Retractable spoiler? Sounds like that could be the "special" thing especially when you see how Porsche and Bugatti use that tech to keep the car from coming off the ground. If this is truly the case, I would expect different rear sheetmetal since it doesn't appear to be workable with the current body type.

Entry Level: GM Product Guru Hints at New Cadillac
Cadillacfan replied to BigPontiac's topic in Cadillac
Sounds like a good idea. GM has to start from scratch with Cadillac in Europe. Start off small and introduce the bigger models after you get enough customers. Holden developing this? Obviously this could be the basis for the upcoming Torrana production model... if true. This vehicle better be outstanding if it wants to compete at all in Europe but if Holden is giving a lot of input, I think it's in good hands. -
WE HAVE SNOW IN ONTARIO!!!!!!!!!!
Cadillacfan replied to american_revolution_2005's topic in The Lounge
In case anybody was wondering, I'm still alive over here. Power just came back on but this storm delayed my flight to LA so I could go to my sister's wedding. They later cancelled it but now I'm flying out of Rochester so it's not a total loss. -
I highly doubt they'll give each brand their own platforms with the exception of Cadillac. From what I understand, they will still share platforms but will eventually get more freedom over design(interior/exterior), and type of vehicles offered. Though, I doubt that won't happen for a little while, more autonomous marketing decisions is an important first step for this to happen. Even if the brands get product freedom, GM would still have control over preventing brand overlap.

The reason why this is such a big issue is because Toyota is known for having industry leading product cycles that only span 5 years or less, and very short product development time for most of its vehicles. Now that the Corolla is taking such a long time to develop, this puts a ding in Toyota's armor and can cause investors to question the management's outlook for the future. Toyota's being very careful with the new Corolla. The compact segment is not the same as it was when the current generation Corolla hit the market. There are more automakers re-entering in the market with highly competitive vehicles and it appears that Toyota wasn't sure on how to approach the segment and have the Corolla stick out with so many highly competitive vehicles taking the spotlight. GM should really take advantage of this with the Cobalt refresh and the Saturn Astra. All they need to do is pile on the options and price them competitively and advertise the hell out of them when the Corolla comes out.

Have you tried saving it under a different format? Try .JPEG if you haven't already. That usually helps for me on other boards. Though, I'm sure you've already tried that long ago.

York is Resigning GM Board - Kirk not buying more
Cadillacfan replied to bdubsee's topic in General Motors
Does this mean Buickman will have to wait longer for Rick to leave? Aww. I feel so bad for him. Well, at least he has a large support group over at GMI. Everyone knows that Kerkorian was only hoping to profit off of the merger and then leave. He was the one who initiated it in the first place. He couldn't have cared less about GMs future and his backing out just gives us proof of his true intentions. Now, he has his lapdog York badmouthing the board and Wagoner to the press hoping people will think twice about buying stock. They're doing this because thier pride was hurt. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. -
Oh.. you mean you won't buy Saturn because it's going to sell a foreign car made to appeal to the North American market by an American company and go to the same Chrysler that's owned by a foreign company and uses foreign platforms/components? Right... makes a lot of sense. I'm all for the Corsa. If GM has the means to bring a competitive B-class vehicle to the North American market, then they should. They're not going to sit on their a$$es and let the market pass by them because they don't want to "upset" anyone. We all know what happened when they did that before.
-
I'm sure that's why Cadillac didn't replace the Deville yet with a totally new car. They were waiting for Zeta. Sigma is already used for three different models and was already stretched for the STS and SRX. So, they did the only thing they could do. Make the current large Cadillac better. Just wait. I'm sure we'll hear an announcment on a new large RWD caddy by the end of the decade.

Would you prefer lutz say: "These SUVs are good but they're not doing very well because of the shift in the demand.. so let's not get our hopes up. In fact, just ignore these SUVs altogether."
-
I want to see what visual changes they're going to make to differentiate it a little more from the C6 and Z06. Chevy's getting into a pricing territory($100,000) where the buyers are more demanding of the look and quality of the product. I hope the interior gets upgraded as well. I trust Lutz will do something with it.

