Nope, I think that market should be left to Saab-Buick rather, just in case Saab went under, and so Buick could make itself relevant in the near-luxury market, something I really think would be a great idea if they want to survive. In other words, I totally agree with you.
-
I was referring to a base Cobalt too-I think the regular 130hp Corolla's (non-XRS levels) get 40 MPG highway, and therefore compared to non-hybrid/diesel compact cars, that's a benchmark. On a more related note, I think Chevy should roll out more Spring Edition models, even Winter Edition, or Fall Edition with green/brown/taupe/earth tone colors.
-
Well maybe if Chevy had done the Cobalt right, you'd have your alternative...sad because I just saw a Cobalt commercial at a local dealer advertising 34 MPG, and the same dealer that also sells Toyota's advertised the same 34 MPG highway on its Camry 4-cylinder! Pretty sad, huh? Back on topic, Aveo needs to get mid-40's in highway mileage, and it needs it now-its beyond pathetic that it doesn't. If I were to get a subcompact I probably would get the Aveo in LS trim, I don't want luxury features when buying a subcompact car, but if someone does want it, then I'd say I now support the features/model to exist.

Reminds me of the Mazda 3 sedan-nice, but pleasantly bland, especially in the front end.

I briefly saw CSI: Miami last night, and there was a red-orange Pontiac Solstice (roadster of course, not coupe like they thought) on there involved in a crime scene. Anyone else see that?
-
You mean return in large amounts, right Ninety-Eight? Yeah if the Lucerne looks like a 1985-90 Ninety-Eight update, that's not a good thing-that was their lowest period, IMO.

Actually, LeSabre was the best-selling full-size car-before the Impala overtook it in sales two or so years ago-I love White Diamond and Crimson Red (as well as some other colors-the Cashmere Gold looked nice), but I saw the CX cloth interior-the upholstery looked like it was about to rip apart! Sleeker looking car than I originally thought, but I'm still not crazy about it.
-
Isn't this supposed to replace the Aerio SX?
-
Malibu Maxx is a better car than its sedan counterpart (not like that's very hard), but it still suffers the same shortcomings-drab, narrow interior, dated-before-on-sale engines, and a so-so price to equipment ratio. I mean, those LT (former LS) "fascia spoke" are just plastic-coated steel wheels aren't they? I'm not sure what they were thinking when they took out aluminum wheels, but that's just a small discrepancy I guess. But I would probably still recommend the Maxx, but not the sedan to others, and I hope GM reconsiders discontinuing the Maxx-its very popularin myarea.

Pikachu, I choose Saabaru (if we had to kill any brands). I like Saab, but not over Cadillac and the others. They have (had?) potential, but it went to useless rebadges and their products are aging.

9-6X was to be a Saab version of the Subaru B9 Tribeca, but it was recently cancelled. Both of those were slated to be based on the front or all-wheel-drive, mid or full-size Lambda car-based crossover architecture, but Lambda could not fit the 3.0-liter Boxer H-6 engine, so it was moved to a stretched Legacy/Outback/Baja platform. TE-Theta-Epsilon II. Really just a mid-size version of the second-generation Theta architecture, as I think the two platforms are interchangable anyway (compared the 106.3 and 112.3" wheelbases-coincidence? I think not!) Sub-Theta-Shortened Theta architecture meets Delta II (Cobalt, HHR, ION, Canada/Mexico-only Pursuit/G4). Chevy, GMC, and possible Buick versions. Theta II-2008 Saturn VUE, Opel/Vauxhall Antara, Chevrolet/Holden (GM-DAT) Captiva S3X, and 2010 or so Chevrolet Equinox redesign (on long-wheelbase I think). Pontiac Torrent (unfortunately) to supposedly move to GMC.

Should Pontiac make a 4-cylinder G6 Coupe?
Mule Bakersdozen LS replied to ToniCipriani's topic in Heritage Marques
No-there shouldn't even be a 4-cylinder G6-the 2.8-liter DOHC High Feature 210hp V-6 should be standard on Base models-leave the 4-cylinders (the 2.4-liter DOHC ECOTEC) to the Malibu. -

That 1991-94 Capri was not American-it was built and imported from Australia, based on the previous Mazda 323 platform.

