Honestly, I think you played into (the person in question that I think we all know who)'s hand by leaving the site. I think you just have to either block his statements or report him for his inflamatory remarks. Sure, that means you have to adjust your life to avoid his remarks but sometimes you have to fight for what you believe in.. even if others don't agree. Who cares what other people think. Just ignore them and they lose interest in attacking you.

There are several threads in this section with spy photos of the upcoming Malibu. They're easy to find. From what we can see it's definately not retro but there are a few cues that refer to Chevrolet's past designs, such as the circular taillights which can also be seen on the Cobalt coupe. In the front, the styling cues are borrowed from the Chevy SS concept from a few years back including a big, bold chevy grille. Renaming the Malibu would be a mistake. So many times in the past, GM would rename vehicles in order to boost sales, but the result would be negative. The Malibu is a name that millions of Americans are familiar with whether they think positively or negatively about it. Overall, the Malibu is a decent and reliable car and people realize that. The problem that so many people have with it is the styling and the overall quality. If GM can remedy those problems and advertise the hell out if it, then they should have no problem selling it. Look at what Nissan did with the Altima. The previous vehicle, although decent, wasn't much to look at and it wasn't up to par to the Camry or the Accord in many areas. As soon as they injected some style and a faster engine into it, the public quickly forgot about the previous generation. It looks like GM will try to do the same with the next Malibu and it just might work.

I can't say I didn't see this coming. This vehicle is too much like a minivan and too dull to make a big enough dent in the crossover segment to be profitable. They need to start from scratch. Maybe come out with a crossover that's bold and geared more towards the average SUV buyer. Something Ford is doing with the Edge/MKX, upcoming Fairline, and what GM is doing with its Lambda triplets.

I posted a thread in the European competition forum today and for some reason, the site decided to not let me post at all. When I tried posting it for a third time, it finally let me do it, but ended up with two other threads. Can someone fix this issue and get rid of the last two threads? Check before you delete though....if you can even do that. EDIT: I see the problem was fixed. Thank you.

They should've made the Compass like this since the beginning. It might've made more sense.

I just hope that we get something close to this. The current Colorado was already looking dated when it came to market.

Exactly.

Hey, I'm not an owner of a pick-up/SUV nor do I want to, but this article was completely unfair whether or not they cater more towards the auto enthusiast crowd. I'm just pissed that they're so open about it in a time that most of the news media sources are defending their objectivity. Now, is CarandDriver a real news magazine? Hell no, but they should at least review the truck based on merrits and not concept...especially when all the automakers are building the same cars because that's what people want.
-
Hard to justify? What?!?! Are they on crack this week? They must be because now they've finally stepped completely out of reality and went into GM bashing land. They mock an SUV that was a response to the Lincoln Navigator and turned out to be the sales leader in a segment that is still growing and adding new models: Infiniti, Mercedes, Audi all seem to think the segment is valuable enough to enter. They want Justification for the Escalade? Because everyone is building a full-size Luxury SUV. The reason for that? Because there is a demand for it. Simple economics. Are they completely dense? Are they missing a few million brain cells from breathing in the exhaust of a Camry? That must be the only explanation for this entire rant.

Disgusting. It's got a color only a Smurf would love. Oh. I didn't see Creativevision's post about it's smurf-like qualities. I guess I'm not the only one thinking that.
-
Amazing idea. Bad execution. It's not horrible but they could've done a lot more to make it stand out. I don't understand why they would premiere this at SEMA. I guess they didn't feel confident showing it at a bigger autoshow. I wouldn't blame them if they felt that way.

I see you're a fan of The Smiths ocn.

Obviously, all this is showcasing is the add-ons you can get with the new Lambda X-overs. Nothing more, nothing less. No extreme Outlook concept this year. GM wants to remind the buying public that the Outlook is on its way and that if you need to buy accessories, use theirs.

Sydney show: HSV reveals its Grange flagship
Cadillacfan replied to douglask's topic in Heritage Marques
Very nice vehicle. The price of this may seem extremely high to most of us here but luxury cars in Australia are all overpriced from what I've heard. Buick could use a car similar to this. Of course, it shouldn't look like it but GMNA should use a similar approach and price it competitively against the 300C. -
The front end is much better then the current one. GM needs to get serious in this segment so it can catch up with the competition. Something that the current Colorado failed to do. Next step, put some serious money into that interior and drop in a V6 and a V8. With this concept, it appears that GM may be listening to the complaints of the critics and fans and will beef up the Chevy/GMC twins.

