on the other hand, is FWD because it's based off the Honda Oddessy and turns like a giant FWD vehicle would: Horribly. It severely lacks in towing capacity due to the fact that it doesn't have a V8 and the fact that the platform isn't durable enough. You can't do serious offroading on it either. Finally, you'd think that with it having a V6 engine(it's only engine), it would get more way more milage when comparing it to the Silverado truck. WRONG. Straight from Honda's website: 5-Speed Automatic (City/Highway) 16 / 21 Straight from GM's website: 1500 models with Vortec 4300 V6 2WD 4-speed automatic 16/211 2WD 5-speed manual 16/22 4x4 4-speed automatic 15/181 4x4 5-speed manual 15/20 1500 models with Vortec 4800 V8 2WD 4-speed automatic 16/21 2WD 5-speed manual 16/21 4x4 4-speed automatic 15/19 4x4 5-speed manual 15/19 1500 models with Vortec 5300 V8 2WD 4-speed automatic 16/21 4x4 4-speed automatic 15/19 1500 Vortec Max 6000 V8 2WD 4-speed automatic 14/19 4x4 4-speed automatic 14/17 How is that possible? These trucks are bigger, have V8s as options and yet...their gas mileage is a lower by a couple of miles. You know why? Because the Ridgeline is underpowered. .... and it's ugly as sin. Really weird too. Toyota and Nissan have ACTUAL pickup trucks and Honda doesn't. You'd think you'd pick them to compare with domestic trucks but instead you pick this vehicle. Weird. And I'm through.
  9. At first I didn't like the back end treatment but it looks better in these pictures. I think this is a good update to an already good vehicle. I just wish GM would devote a little more money into the brand and give the 9-5 an AWD platform to sit on. I think it would really make the car shine.
  10. I saw a new Accord driving in the opposite direction and from a distance; it kind of reminded me of the new Civic. You would think Honda would substantially updated it like they did with the Odyssey but I guess they don't care about their bread and butter sedans anymore.
  11. He's just saying what all the other Lutz bashers are saying. It's so easy to blame one person instead of the company for all the faults GM has to this day. He never made promises that I can recall that said he would turn huge profits for GM almost immediately. He's finally allowing more design to come into the brand, even though some of the design might be a little outdated. Let me say this: do you think GM would ever build cars like the HHR, Solstice, Sky, the new GMT900 SUVs and the rest of the cars with attractive styling and with higher quality interiors if Lutz wasn't there? Hell no! On the rate GM was going, we'd still be getting interiors like the G6 or the CTS and getting designs like the Pontiac REV concept. He's focusing on the most important part of the vehicles first. Getting GM designers to focus on the inside as well as the outside of their vehicles. Like it or not, GM is far better with Lutz then without him.
  12. I agree in saying it would hurt GM to have to move their two strongest brands and it's only import brand in the luxury section of the hall because the rest of the cars from GM aren't that great in comparison.
  13. It's nice to get someone respond that's actually experienced the Vectra interior up-close. I have a question for you. Which do you like more: The Vectra's interior or the Aura's proposed interior?
  14. While the Vectra interior is more upscale, I can't say that I like it's design. It looks too busy.
  15. It doesn't even have to be metal. If they could pull off a faux aluminum finish on the plastic then I would be happy.
  16. I really wish that GM would start tell it's suppliers to change the color of the Radio and HVAC controls to match the color schemes of the interiors. It's a major gripe I have. They did it on the Cobalt but they can't do it on a mid-$20,000 to mid-$30,000 car? This is the same with the new Escalade. The only real gripe I have with the new Escalade is that the whole center console has this cheap looking black plastic radio that looks like it was jammed in there at the last second. If they at could at least put a coat of paint on the radios, the appearance of the interiors would be much more inviting.
  17. How sad. They should give people IQ tests before selling nice cars like the Solstice.
  18. I thought this was going to be a mild hybrid. I guess GM decided to go with a full-blown one. I'm sort of indifferent to hybrids. On one hand, they give a little bit better fuel economy but on the other hand, they are just marketing gimmicks that will die off in about 10 years when alternative fuels come into play.
  19. Right. Keep telling that to yourself. The Navigator's interior "looks" nicer. Well, to you at least. If you're into 1970s silver painted retro dash design and cheapo radio controls that you have to get to by lifting a useless plastic flap, then I guess it's the car for you. I'll take the Escalade because it looks good to me and I know that bumping up against the dash won't leave a huge scar in the paint.
