  1. LOL! That car is awesome-there's someone in town who zooms around with one of those! The Yaris could be worse-it does look a bit like the previous yucky, cheap-looking Echo, better than the 2007 Aveo sedan's pictures, but I hate the tall-car thing going on in general-they're not that stylish most of the time, and I'd like a subcompact that's not frumpy (previous Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio), ridiculously cheap-looking/feeling (Rio-all), but functional and stylish, not unlike a Chevy Vega, but without all the problems.
  2. So how is it a great buy then? There's only two things I think are any good on the Uplander: the 5-spoke aluminum wheels and the front grille-that's it. There's no way ever that I would recommend any GM minivan over a Dodge Caravan (except that cheap-looking piece of trash SE regular)/Chrysler Town & Country (except SWB), Toyota Sienna, or Honda Odyssey. The GM quartet has more seats-down cargo room than the Ford Freestar/Mercury Monterey junkaroos, but that's about the only real advantage they have. I saw a Sandstone Uplander Base extended today-it looked awful-black bodyside moldings, no luggage rack/roof rails (its a family minivan/travel vehicle-WHY wouldn't you get that, and moreover, why isn't it standard?). I wish these turkeys were never even discussed (just like their High Value engines)-I'd love to see a Chevy regular/extended minivan, sporty-performance Pontiac regular-length and luxury Buick extended minivan ruling the market-but let's just say I haven't given up hope yet, despite the deeply depressing products they've always had.
  3. I do-fornication is a sin-masturbation, lust, its all sin-I'm a virgin who almost wasn't, but I've learned its so important to save it until you're married, and many of my church friends would probably say the same.
  4. Its tough...I'm a born-again Christian too, for about a year and a half or more now, and its hard sometimes talking to people who aren't also born-again, such as a couple friends and my family-and I've grown to dislike the word 'religion' or religious-I don't want to be religious or be seen as practicing religion or such-I want to be seen as someone who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who I'm realizing died for me and all of us. To all those seeking Christ and those Christians-keep looking for Jesus-ask Him what He wants us to do in our lives, and just keep following.
  5. I used to like the current VUE, but the interior is a letdown along with a couple other things-I guess I still like it more than say, the Ford Escape-looks like a mini-SRX to me. I'm not crazy about the dashboard spy shots of the Antara, and the production car from what I'm seeing pales in comparison to the dynamite Antara GTC concept from earlier this year. The production Antara AutoBild CGI's of the car reminded me a little of the last (2001-05) Toyota RAV4, but that's a good thing because though undersized, that RAV4 and the Antara CGI's still had some style.
  6. I was told by a Saturn representative that the Aura was to be unveiled at the New York Auto Show! Or would at least be there. He didn't know about the Outlook, and I forgot to ask about the Astra or Evoke, or whatever is replacing ION.
  7. Nope, Eagle SX/4 was based on the subcompact Spirit (aka restyled 1979-83 Gremlin), essentially a junior Eagle from 1981-82-not popular, very unique. Of course, the Eagle compact (or mid-size, depending on how you consider it) was based on the Concord, which ran from 1978-83.
  8. Welcome to the site! If you're near a Borders, Barnes and Noble or some libraries, look up the VIN Data in a Standard Catalog book-there's an individual one for Chevrolet (1911-2003 is the latest edition), and there's also the Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1946-75-both from Krause Publications. I'd put the VIN codes on here, but I don't have the book on me and won't get a chance to look until later tonight or so-I'll see to remember to do that though.
  9. So you're not getting ABS either? Sounds good otherwise, for a Cobalt.
  10. Agreed totally-there isn't much special about this edge-free vehicle (and even less about the MKX)-there was little buzz on either vehicle Thursday night at an empty-anyway upstairs of the Auto Show. Other than possibly the MKS and Zephyr...er...MKZ....Lincoln doesn't have a future, they've wasted their opportunities. And the cargo room, at a mere 68 cubic feet is just pitiful for the Equinox, and the same holds here too.
  11. I don't like that idea at all. I think the next, circa-2011 Aveo should be based on Opel/Vauxhall Corsa and built in North America-and dump the mediocre Optra, Epica, and Vivant-just export versions of Cobalt, Malibu, and HHR worldwide or something-the new Epica looks worse than the Malibu already is, and the new Aveo sedan is just plain ugly.