GM to Use Cost Savings to Fight Toyota Green Cars
Cadillacfan replied to BigPontiac's topic in General Motors
Don't believe everything you see. That's just one movie. There's plenty of other sources out there that can contest the views from the film. I'm not saying I believe them, in fact, I do believe the oil companies had something to do with it. Though, I'm not going to base what I believe on one documentary. You shouldn't either. -
They may have to in a few years. Hyundai has one coming to the NA market in a few years. I do have a feeling that Toyota will go the route of AWD especially now that it can gain expertise from Subaru. Something GM failed to do in all the years partially owning Fuji Heavy Industries.
-
I wouldn't say that the HHR and SX4 interiors are creative but they are certainly more inviting then the cold, staid look of the DCX siblings. People spend most of the time during thier day in their cars and I don't know who would like to look at squared-off shiney plastic.

This segment is getting hot. This should keep the General from letting the G6 coupe get stale. It still kind of reminds me of a vehicle Nissan might make. I guess the people at Nissan liked the idea of a FWD with sporty styling too.
-
I doubt we'll see too much of a change since it will be built in the same factory as the rest of the Astras. Could we see the NA radio? I really hope not but I've come to accept that as a strong possibility. GM needs to have all of the vehicles looking the same inside and out for Opel and Saturn.

Well, that is just unfortunate. It's ugly from every angle, every color, and in every photo (professional & real life). The interior is a joke. You really think that Mercedes-Benz would've given it's American brands some pointers. Not only is this ugly, but it's useless. Why would anyone buy a Jeep that is basically a rebadge of the more attractive, and cheaper Dodge Caliber and can't go off-roading in it and then have another Jeep based off the same platform, that is a little bit bigger, is more attractive, priced similarly, and can actually go off road? We thought Ford and GM had problems. DCX is screwed if it keeps making decisions like this.

Another Jerry Flint Column to Outrage Everyone
Cadillacfan replied to ehaase's topic in General Motors
I'm sure if they had more money devoted to the interior, the design would've been well thought-out and attractive because the current one looks like a rush job that contains a mish-mash of ideas along with an expensive radio/hvac unit. It seemed as though it was the very last thing developed and they used the money left after they designed the exterior. It's typical of US automakers to not pay attention fully to interior design and quality. With Lutz, the money has shifted to where it counts and now that they already have a platform and styling to start off with, it makes the interior a much easier task then before. -
Another Jerry Flint Column to Outrage Everyone
Cadillacfan replied to ehaase's topic in General Motors
His whole argument is flawed. Contrary to what many people(including Flinty-boy) think, GM isn't swimming in money at the moment. It hasn't been for some time now and vehicles that are built by GM are much more expensive then their Japanese and European counterparts due to healthcare costs and other various union dues. How many times must that point be crammed into the minds of these people?!?!? He lacks common sense too. You don't just build a $100,000 sedan and put it to market when all you've been building for the past two decades were rebadged FWD sedans that share a lot with it's cheaper sister brands. VW tried that approach with the Phaeton and failed miserably in the North American market. The main issue was that people here still think of VW as a german auto company that specializes in making fun, small, and affordable cars, not large, luxurious sedans that are priced to compete with the likes of Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. $70,000 for a VW? Hell no. It may be a nice car, but people here buy luxury cars based on brand name and not the car itself. That's why you see people have to own BMWs or Mercedes no matter how bad/cheap the car might be. Cadillac should build up it's volume vehicles by making them luxurious and sporty and then build an ultra-lux vehicle when the time is ready. I do agree that the interiors are lacking but I bring up the money issue yet again. GM devoted a lot of money into the Cadillac brand and most of it was focused on exterior design and it's all-new RWD platform. Now that there is a set brand identity in place and performance is key to the future, Cadillac design teams can focus on improving the interiors and making them, at least, competitive to other cars in the Luxury segment.