  20. I just don't get it. Why are they making the new Toyota cars look like new Lexus cars? Don't they want the brands to look different from eachother?
  21. There is no way in hell Pontiac would sell this for 40k. They're not that stupid. Come on people! Think about it before posting!
  22. This is going to really hurt Ford's chances with the new Expedition and extended model. Looks like Chevy will retain best in class for the large SUVs under $50,000 for a nother few years.
  23. I was really looking for Saab to build a kappa based two door wagon as a replacement for the 9-2x in the spirit of the nomad concept.
  24. Well, with the Buick, Pontiac, and GMC brands merging into one dealership in the near future, there's no longer a need for a full-line of cars and trucks. Having so many vehicles for each brand will cause a lot of buyer confusion. My Predictions mixed with Fact: The Rainier and Terraza will be gone soon leaving Buick with 3 vehicles to focus on rather then 7. I find that to be more promising since each vehicle will have more money devoted to it and hopefully, higher quality and style. Also, expect Pontiac to be cut back to just sporty, affordable cars. We already know the bonnie is dead as well as the Sunfire. Though, I think we can expect the Grand Prix saying bye bye or at least moving to a RWD platform( hoping for Zeta to save the day) I can't wait for the Torrent to go. The Vibe will stay but I don't think Toyota and GM will continue to share the NUMMI plant for much longer. There is no need for it on both sides. It might very well move to the delta platform. GMC.. well, that's tricky. I have no idea on what GM will do with GMC. They have no clear plan with that brand in my opinion. I was thinking they'd keep this brand as the only Body on Frame SUV brand and then slowly phase out the SUVs over a long period of time but now that it's getting a crossover, I have no clue.
  25. Believe it or not, I’ve noticed this for a while now. It’s certainly not a new opinion of mine. This is the perfect example on what the members are becoming on C&G. Pessimistic about everything that GM pumps out and making predictions of failure based on nothing but your opinion. Nitpick at every small insignificant detail. That's not being a critic, that's being self-centered. Just because you don’t like it’s look automatically means it’s crap. Fine, keep that opinion but don’t go around preaching it and scoff at anyone who doesn’t agree with you. GM isn't perfect but it has come a long way. You cannot deny that. So wait, where is that optimism? It's been sucked out by the automotive press who have been bombarding everyone with stories of GM falling from grace and how the Big 2 are doomed for all eternity. Okay. We get it. Now let them regroup. But no, they've got to keep twisting the knife and scare away shareholders. I'm not saying that GM isn't responsible but there clearly is more negative press then there needs to be. But that's me going into one of my rants. Back to you... It's either your way or the highway. Right? You can say whatever you want and you can comment on whatever I say but you have no idea what the Escalade looks like in person and you're already going off on how GM doesn't know what they're doing and that Lutz is an old fart, etc... I will agree with you on how GM is still making big mistakes, but the Escalade is the best effort from GM the Cadillac brand in years. It doesn't have to rely on gimmicky styling like the current Escalade had to. It's finally a true Luxury SUV and it's aimed at current luxury buyers who don't really care for the A&S theme. This is what this car is meant for. Conquest sales. It's not for enthusiasts who think they know what's best for the brand. There aren't enough out there to make this vehicle to be profitable contrary to what you believe. That being said. The Escalade is clearly a Cadillac. It may look like another bad rebadge to you, but it's more Cadillac then what the GMT800 ever was. If you can't see it, then I don't know what to tell you. That's your OPINION. You’re right. They didn’t. They bought it because it was popular. See the Prius? Ugly car, slightly above average gas mileage in real driving conditions, but it’s still selling because everyone else and their sister is buying one. Most people aren’t really buying it for the gas mileage. They’re buying it because the want to buy everything the celebrities buy. Yeah.. I don’t know why you’d think that just because I agree with Ah-ha means I’m trying to act all-knowing and powerful. That’s your job… right? Whatever issues you have with Ah-ha, take it up with him and not me. I’m really surprised with you FOG. You seemed to have jumped on the anti-Lutz bandwagon too. Not surprising. Everyone’s taking a shot at him lately since apparently he wants to make GM fail.