  12. Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird, the latter of course is just a dream should be much shorter than 110" in wheelbase. Okay, 107" is not shorter by a whole lot, but still-110 is just a waste for the platform and for the already miniscule passenger and cargo room, not that wheelbases affect it, but the packaging that does. Prime engines should be the 3.6-liter DOHC High Feature V-6 with 250hp (270hp with RAM AIR/High Output version); 4800 4.8-liter OHV 280hp V-8 (Chevy's); 4.4-liter DOHC UV8 300hp V-8 (Pontiac/Buick); 5300 5.3-liter OHV LS4 340hp V-8; and 6000 6.0-liter OHV LS-2 400hp V-8's, all with 5-6-speed OD electronic automatic transmissions and 6-speed OD manual and/or TAPShift II, model depending. As for other Zeta models/body styles...here's some of what I think would be ideal: Chevrolet Monte Carlo-Mid-size 2-door hardtop coupe in LS, LT, and SS trims with 4800 V-8, 5300 V-8, and 6000 V-8's respectively, featuring crisp, 1970-72/73-77/78-80 exterior styling and design, and bring back the knight badges! Similar to Pontiac Grand Prix/GTO and Buick Velite. Chevrolet Impala-Large 4-door, 6-passenger (5-LTZ/SS) notchback sedan and 5-door 2-3-seat/5-9-passenger station wagon body styles, in CS, LS, LT, LTZ, and SS (sedan) trim levels, with 4800 V-8 (CS/LS), 5300 V-8 (LT/LTZ-optional CS/LS), and an SS-exclusive 6000 V-8. 2003 SS concept meets 1969-70 styling. Similar to Pontiac Bonneville and Buick Lucerne 2012.
  13. They're not just essentially the HF's, they're one and the same!
  14. The rear end is very nice, and so's the front end, but only when compared to Charger and Caliber's-the ideal Dodge front end will always be a Viper-based one for cars; 2002-05 Ram for trucks.
  15. Almost related, I saw the 2007 GMC Yukon SLT-2 last night at the Auto Show. It was as pitiful looking (though kind of macho-looking) in person as it is in pictures. The whole upstairs was kind of dead for the Thursday night, but there was virtually no buzz around it-the dashboard really didn't look that great and neither did the interior-and it was priced at a ghastly $50,615, devoid of chrome trim and in that awful, not even remotely silver Silver Birch Metallic (if I could get rid of any color at GM, that would be it, or at least name it what it really is more like-Cool Grey 20 or something). These trucks are too overpriced and they look the same as Chevrolet's, which is what I thought they were trying to escape (I know, I know, GM's got a budget crisis, but that didn't stop Envoy or Envoy XL considering the other GMC's were pitiless rebadges, now did it?)
  16. Personally, I thought quite the opposite-I thought Durango was a nice, aggressive break in the truck-based large SUV mold-the one and only reason I agree with the Chrysler Aspen is that Jeep failed to make Commander a large SUV.
  17. Still not sure what the point of this redesign was-I personally thought the Suzuki Verona (its American clone) was nice enough, except for the engine and small-spec trunk. Hopefully they'll ditch those dated, weak engines ASAP and switch to Epsilon II next time around.
  18. My first car when growing up was a sky blue 1983 Chevrolet Chevette base 5-door hatchback sedan. Interesting little car, had it until 1991, nice article-genealogy they had there.
  19. I agree with you there, but I think G6 should make the 2.8-liter DOHC HF V-6 engine standard but leave the 4-cylinders to compacts and base Malibus.

  21. I've seen new Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country spy shots and while they're not bad looking (except for the shape of the top of the front window, IMO), they don't look well-differentiated at all.
  22. Oh, I'm not done yet.... After Can Am, almost everything else is going to be rear-drive. I'd type more out, but I told myself I wouldn't be on for long...
