  1. Yep. Looks very Crosley-esque to me as well.
  2. Always liked the front end styling of the '71-'72 Custom Cruisers. And the rest of the car for that matter. But back to Mercurys...took my driver's test in a '71 Marquis Brougham 2-door hdtp. That thing was a blast to parallel park! It was also a blast when the accelerator was stomped upon...that 429 was a storming engine.
  3. I'm a fan of station wagons in general. I'd love a '71 Olds Custom Cruiser (or maybe a '72).
  4. Friend of mine had a really nice 1975 K20 pickup with the 292 six & 4-speed trans. Thing had enough torque to tug a house off its foundation.
  5. I'm with Oldsmoboi...The 425 had its work cut out for it trying to yank around all that lard. My granny had a '77 Coupe deVille with the 425...seemed to hustle along pretty well but I think it weighed significantly less than the Eldo.
  6. That Toro probably weighs even more than my '72 Regency did...and that thing was a real sled! But add me to the "cheers" list!
  7. Used to have a '76 K10 Scottsdale back when I was still farming. It had the old manual lockout hubs and was powered by the 350 & 4-speed trans w/ granny low. Good running truck but it was plagued with electrical issues.
  8. Saw an absolutely gorgeous 1974 Colony Park wagon cruising down the highway yesterday afternoon. The car looked to be immaculate. It was medium blue with the wood grain trim. I was trying to think how long it's been since I'd seen one of these in action...has to be at least a decade or two. Even my wife thought it was cool!
  9. 84,000 miles and counting on the '07 Maxx. Still runs like a champ. We did do about $1500 worth of work to the front suspension. Took care of most of the clunking but there are still a few odd noises coming from up there on uneven pavement. After 4.5 years of driving this car, I still can say I love it. My wife says the same thing!
  10. I really like the Dart--but wish it was about 300-lbs. lighter. Of course, I've been saying that about most new cars over the past decade. It's getting good reviews in the automotive press. Hope to get my hands on one for a test drive soon...

    No Mo Mopar

Heh. The garage sure looks empty now...

    No Mo Mopar

As of today, we are now a GM-only household. Sold my 2004 Neon SXT this morning and we're down to one car, the Malibu Maxx. This is the first time I've been without a Mopar in the garage since Nixon was president. I'm serious! My wife got a new job where she is able to commute via bus and I've been commuting via bus for a long time. Our high-school daughter gets to/from school via the bus as well and she won't be able to drive, unless some advanced surgery comes along to fix her eyesight (she's legally blind). We decided we don't need two cars and my wife didn't like driving the Neon (she claims she sat too low in it). Wow...we only have one car--and it's a GM!
  13. Thanks for the enlightening comments. I'm looking closely at the brochure pix and I think the difference really is a function of the vinyl roof extending onto the B-pillar. Wish I had two actual cars to compare in person! I got to frequently drive a '77 Coupe de Ville back in the day. I was impressed with how well the car handled, and how well it accelerated with the 425 V8. The "downsized" GM full-sizers were quite revolutionary cars when they came on the market in the fall of 1976.
  14. Looking at the brochure pix, the Brougham's pillar certainly looks wider than the SDVs...but not sure how much of that is due to artistic license... http://oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Cadillac/1977_Cadillac/1977_Cadillac_Brochure_1/dirindex.html http://oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Cadillac/1978_Cadillac/1978_Cadillac_Brochure_1/dirindex.html
  15. Was the B-pillar on 1977-'79 Fleetwood Broughams different than the one on Sedan deVilles? The two models used the same body, correct? Thanks for indulging my curiosity...
  16. HUGE cheers--that thing is even homelier than I am! You wouldn't see yourself coming and going down the highway in that thing.
  17. Always liked those cars. One of the prettiest intake manifolds ever (or intake plenums, or whatever they're called).
  18. AHAHAHA! That's hysterical!
  19. The exterior made me smile, but the Ford Pinto air cleaner housing perched on top of that pea-shooter carburetor cracked me right up!
  20. I remember my jaw dropping when I found out they were stuffing the big 455 into the new Firebird...1970 was one helluva year; the last gasp before the big downhill slide of the rest of the decade (my opinion, of course).
  21. Wheee! Three on the tree! I could shift my '55 Chevy (six + 3 speed) without using the clutch--just ease up on the accelerator when taking it out of gear, and speed the engine a little when shifting into the next. I got good enough that I could do it up and down. Probably more of a testament to decent synchros in the tranny than to any skill on my part...
  22. I love the idea of a large V8 powered sedan like this. But I'd try to find a nice oldie in good shape for 1/4 the price.
  23. I think it must have been 16K off road miles. Gorgeous car that appears to not have lived a charmed life.
  24. Well, at least it's got a PowerSmoke diesel...
  25. I always thought it would be kinda funky to have a '77-'78 Impala sports coupe with the 250 inline six. And the F41 suspension option!
