  1. Good. They want to rip off other peoples' designs in their own country, that's insulting. They want to export those ripoffs to other countries, that's downright infuriating.
  2. Something like that would be great, though carefully planned. There will be people that will be surprised by the number of GM products that aren't assembled in NA. A focus on how NOT american the other manufacturers are would be best, probably. Not that they should hide that some GM products are made overseas, but keep that info toned down some.
  3. I like the way it looks, but it definitely loses utility.
  4. It looks decent for being so small, but I'd take a Corsa over this any day.
  5. because it's retro. not that that's a great reason for design characteristics of functional items...
  6. The tach & speedo being where they are is more sport-oriented. If you're autocrossing your cooper, you don't give a crap about your speedo. Some of the other controls did sound annoying, though. Oh, and +1 for a real manual.
  7. Yeah, not a big surprise. The dealer I worked for also had Toyota, Jeep, Suzuki, Mitsu, Kia, Hyundai, Mercury, Lincoln, Subaru, Honda, and two or three used lots. Hard for Saturn to be as unique as it's supposed to be when the salespeople are part of a larger org culture like that. It's pretty common, though.
  8. Speed up the next gen so we can have this here, GM!
  9. would love to see that plood stripe become available painted to match the exterior paint. Would it really add much complexity to spray a few interior pieces on a little rack following each car? Would be an awesome touch - so many people LOVE the color of car they choose - it's often why they choose it. I think they'd love a reminder of that inside the car.
  10. Some designer seemingly missed the Saturn Ion jokes about "interior by fisher price, and decided to revive them with this car. Simplicity in interior design can be done well. This is only partway there, IMO.
  11. Looks decent. Not WOW, but decent.
  12. Exactly - they are surely making this thing able to run as long as there is gas in the tank and enough charge to turn the starter (which they'll surely have a reserve or small seperate battery for). Great transitional design.
  13. visit reality often?
  14. Point and laugh?
  15. Did you actually just compare an entire manufacturer with a few select models? Cuz... that's dumb. The entire "buying an import brand assembled in the US is just as good as buying an american brand car" thing is just so frustrating. When you buy that american assembled import brand car, you're employing american factory workers. When you buy an american assembled american branded car, you're paying factory workers... and engineers... and marketing staff... and support staff... and managers... and stockholders... and likely a larger percentage of parts suppliers. By this guy... ...he was missing his glasses that day, and had the sun in his eyes.
  16. Actually, I'd say it is 100% true since I said almost. I'm sure there are a few occasions with demos and overstocks where they do something extra to get 'em off the lot. Haggling certainly isn't a regular thing, I spent a little time as a Saturn salesperson, and they never indicated that they ever haggled. The price on the car is the price the customer pays.
  17. Awesome and beautiful. Unmistakably Lambo in all the best ways.
  18. fine concept, fine body shape, ugly details. Minor changes would make this car fine by me... if it's reliable and built with consistent quality (which VW is not known for)
  19. several of you keep saying the frame is cracking. It's not the frame, it's the body.
  20. Despite being a Saturn enthusiast, I agree that if one needs to go, the Saturn makes the most sense. The Buick is well differentiated, the other 3 aren't. Chevy = volume, and the GMC is the top seller of the current 3. Probably the best arguments for keeping the Saturn are that it doesn't cost that much more to have it, and some buyers would not cross-shop Chevy or other GM brands (see: why GMC makes sense despite being so similar to Chevy models).
  21. I'm so looking forward to seeing how well these E-flex products do. I wonder what advantages would come from a midsize or large car having a similar setup, but with only a buffer of batteries. Not really made for much range on electric, but just enough to allow the motor-generator to run in a peak efficiency range. The batteries only being there for peak acceleration demands, but normally the electricity produced being at or just above that which is required at the wheels in the moment. At any rate, GM is trying something very different, and it's exciting!
  22. There is almost always no haggling. The dealer may be able to make deals on dealer-install options, but that's usually it.
  23. Please tell me the 'chop is inaccurate, because it looks like they didn't do much to make it different from the Outlook/Acadia. A unique interior helps, but it's still going to be seen as blatant rebadging if the bodies are that similar.
  24. Looks good to me.