Welcome to July. We've all seen it and we've had several "insiders" say that the new CTS looks better then this. Come on people, do a little bit of research on the boards before you post. This photo is even in a thread on the same page as this one!!! It's right there!! I don't intend to be so mean but COME ON!

Dealer on new Malibu:"It's going to be a home run"
Cadillacfan replied to Northstar's topic in Chevrolet
That's your opinion. But many people I know who own it and like it (which is only a handfull) and the auto magazines (yeah, I know they're a little biased) have said it looks much more upscale to the previous model. I'd have to agree. Especially with it's high belt-line and stance of the vehicle. Now, upscale doesn't mean beautiful, but it's much better then the previous model. If GM is going for the same approach with the new Malibu as Toyota did with the new Camry, it will do well. It looks like they are aiming directly at the Camry this time judging from the spy photos. -
I have already seen these. Still, it's great to see it.

Dealer on new Malibu:"It's going to be a home run"
Cadillacfan replied to Northstar's topic in Chevrolet
First of all, the current Malibu isn't a POS. It can be a lot better but it's still a good, dependable car. I know a lot of people who own it and love it. Secondly, you can't predict that the Malibu won't rock the segment. The new Camry is selling like wildfire across the country and it certainly isn't anything special. It offers nothing new to the segment and it draws so many visual cues from it's competitors (especially Mazda) that it should've been anything but a hit. They're hard to find in the capital district and even in Buffalo because they're selling so many of them. I know this because a cousin from the DC area is looking to buy one and they have no available there or here. The Greater Buffalo/Niagara region is Chevy territory and yet the Camry is still selling out. Why is that? Well, even though it's a Toyota, it still looks good to most people. We live in an age where brand loyalty is no longer a main reason to buy a new car. If a product looks good and upscale for a cheaper price, people will go for it. If Chevy can do that with the Malibu and offer all the same options when the new model comes out, it could do a lot of damage in the segment. Hey, you may be right. But all the hints we've been given points to a certified hit for Chevy. -
That's outstanding news. Now, whether or not this has been influenced solely by the possible Renault/Nissan merger remains to be seen. If the merger talks do indeed fall through, let us see if the stock continues its gain. If it does continue to rise, it shows the American consumers that stockholders have real confidence in the company's future...something that people at this website have had for a long time.

Congratulations on the purchase! The CTS is still an attractive/unique vehicle and it's four years old! With the visual enhancements, it adds just enough flair to allow it to stick out in a good way.
-
Well, I think your statement was backed up by most of the automotive press. There is a reason why the SRX keeps winning the award for best Luxury mid-size SUV year after year and it has nothing to do with the interior.
-
Looks good. It's funny though, with the white openings in the cladding for the taillights, it looks like a Lexus RX330.

It's Official: Commodore coming to US as a Pontiac
Cadillacfan replied to Northstar's topic in Heritage Marques
Very exciting news! Though, I find the Torrana to be the really important news for the future of GM. Can anyone say new 3-series competitor from Cadillac? Now that the CTS appears to be moving up a weight class, a small RWD platform would be a much better idea then the Epsilon II platform simply because it's RWD. -
WOW! New real-world pics of the Outlook!
Cadillacfan replied to caddycruiser's topic in Heritage Marques
Looks really good in these photos. Saturn dealers must be salivating! -
Mwahahaa. Great movie.
-
The post said Theta/Epsilon II based. Looks good. Hopefully, the Cadillac version will look outstanding as well.
-
I know that I'm probably sounding like a broken record but I have really high hopes for the next Cobalt now.
-
The look of the interior is nice but knowing Chrysler, they'll cheap out on the materials used. I'd rather have the NAV screen over the radio. I think GM will finally have a lead over DCX by the end of the decade when comparing interiors.