I'd say the most ideal dimensions for a Camaro would be 108" wheelbase, 188" overall length; 72" overall width; 53-54" height, seating 4 passengers, with at least 32" rear legroom and a minimum 13 cubic foot trunk on coupes.
-
That's exactly what I've been trying to conjure up! And why Buick should have this smaller crossover-which turns out I guess now to be a mid-sizer and not a compact like I originally thought. If there were to be a Buick version, then I don't think BRX would really be needed-if that is, you were going after the X3 and Mariner. I think the next SRX should turned into more a tall mid-size crossover wagon like the Mercedes-Benz R-Class, but lower and sharper looking, and then shoo in BRX or something like that.
-
No, B-size class is the international term for 'subcompact car'. Or in most cases today, compact-car interior and a subcompact exterior size. You might know these best as Chevrolet Aveo, Scion xA, Toyota Echo, Kia Rio, and Hyundai Accent. I like the front ends of this drawing, but the rear looks too much like the 2000 Chevy Traverse concept car (which previewed the Malibu Maxx).

I'd be interested, but I'd need to figure out how to use a scanner when I got a chance. Would you want them to be in color or no?
-
Would be nice if the Sequel concepr were productionized-I liked the exterior styling and design-it would look fitting as a Saturn, given modifications.

Just got my Civic sedan/Hybrid brochure yesterday, and I still walked away unimpressed. I have yet to sit in one or go up close to one for an in-depth look, but the fact that the car has less passenger and cargo room yet is physically larger and slightly awkward stylistically (that window ahead of the door just looks odd and doesn't belong on any car-apparently no one has learned the lesson), and the coupe just looks plain ridiculous. And the base DX trim doesn't even come with a stereo or a CD player as standard, ditto air conditioning, yet it has power windows I think. That's just plain stupid, just ask the Nissan Altima special-order base model. I bet people will continue to buy, but now I know why the Civic is not only a poor value but also a massively overrated car in almost every way. And did you really think the Lucerne, G6 coupe, or DTS would get Car of the Year awards? I've seen the cars and they're travesties at best.
-
Yeah not odd that you mention Lincoln Zephyr-that's one vehicle I don't think has happy times ahead-I think it will slightly boost Lincoln in the short-term (with the Aviator being more significant), but I ultimately think Lincoln's days are numbered. I saw the commercial last night and it evoked memories of the 1978-83 mid-size Ford Fairmont clone.
-
I like it, at first I was a bit iffy on the Avenger-concept-inspired grille (ugh), but then I realized, ah...yes that's how the front end was shaped on the 1970-74 originals. Dodge would be very smart to make all their passenger cars of this shape, and put some (more) bodyside curvature in there!
-
You know you mentioned the Ridgeline 3 times, right? The Chery's on sale already?
-
Yeah the Rainier is dead after this model year (the one and only purpose it ever had was to use up the two-year-old at the time Oldsmobile Bravada), the 9-7X should've never happened, and while the Isuzu Ascender looks nice, it doesn't sell and its an unnecessary GMC Envoy/XL (NOT THE TRAILBLAZER, THE ENVOYS) rebadge. I saw a Monte Carlo "SS" yesterday-I don't see its sales going anywhere but down. I personally though Lucerne would tank, but I suppose it will do o0kay. I don't really like it much and I think that and DTS are vastly behind in style, engines, passenger and cargo room (Lucerne has LESS than both LeSabre and Park Avenue, not to mention the dead Chrysler Concorde and Lincoln Continental). I really don't know what GM was thinking when facelifting the DeVille and replacing LeSabre/PA because they will both be severely dated in 2009.

Cool Olds that never made to production
Mule Bakersdozen LS replied to ToniCipriani's topic in Heritage Marques
I liked the Alero better than the Grand Am, but that's like trying to say a Geo/Chevy Metro is a better car than a period Ford Festiva/Aspire of that time period. Intrigue especially had potential, and it sold very well, as did the Alero, but it suffered the same non-Malibu/Cutlass clone N-Body mistakes.
