  1. I'm old enough to remember seeing the new Ford Mustang at an auto show in Denver. My dad was trying to tell my brother and I that it was "based on the Falcon". We weren't having any of that.
  2. That is a great-looking vehicle, and I love the concept. Here's another one of my favorite pickups--though it ain't as purty as the Golden Cameo. 1964-65 Dodge Custom Sports Special, with an available 365 HP, 426-S (wedge, not Hemi) engine:
  3. Now THAT was a pretty car. I definitely prefer smooth to edgy. ^^^^But yeah, I'm old.
  4. Yeah, where are the Darts?? I've only seen one and it was stashed on a car carrier, betwixt some minivans.
  5. Interior was sharp, too. Looks to be a daily driver; a Wisconsin winter will rot it out quickly, I'm afraid.
  6. Dang it! Originally posted this in a wayward thread. Sorry.
  7. Whoops! Missed it. I'll repost. Please feel free to delete this thread.
  8. Couldn't wait for the official thread to post this one: Sorry it's a bit blurry; I was kind of loaded when I snapped the shutter.
  9. Had a '66 Belvedere with the old school 318 poly motor. It was actually a rockin machine. Also had a 73 W200 Power Wagon. It had the 318 small block. It wasn't very rockin, but damned durable.
  10. Ok, I'll take that Duster 360 that is left over. No problem!
  11. Thanks for posting that! I'm an astronomy geek. I actually was an astronomy student as an undergrad but quickly found I was far too stupid to get anywhere in it. Still am fascinated by it though; always have been.
  12. The tinworm had a field day with cars from the 1970s. On a quiet night, you could actually hear my '74 Gremlin X rusting away.
  13. Inline six and a 4-speed granny 1st.
  14. Yeah, a Cuda with a 318 could still be quick. The tubbier Road Runner needed a bit more oomph though. College chum of mine bought a 73 Charger with a 318 and it always felt like he was hauling around a load of gravel in his trunk to me. Keep in mind I'm a fan of the 318...
  15. Just wait until you open up both barrels of the carb perched atop the low compression 318 that comes standard in that Road Runner! Hang on to your hats, boys & girls!
  16. Made a pilgrimage to Kenosha, WI yesterday. Saw a 1961 Rambler Classic sedan, a '64 Classic 770 sedan and an early 1980s AMC Concord sedan. All were out driving around and in nice condition.
  17. Always wanted a '65 GTO "post coupe" with a 3-speed manual tranny. I have weird tastes, no doubt. Cousin of mine bought a 1970 Pontiac GT-37. It came with a 400 V8 and 3-speed manual. The clutch on that thing was burlier than the one in my old 1953 FWD dump truck (powered by an inline 6-71 Detroit Diesel).
  18. Dang it, Ocnblu is right... My grandad's was definitely a '71. He died in the summer of '72, a year after buying it.
  19. 1971 El Camino could be my grandad's...last car he ever bought was a 71 EC; bought it new in Spencer, IA. Looked just like the one in the photo above.
  20. Yeah, grain withdrawl can be nasty. Hate to say it, but some grain has been sneaking back into my life lately. I did the full-bore Wheatbelly diet back in the winter and spring of this year, but have slowly lapsed, mainly because of convenience. I'd like to get back to it though; I've put about 10-lbs. back on and my pants have gotten snug. We grew lots of grain on the family farm, of course. You'd be amazed at how energy- and water-intensive corn is (this is the corn that gets feed to livestock, not sweet corn that people eat--though that stuff is similarly high maintenance). Toughest grain product for me to give up was beer! Fortunately, someone figured out how to get grape juice to ferment.
  21. Yeah, this one is quite workable. I didn't fall for the all meat, all the time diet you mentioned (Was it Atkins?), but I figured this one was easy enough to try without any real negatives that I could see. Hardest part for me was coming up with stuff to eat for breakfast. I'm not nuts about eating eggs all that often. We finally came up with a bread made from almond flour, with sunflower butter & homemade jam. It's friggin' yummy and goes great with coffee or Irish Breakfast Tea.
  22. Heh. That '62 New Yorker is pretty sharp. I still think of them as "plucked chickens"; the '61s had a very similar front end but also had some great fins out back:
