I was refering to the "newer" lexus vehicles. Like, the vehicles made after Toyota's announcement to sell Lexus in Japan. Those vehicles include the GS, the IS, and the new LS. The other vehicles just a tarted up Toyotas. By the way, I believe the GX doesn't share too much with the 4Runner other then the platform and some other under-the-skin details. Oh yeah... that's a piece of crap. I don't care how long they've been building it. It's not worth more then the Land Cruiser no matter how different they make the headlights look and how "upgraded the interior is" They're just as bad as the domestics with badge engineering.

I'm waiting for the day when they start complaining about the Zeta Impala before it even hits showrooms. I am serious. Just you wait and see. They will find something wrong with it. The Editor in Chief at The New York Times must really be in his "Destroy GM" mode to print a commentary calling for GM's demise and a biased auto review that finds more problems with the company and all in the same week! If I did not see that this was a NYT article, I could have sworn that I was reading a Toyota Camry advertisement. The Impala has a lot of problems but the article doesn’t emphasizes how far the car has improved from the last generation or that it will be moving to an all new RWD/AWD platform by the end of the decade to set it apart further from the Malibu. Instead, we hear about how GM was focusing too much on SUVs (EVIL!!!) and trucks (REALLY EVIL!) and ignoring the fact that Toyota is starting to do the exact same thing. Of course I’m exaggerating but I’m sure I’m not to far from the truth.

I think some people are forgetting that when you raise the gas tax and charge people $5 or more, it's going to hurt a lot of small businesses that rely on large trucks/SUVs. Thus, the economy will take a nosedive while small businesses scramble to find alternatives for transportation. The reason why small businesses in Europe haven't suffered with higher fuel costs is because gasolene and other fuels have been taxed for decades and busses, light/industrial rail are the dominant sources of transport. The U.S. and Canada built up public roads and highways and focused less on city and national railroads. It will take years for the governments to build up the public transportation system to meet the needs of their citizens and environmentalist groups & congress should allow them enough time before demanding higher fuel prices to keep the economy from tanking. What do you want? The air to be cleaner or a recession?

It won't be out for a while. They wanted to upgrade pretty soon.

I see someone else was watching "As Good as It Gets" this weekend.

To be honest.. I wouldn't recommend the Cavalier. My brother had one and it certainly lasted a long time but it's just not a safe car at all. If you can find a similarly priced alternative that you can modify yourself.. I think that would be the better choice.

I'll still take the 3-series. It had decades of German fine-tuning behind it while the IS still has a little bit more to go and it looks like a Grand Prix... ouch. Now, the G35 is a surprisingly good first try from the folks at Nissan and is on par with the last gen 3-series in terms of driving dynamics.

I doubt this is the pre-production model. The interior probably has all the working equipment in order for either the stuntmen to drive or for interior shots of the car in motion. Though.. who knows. By the time this movie comes out, the new Camaro may be on it's way to showrooms and this is just one giant product placement for the car. Much like the CTS in the second Matrix movie. It wasn't even introduced to the public yet when they started filming that chase scene.

Thomas Friedman:GM Most Destructive Company In USA
Cadillacfan replied to Shantanu's topic in General Motors
Liberal or conservative.. doesn't matter. This guy is a whacko and needs to keep his mouth shut so people won't know how crazy he is. I'm all for freedom of speech but when you attack one company for the faults of the entire automobile industry.. it's obvious you have some brain cells missing my friend. -
I think it would be funny if they continue to not realize that they were gay. Kind of like the ambiguously gay duo. "What's everybody looking at?" "NOTHING!"

If she were like Anne Heche.. she'd like the Hot Dog in the Taco.
-
No she wouldn't. She only does that to other women. :ohyeah:
-
Well.. the rest could use a style tweak here or there to keep it looking current.. but you're right. If you exclude the interior.. the SRX is one of the best vehicles in it's segment.

SWEET! I can't wait!! new cadillac-exclusive premium key-fob! ooooooooh!

Wow. Now it's getting bad. Some people in the media will do anything to see GM fail just because they don't agree with what they sell. In doing so, they believe that the people who read their crap articles are dumb enough to actually believe what they are reading. Hey, some are but others see that Hybrid cars are a gimmick and not SUVs. People know that when they buy a Tahoe or an Expedition that the fuel mileage will be poor. Yet, with cars like the Prius and the Honda Civic Hybrid, they believe that they will be getting well over 60 mpg and save the environment. WRONG! If they want to save the environment, they'd buy an E85 vehicle, drive an electric car, or wait for Hydrogen fuel cells. Speaking of which, has anyone noticed that ever since GM started promoting E85 and its investment in Hydrogen fuel cells, journalists in the media are now "questioning" whether or not they are practical options? I have in recent months. Also, has anyone else seen the trailers for the new movie "who killed the electric car?" It's mostly about GM's EV1 project that was ended due to lack of popularity. From the trailer, it appears that GM ended it because they wanted to build gas guzzling SUVs and that they were in cahoots with big oil. It also completely ignores the fact that GM was one of the first companies that even attempted a mass-market electric vehicle. Interesting.