  23. Welcome Regalguy01! I think Buick will survive, but they really need something that pushes an envelope-Enclave and possibly the Chinese LaCrosse do that, but nothing else right now does. They're still in utterly pitiful shape, and any of these suggestions should be implemented into Buick IMMEDIATELY! That Chinese LaCrosse has some good points, but I don't want to know how slow those engines would be.
  24. Other than the taillamps and vastly superior dashboard/interior, I can't say I like it much, especially the front end. The spy shots looked better, though the windows look nice.
  25. Here's mine: Sunburst-2-door, 5-passenger fastback sports coupe based on the subcompact front-wheel-drive platform of the upcoming Opel/Vauxhall Corsa. Similar to a future Chevrolet Aveo, this would be different from every subcompact car, in the sense that it would resurrect the subcompact sports coupe market, combining high fuel economy and high performance in SE, SJ, and GT trim levels. SE has the 1.8-liter DOHC ECOTEC 130hp I-4 engine; SJ adds RAM AIR to the 1.8-liter I-4 for 150hp, and GT adds a supercharger for 170hp, all with 5-speed OD manual or 5-speed OD electronic automatic transmissions (the latter with TAPShift II on GT). $13,000-17,000. Piranha-Directly inspired by one of my favorite latter-day concept cars, the 2000 Piranha, this sporty, 5-passenger front-wheel-drive compact is similar to Chevrolet Cobalt on the Delta II architecture, hoping to take back the sports-performance mid-upscale compact market from chief rival Mazda 3. In addition to regular 4-door notchback sedan and 2-door notchback coupe body styles, an Aerocoupe 3-door, 4-passenger hatchback sports coupe (think Scion tC/Acura RSX rival), REV 4-door, 4-passenger Quad Coupe, 5-door hatchback sports sedan, and SportSafari 5-door hathcback-sports wagon body styles are offered, as opposed to Cobalt's suggested, separate coupe/sedan/wagon lineup. Piranha SJ and Sportec package starts with a 2.2-liter DOHC ECOTEC 145hp I-4 engine and 5-speed OD manual or 5-speed OD electronic automatic transmissions, while GT adds a 2.4-liter DOHC ECOTEC 175hp I-4 optional on SJ (but not Sportec package). GT adds a RAM AIR 2.4-liter DOHC ECOTEC I-4 with 200hp, while Formula Coupe adds a high-pressure turbocharged 300hp 2.4-liter DOHC ECOTEC I-4, with 6-speed OD manual or TAPShift II 5-speed OD electronic automatic (the latter also optional on GT). $15,000-22,000. Ventura-Similar to Chevrolet Nova and Buick Skylark, the Ventura returns to re-establish the long-lost and forgotten rear-wheel-drive compact car, but this time, a real compact car, but with more efficient use of passenger and cargo room (as with all models). Seating 5 passengers and shortened to a 107.1" wheelbase from the Zeta VE architecture shared with separate Firebird, the Ventura comes in 2-door notchback coupe and 4-door notchback sedan body styles, sportier than a Nova. Ventura SJ starts with the 2.4-liter DOHC ECOTEC 175hp I-4 engine and 5-speed OD manual or 5-sped OD electronic automatic transmissions, while GT has a 3.2-liter DOHC High Feature 230hp V-6 (and optional TAPShift for the automatic). Ventura SD adds a 3.6-liter DOHC HF 255hp V-6, good for 250hp. $17,000-24,000. Firebird-Like Abbott and Costello and Christ Tucker and Jackie Chan in the Rush Hour movies, the similar Chevy Camaro just has to have its companion, the Zeta VE-based Firebird. As expected, Firebird is rear-wheel-drive and seats 4 passengers in 2-door hardtop coupe and 2-door soft-top convertible body styles. Base Firebird has the same engine and transmission combination as the aforementioned Ventura SD, while the Sprint model-option adds RAM AIR for 270hp. Optional on Firebird and standard on Espirit is the 4.4-liter DOHC UV8 300hp V-8, while Formula adds a 6-speed OD manual or optional TAPShift to a 5300 5.3-liter OHV LS4 V-8 with 340hp. Trans Am adds GTO's 6000 6.0-liter OHV LS2 V-8 with 400hp. $21,000-33,000. Can Am, LeMans, GTO, Grand Prix, Bonneville and more coming later!
