  1. It'd better be affordable, cuz to have any kind of acceptable range, it's gonna have to be light. Traditionally, light means skimping on some things that drivers often want. Optionally, it means using high-tech (a.k.a. expensive) materials. Too much of either could cause the car to be undesireable, either from an experiential or monetary standpoint. Still, I guess some props are in order for offering it. Anyone else annoyed that the article made the pointless comparison with a random mitsu concept car, with no mitsu indication that the concept has any bearing on the product in mind?

yeah - all I could think of was concave, and I knew that wasn't right. lol All I could think of was this:
  3. No offense, but what you want rarely has anything in common with what the average consumer cares about... you tend to love the more specialty vehicles that he talked about still using V8's. IMO, 8's are for trucks, truck-based SUVs, and muscle cars. Heck, a lot of the 6's are overkill for the average commuter. *edit* wow, I didn't realize how long this thread was. Seems odd, me commenting on a first page post like 15 pages later... lol

I like the pickup HHR idea, but I expect it's a uniframe vehicle, and would take a LOT of engineering to get it stiff enough if that change was made. Should be do-able though, after all, Chrysler did the convertible PT. (GM, please make a pickup version before a silly convertible version.)

Put a converse mirror below the regular, and ta-da! No more blind spot... if you know how to use mirrors. Good thing this won't generally be in the hands of the average teenager or others who haven't learned proper use of a mirror yet.
  6. Great looking vehicle, as are both siblings. I don't think this negates a need for a minivan in GM's stable - some people will want the sliding door, as PeterPuck mentioned. I do think this means that GM can/should keep the minivan count down to 1-2 models, probably one as a chevy, the other as... IDK. NOT Pontiac (except in Canada, perhaps), not Caddy, probably not GMC. I could see Saturn, maybe Buick.
  7. As I think about this... what competition will there be for this in 5 years? It'd be an awesome vehicle now, but 5 years from now... I hope the next gen rocks more than this, simply because that's what it'll take at that point.
  8. I think it looks pretty good, personally. Looks macho. Still wouldn't buy one, though...
  9. cutting edge technology... that's been around for a little while now, and they didn't even use their own components, but got them from Toyota... It looks like a pretty good package, though. around 200 hp should move along fine, and the mpgs are respectable, though not high enough to get prius-lovers to sign up. Price point is going to be critical to the car.
  10. that's kinda cool. Bet they'd charge $300+ for it, though.

looks like that's just a buldge in the hood, not a scoop, correct? I couldn't spot any openings, front or rear...
  12. I like Bob.
  13. actually, I'd try googling "monte carlo forum". There's bound to be one that includes enthusiasts for the 70s models, and they can probably tell you enough about the car to make your head explode. Heck, if there are more than a dozen for Saturns, there ought to be something for monte carlo's... lol
  14. What is meant by the "next" Corsa? There is one just coming out IIRC - do they mean that one, or the one following? Bring it!
  15. Actually, I've seen a few very positive comments about GM lately. While you're still generally correct about the media's view, it's not quite "never". BTW, enjoyed the Monty Python reference.
  16. I know the guy, and he would ditch that front plate in a heartbeat if he could. He's also done several thins since those pics, but I don't have any good shots to reference.
  17. Looks really good. Is the roof supposed to be a different color? By the condition of the car, I'd say so, but it seems odd... *shrug*
  18. you're just a bitter, bitter person, aren't you? What a suprise, there are ricers with Saturns... While I believe the point of this thread was just to have a chuckle, and not to belittle Saturns or Pontiacs as a whole, I'd like to point out that some Saturns with some work done to them look darn good, at least IMO. Not either of my Saturns, I have yet to do anything substantial to mine: same car: I've seen many more that are really well done, but didn't spot them quickly enough to bother posting them up, and I've seen all models well done, not just 2nd gen SC's as shown above (though they are quite nice).
  19. Do LED tails even cost more? I mean, development-wise, it seems like it'd be about the same, and LEDs are not expensive... I'd think the cost difference would be so minimal that they could just decide that every new model gets LEDs and be done with it...
  20. Here's an idea to stretch their image without blemishing the off-road capability: Hatchback with open wheels that is very good off-road, like a dune buggy. Don't make it look hatchback, make it look very butch. 4 passenger with the back seats folding flat for a decent cargo area. It might not be as much of a rock climber, but with the right setup, could still be awesome off-road, but also be small enough to give them another model with reasonable MPGs. Doubt it'd ever happen. *shrug* Sounds cool to me, though. *edit* Something like this, slightly wider, a few feet longer in the back (with the wheels pushed back as well - gotta keep 'em in the corners), enclosed passenger compartment (perhaps with jeep wrangler style removable doors?), lots of comfort features, and hummer-ized styling.
  21. So how does the Ion Redline look in this, since it's pretty much the same (minus about 45 lbs according to edmunds). Has it been driven to establish a lap time?
  22. Go to: http://www.saturn.com/saturn/detour/television/index.jsp Scroll down & watch "Saturn Question Mark". I think it hits the spot for what you're talking about.
  23. "more" link gave me an error.
  24. very classy, in & out.