He is not that talented. I did like him on SNL but when he went away, I do not think too many people noticed including me. Only had one or two funny impersonations going on but that is about it. On top of that, he has made some bad career decisions after he left (including some stupid movies and sitcoms) and what little fan base he had gained from his brief stint on SNL withered away.

Well, I did have a chance to sit in the new DTS and STS interiors and while the DTS has higher quality materials, I found the STS to be more attractive in presentation mostly because it does not look like any other GM interior. I can do without the giant black center HVAC controls but all the gadgets that come in the vehicle make up for its shortcomings. The CTS has an interior that is just shameful to look at but I love the vehicle overall. ------- Some friends of the family were looking into getting a new SUV. Their current vehicle is a Lexus RX330 but they have a little girl now and were looking to upgrade in size. They were interested in the Caddy SRX (a rarity in southern california) because they liked its size and looks and the fact that they would get a great deal with GM’s friends and family discount with the help of my father who is employed by the company. Being one of the few people in my family who knows anything about cars, they came to me for advice about the vehicle (don’t laugh) I warned them before they tested it that the interior would be a significant step down from their Lexus and sure enough, it was. It seemed terribly cheap for them considering the price of the vehicle. They are now looking for another, similar vehicle. Now, they liked the ride and all the features but the interior was so bad that they didn’t want to spend that much money on it when other vehicles in the same class offer so much more. I did mention that the vehicle was getting a significant upgrade in a year or so but they needed a new vehicle now. That's pretty sad.
-
Take a look at the newer Lexus vehicles. They aren't rebadged Toyotas anymore with the exception of the ES and RX.
-
The emergency break is in a weird place but the interior looks really attractive and high quality. Makes me wish GMNA had interiors that look like this. Guess we'll just have to keep waiting.

Read what I posted one more time.... carefully. I didn't say the 9-2x or the 9-7x were good but the fact that GM actually gave the brand those models shows that they want to flesh out the brand to more then just two models with multiple variants. I hate badge engineering take a look at my past posts on the Pontiac G5 and Torrent. The 9-2x is an absolute joke. The 9-7x show a bit more effort on GM's part but is way to close to the Trailblazer in order to be taken seriously. GM should have started pumping more money into the brand years ago but because the company is hemorrhaging, it is easy to understand why they used these quick-fix models in the first place. Saying that the Theta crossover, and the Epsilon II platform (which will be used for the next 9-3, 9-5, and other rumored Saab vehicles) is not enough to help the brand is really pushing it. I can understand why you are upset but seriously.. just wait for the new models.

Well, I was just in SoCal last week. Santa Monica to be precise and the weather wasn't that great. Cloudy and cool most of the time thanks to the Marine layer. Fortunately, a day in the valley provided a nice vacation from the "May grey" Who am I kidding. The weather down there was spectacular most of the time. I MUST LIVE THERE! Oh.. and it's going to be 90 here tomorrow and I'll be cranking up the AC all day baby!
-
Come on! You seriously believe this? If GM didn't care, then they wouldn't be devoting millions of dollars in capital to the brand at all (refreshed 9-5, 9-3, 9-2x, 9-7x, 9-3 sportcombi, and all the concepts) All of these things cost a lot of money. Yeah, the results are far from desirable but that fact that GM is doing something to help bring the brand into new territories shows that someone cares. The brand has actually increased in sales due to new models. The 9-7x may be just a swedish trailblazer but it's had strong sales. The 9-3 sportcombi is all new and all Saab. It also happens to look pretty good on the road. If you actually paid attention to what is going on, then you'd see that Saab is not doomed at all. In fact, Saab is on the verge of a renaissance. The FWD/AWD Epsilon II platform will be key to the brand's future and there is a premium theta based crossover in the works that looks very promising. So let's quit the doom and gloom and see that even though the new Saabs may look ho-hum, the next generation models will be spectacular because GM is actually putting a good effort into it. Oh.. and did anyone else notice that the nobs on the radio look a little different? Look closely. You'd see that they have a more premium appearance.

First Pre-Production '07 Saturn Outlook Rolls Out
Cadillacfan replied to BigPontiac's topic in Heritage Marques
I honestly think you should reserve your judgement until you see it in person. If you have...then nevermind. -
My God! I think you should start taking the metro bus or a commuter train.. if you even live near one. You and driving don't go well together. Not that it's all your fault.. but you are one un-lucky sonofabitch! Seriously though, I hope your insurance isn't sky high and it's good that you aren't injured physically.

I witnessed an entire family of ducks get decimated by a 18-wheeler on a busy highway last year. It made me sick to my stomach.
