This is exactly what is wrong with GM management. They build one vehicle for three different brands, give it minor to moderate sheet metal changes and then over saturate the market with budget convertibles that no one really asked for in the first place. Having said that, it's not bad having a lot of good thing but for GM, it's a horrible move when they're desperately trying to regain market share and credibility car buyers. They did this for decades; they are doing it with the GMT900s, the Lambda SUVs, the GMT360s, the Epsilon vehicles, the Theta SUVs, the large FWD cars, and now the Kappa platform. They just do not get it. Wagoner needs to go bye-bye. GM needs to start from square one and stop offering derivative vehicles and start delivering on its promises on separating the brands.

I read the Pontiac concept will be a "retro-themed" heritage high- roof wagon based on the delta platform which will share a significant amount of sheetmetal with an unidentified chevrolet currently being sold. I wonder what it could be? Hahaha.. Just kidding... It's funny to think that GM would've actually thought of doing that several years ago.

Ditch the yellow and I think we'd have next year's car of the year.

I love Porsche. If I had the money, I'd buy one without hesitation and I belong to a GM family. That's how much I love those cars.
-
Are they trying to get a lawsuit from Rolls? I hope they're intending this only for concept because they'll lose in a heartbeat. Nice vehicle though. Very clean.

Programs like Podutil and JHymn convert M4P files to MP3 files. My sister was using it with her old MP3 player before she got an iPod this past christmas. The programs are free though with PodUtil, it keeps bothering you to sign up for a paid membership. It's unfair that iTunes is only compatable with apple products but that's how they get you to buy their stuff. I suggest you google converting M4P files to MP3 files and see what works for you. I just got a $50 itunes card too. I'm already down to $37 in just 4 days. I love my mini though. I don't need to upgrade to the nano because mine fits my needs perfectly. If you're on the fence weither or not to switch over to apple, I'd strongly support the switch. It's just that much nicer.

I think the ULS is still coming out by the end of the decade with a V12 option though there were some setbacks due to the recent budget crunch at GM. The CTC will come out after the next-gen CTS but when.. remains to be seen. When you think about it.. after the new Escalade comes out, there won't be anything new coming from Cadillac for a little while. ETC... probably not for a while.

Jeep is definately starting to really fell the pressure and defend it's territory. Now that Hummer has the H3 and a future HX and Toyota has the FJ cruiser, DCX is realising that the battle over sales is going to get very ugly in the next few years. Though, I'm not sure having a car-based Jeep is a wise idea. It might scare a lot of loyal customers away.

If I'm not mistaken, the new DTS has white LED reverse lights. I was in back of one at night and they were blinding. I think more cars should use them because not only do they last longer but they allow designers to create more attractive rear light patterns and give a car a little bit more individuality.

Of course this wouldn't be a thread without a highly innappropriate post from Ocn! Makes you feel all warm in fuzzy inside huh? :P

The lesson. Build hot looking cars and quality won't be as big as an issue. Notice how they didn't mention cheapo plastic or lack of trunk space for the solstice?

Why would GM add more horsepower to the Cobalt when the Ion replacement will have more? Great video. I can't believe that it's faster then the CTS-V on the track. That's probably because the guys have trouble driving with the steering wheel on the left. Still, that's extremely impressive. Saturn needs this vehicle as is. No cobalt in Opel/Vauxhall clothing. This is the real deal.
-
Well, this guy tends to be more of a detroit fan(absolutely nothing wrong with that) but with the rest of the auto media, these vehicles will never see car and truck of the year awards.
-
I didn't even know it existed until now. GM needs to do more then have clever marketing. They need product that people want.

Same here Croc. I don't want to embarrass my family. On top of that, I'm hideously ugly. Like Quasimodo ugly.

This Toyota/GM partnership has been around since the 80s. With the original Corolla and the 1985 Chevy Nova and the Geo Prizm. It was originally meant to give GM an idea on how to make well-built vehicles and for Toyota to have a factory in the US without paying for all of it. This isn't anything new. The Vibe/Matrix is a continuation of this partnership.
-
Well.. other then what you know, there isn't a lot of news on the Vibe/Matrix. You probably know that both are based on the current generation Corolla platform. The new Corolla should be coming out within a year or so and it will grow in size and will offer what looks to be a five-door variant. The Matrix is essentially a Corolla five-door already so I think we can expect the next model to grow in size and offer more distinct styling and features. Therefore..I'm assuming the Vibe will grow in size also. Which makes the Torrent seem more useless to the brand then it already is. I think that the GM/Toyota partnership will end a few years or so. Neither of the brands benefit from it anymore. This will force GM to create a Vibe of it's own based on the Delta platform. Maybe then you'll get the Turbo ecotec. But it might be a while before we see that happening.

Well, I get to visit Canada occasionaly and really enjoy it when I go to Toronto. It's where everything happens. I'm amazed at how much construction and growth there is when driving up there and at the same time disgusted that Buffalo, a city that's been around a lot longer is in the crapper and continues to fade away into oblivion because all the politicians and "old-money" don't like progress because it takes away their power. Greed, Unions(not UAW), and NYS taxes have turned this city into ruins. Canada (specifically southern Ontario) Rocks! If the taxes weren't so high, I'd live there in a heartbeat. Canadians are cool. My neighbors are Canadian, I went to school with a bunch of ex-canucks. Nothing different about them with the exception of the accent. Funny how much of a difference there is when you cross the border. I'd really like to visit Vancouver BC someday. It sounds like a very beautiful city.

GM Chief Envisions Stronger Saturn-Opel Ties
Cadillacfan replied to stickmax's topic in Heritage Marques
That will probably happen. Though, how many Europeans will buy a vehicle made in America? They're very picky about where their cars are built. Right now, American cars are just as s&@*y as any car coming out of France while German and British cars are superior...even though the opposite is true. -
What I meant was the best of the GM full size. It definately wasn't the best out of all of the full size. Sorry for the mix-up.
-
When the H2 first came out, it's interior was the best of the Full size SUVs mostly because it was a completely different design and looked much more upscale. Quality was about the same. Now that the new SUVs have surpassed the H2 with their interiors, I think we can expect a much more luxurious (probably land rover territory) interior. What GM really needs to do is shave off a few hundred pounds to make the car a little more fuel efficient. The new Hybrid drivetrain wouldn't hurt either. It might even surprise a lot of the Hummer haters.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting in a new STS which has the same radio and HVAC controls as the Escalade. The HVAC knobs have a very high-quality feel to them. I'm neither for or against having chrome.

Would you rather have them just stop building it and lose more sales to Toyota, Honda, Kia, and Hyundai? I think if you look at the competition, this car is the most attractive in it's class. Lutz shouldn't retire. He should be rewarded for trying to make GM competitive again. Why is it wrong for a company to build a car for a person who isn't as fortunate as you? I don't know you but from that statement alone, it sounds like you need to take a look at the world around you and see that not everyone can afford a cobalt or a corolla. Or that some people who can afford one prefer having a small car because they live in a city with limited parking, etc. Remember: When a car is really cheap but has a lot to offer, young people will always buy it. It's not always about style.
-
Don't worry. With the right amount of money, Toyota can get some journalists to find something wrong with the Ion replacement.

So did I. I don't know who to believe anymore!!
