  1. Must be why the X-Box never caught on. Oh wait... Careful, that sounds suspiciously like the overly-invincible mindset that GM had a number of years ago. Apple seems to have a good product, and definately good marketing, but in the technology world, it doesn't take too much of a nitch feature or product to take a notable chunk of market. Majority? Maybe not, but then GM is still technically the largest auto company... but compared to what it was... At any rate, there will probably be adapters for all the major media players. No need to sweat it...
  2. I'm wondering if they'll build the next Vectra/Aura in the US, but maybe import the wagon due to its natural lower volume sales? *shrug*
  3. Then why did I get a bit of a taste of Ford when I just looked at it? I can't put my finger on what made it that way, and it's nowhere near a copycat, but there's just something about it that made me think Ford... maybe even more Lincoln... Still, after I get over the initial slight taste of Ford, it's a good looking truck for the most part. I think the short bed looks a little funny, which is to be expected, I guess. The fender wells are maybe a little more pronounced than I'd have made them. Still good.
  4. this is at least the third thread on the Tesla Motors car. Don't be offended when no one else replies to it.
  5. I think I've seen one driving, and I see one parked regularly at a business near my home. That's about it, aside from the Chicago Auto Show, and once at the dealer.
  6. I want a Corsa-sized Saturn offering. I want it to be safe, though...
  7. 3 12 10 11 (though I think it should have a different name) Some nice looking cars all around!
  8. Sounds like a G5 tag line, though...
  9. saw a Caddy ad the other day... and I could've sworn it was made by the same people doing the Pontiac ads. Lots of the car slowly spinning under a spotlight in an otherwise dark room kind of thing...
  10. Looks like it will be a VERY nice looking car. Good enough to get Chevy lovers to stop being jealous of the Aura...
  11. Most factories have Visitor Centers. Find the phone number for that, call, and set it up. A factory that is getting ready for, in the middle of, or has just finished a retooling probably won't do tours for the regular public, though. Saturn used to have a way to make an appointment for a tour on their website. That's how I set one up back in '02. I don't think they have that anymore, though, but they probably still do tours.

    98

I think they were all AWD by '98. Not 100% sure on that, though.
  13. It's a great engine. Mallett is doing their stuff to Sky's as well, yes.
  14. Which V6 are you referring to? Seems like a random reference when the car of the topic has a turbo'd I4...
  15. what year did the 2nd gen start? I love the look of the 1st gen, but have heard numerous horror stories about the early ones. I might be interested in someday picking up a late 1st gen...
  16. what is "active intake"?
  17. My dad appreciated every one of the 340K+ miles he got out of his "joke" that was in his '92 Sierra.
  18. Exactly - for small cars, the best performance usually comes in 14-16 inch rims, the lighter the better.
  19. I'm in Indiana, and it's pretty darn flat, but I like it fine. Hills are interesting, but make for confusing roads. Here, everything is in a simple grid. It's awefully hard to get lost & not be able to find your way back easily. Although I've never gotten lost in hilly places, either... *shrug* I can see that it's boring, I guess I just don't care.
  20. well, if you're a DIY'er (which since it sounds like you'd rather not have the car anymore, you probably wouldn't be willing to be), you could probably buy a used tranny for a couple hundred, and since the Saturn engine & tranny are pretty small, the swap isn't too hard. Even if you have a shop do it, you're probably talking $500-1000 to have them put in a used tranny. BTW, often what happens on Saturn trannys is that the differential pin goes out & either grinds the gears up to bits, or shoots a hole through the tranny housing. This usually only happens with a fair amount of burnouts & such, though. The trannys hold up reasonably well under normal use.
  21. The Ion is not part of the "new" Saturn, so it doesn't get included. Just wait til the Astra comes around...
  22. I suggest posting your question in the technical section of www.saturnspot.com. There is a Saturn technician there who can answer your question more specifically.
  23. Sixty8, GET OVER IT. FWD has a place in the market. You like RWD, that's perfectly understandable and all, but it doesn't make anything FWD a pile. FWD has many advantages for your everyday driver. It's easier for a novice to control. It takes up less cabin space to not have to make space for a drive shaft. It weighs less. It costs less. Yes, it's less performance-oriented. Why the heck does a MINIVAN need to be performance-oriented?
  24. Actually, it's more of a minivan made not to look like a minivan.
  25. Around here, all kinds of people go to wal-mart, not just trashy ones. Traffic & parking can be a bit of a pain, though. What'll compete best with wal-mart is businesses that can do mass-customization well, and with a good image, at a competitive (though still a little higher) price. Wal-mart is the mass production version of retailing. Mass customization is the future...
